Realizing no one cares about our league.....................I was thinking there have been some rather quick QB siutations develop this week. Which of these guys actually has a chance to get to say QB 14-18 weekly ratings by the FFL playoffs? Probably won't impact 1QB start leagues but it would matter in 2QB starts.

For the record, I like Troy Smith the best of the bunch due to the weapons he has available.

Per Singletary, Troy Smith reminded him of Favre. Or a Favre pass. Not really sure what the madman was trying to say, but he's my pick. Another low level option is Gradkowski. Kitna isn't thought too highly of and he should have a very good rest of the season.

charlie!

i've used up all my 2nd round picks to get him. have been waiting for this moment since week 1

looked good in preseason. sea giving up a lot to get him as well as handing him that shockingly large contract can only be a good sign.

For me it's Smith.

I find it a bit strange that there was so much hype over Max Hall becoming a starter and there has been pretty much silence about Troy Smith. I realise Hall had better weapons at his disposal and SF is run-heavy, but Smith at least looked competent, which is more than you can say for Hall.

I also like Gradkowski if he can get healthy.

After trading a pick (2nd? 3rd?) to get him and giving him that big contract it was a bad sign when Hasselbeck still won the starting QB job.Whitehurst was a mixed bag during the preseason too.

I thought Hass stunk and Whitehurst rocked in preseason.I felt like picking the veteran because he's a veteran was grrr.I didn't see Whitehurst play poorly and thus every SEA game or anything. When did he play poorly? My opinion assuming we're looking for a home-run.Troy's got too low of a cieling IMO. Derek will always have the possibility of having a ginormous game with his targets ala Warner.I'd choose the unknown here that did well in preseason. He's got some moxey too him and seemed to move the team up the field in command.

Several reasons for that:1. Derek Anderson had a higher likelihood of losing his job.2. Troy Smith was the 3rd string QB.3. People have a tendency to become enamored with "the unknown".

You are remembering the first preseason game where Whitehurst was 14-22, 214, 2 TD, 1INT.For games 2-4 he went:9-20, 73, 1TD, 2INT12-26, 126, 0, 011-22, 210, 1TD, 0 INTThat's a mixed bag of not much to get excited over.He might be a home run but for 1/2 a season I would lean towards T.Smith because of his experience, running ability, better weapons, and (marginally) better offensive line. San Francisco is also less likely to have to play in a downpour during any given week. But ultimately who knows? Good luck with Whitehurst, hope it works out for you.

I have Troy Smith. I would not trade him for Anderson or Whitehurst. This is in a 2qb dynasty league so qb values are very inflated.

Hasselbeck is playing pretty well actually. Unless Whitehurst can somehow get the receivers to stop dropping passes that are right on the numbers, the job is Hass' as long as he's healthy.

Or maybe Whitehurst hits the receivers somewhere other than on the numbers like Hasselbeck has been and it turns out to be just what they needed to cure the dropsies?

The quote I remember from the shark pool about late preseason action was that Whitehurst was the most INACCURATE QB that poster had ever seen? Missing people by 15 yards, etc. He's certainly not looking like a long term option when hasselbeck has his team in decent shape in the division standings. And in his 1st NFL start, the Giants are probably the LAST team he'd prefer to face?

Is this a serious post? Which wrs have been dropping all the perfect passes from Matt? The truth is the exact opposite. Mike Williams has some of the best hands in the NFL and has made Matt look a lot better than he is. Hasselbwck used to be a good qb, not anymore.

This is kind of a tricky one. I think Seattle has more invested in Whitehurst so he's more likely to start next year. Smith is more likely to give you reliable QB2 numbers this year, but next year they could have a new coach, and start everything fresh. I wouldn't be surprised to see either draft a QB early (or sign McNabb/Vick), but I think it's a more of a lock that SF does.Arizona is done with Anderson. Like Matt Moore, he's just riding out the year and starting out of necessity.

I kind of agree. Unless San Fran can somehow string together enough wins to keep Singletary in there.

I assume you are looking at Seahawks boxscores rather than watching their games so I'll fill you in. Mike Williams dropped a crucial pass (on the numbers) on the one yard line last weekend, and dropped a TD pass (on the numbers) today when the game was still up for grabs. Pete Carroll was asked in his post-game press conference if Mike Williams has a hands problem. Let's please not say it's been Mike Williams who has made Hasselbeck look good, you're embarassing yourself.

I thought Troy Smith looked good last week considering how little experience he had running what the train wreck that is the Niners' passing offense this season. But it looked as if Troy was not allowed to attempt many passes until late in the game, when the Niners were forced to pass... It may turn out that eventually the coaches will let Smith pass more often... but until it happens, I'm going to assume that Singletary has told OC Mike Johnson that he wants Troy to pass as little as possible... and the team will continue to try to grind out wins by primarily by running... which doesn't bode well for Troy's value in fantasy football...Remember that Singletary is on record as saying that he wants the Niners' formula for winning to be: "Line up and punch (the other team) in the mouth." In other words: Run... almost always up the middle and usually into the same gap... over and over... Because that's the manly way to win... Or fail to do so...

If Stafford is out for extended time, Shaun Hill would be my choice out of all. He is probably still out on the WW for many dropped him with Stafford coming back. Hill put up some QB2 points when he was in.

He has a broken arm I think.

I really like Troy Smith, He has weapons with Davis, Crabtree and Gore and he also has game. Everyone remembers him best as the Buckeyes QB that won the Heisman trophy in 2006 but really he hasnt had a decent chance in the NFL. He was slotted to be the starter for the Ravens when he got sick and lost the gig to Flacco. I think he makes the most of his second chance and really it is his first chance to prove he is a starting NFL QB. I cant wait until they really turn him loose because he could have a Vince Young type skill set when they do.
