Troy Williamson (1 Viewer)

Any Minnesota homers want to share an opinion?

Does Troy become the number one, and if so, can he put up a top-20 WR season?

Top 20 is doubtful IMHO.If I were to take a flier on a MN WR (late R10+) it would probably be Trav Taylor. He went for 50/604/4 last yr. behind KRob and "seems" to have a better rapport w/ BJ. (almost double what TWill got last yr)Assuming BJ thows 20 TDs, I can see them being spread about evenly between these 4 guys.TD wise, if it's anyone, I could also see MRob becoming the redzone vulture (if he can stay healthy).Amazing that the MN starting WRs are BOTH ranked 40+ w/ MRob waaaaay down the list.Wiggins should also fare well in 06.

My opinion (Vikes homer) is that Travis Taylor is by far the safest WR pick on the team, but Williamson has by far the most upside. Taylor has been around, we've seen what he's capable of. He's not going to surprise us with 85, 1300 and double digit TDs. Is this within Williamsons reach? I'm not going to say it is likely, but it is far more likely for Williamson than it is for Taylor. Which spot on the bench are these guys going to fill on your team? Are you in a start 2 WR league, and looking for a 4th WR, or are you on a start 3 WR looking for a 4th? These all depend. If you need a reliable guy you need to sub multiple times throughout the year, I'd go safe with Taylor. If you are taking a late round flier, go for the upside with Williamson.

All that said, I'm sure that Wiggins will lead the team in receptions, and MRob will steal plenty of touchdowns.

I see Wiggins as #1

Williamson/T2 as 2 and 2a

Chester as 3

Robinson/McMullen/Jason Carter/Chris Jones as 4th

As far as TD's (going with your 20 number) if I had to split em out I would go with

Wiggins - 5

Chester - 4

Williamson - 3

T2 - 3

rest tossed around

Just one fans opinion

Hey Vike homers. That back up quaterback is looking pretty good. I've been able to watch him play twice and I must say I think he'll be the steal of this years nfl draft. I think he could push for the starting job next year. I'm going to draft him and Williamson in my dynasty league and prepare for the future. He will hang around my roster a couple of years but I know this kid is going to be a stud someday.

I view Williamson as more of a low yardage, high catch per average guy w/ a pretty good amount of TD's, say about 7-8. I think Wiggins, Richardson, and the (2) Taylor's get the bulk of the catches, but Williamson will make the big plays.

I like him in a TD heavy league as a decent #3/#4 WR and in a yardage league he's a #4/#5 WR. I don't see the ton of upside that others may see, except potentially in the TD area. I think there are too many targets on the Vikings now for him to be a 1000+ yard reciever

Great feedback, thanks! What do you see for them this year?

If your defense plays well you'll win your division. I really like your new coach. He has direction and knows what type of gameplan he wants to establish. He makes a statement by going out and getting the best guard in football. He also goes and snags a decent RB in Chester Taylor. The team ended on an excellent note last year and I really think that will carry over. You guys will play a run heavy low risk steady offense. If your defense comes to play you'll win your division. Chicago's QB situation will catch up with them this year, Brett Farve will throw the Pakers out of the race. The only thing that scares me is Martz on turf in ford field.

Pretty much agree with reg on this one.

The only way any one is worth much is if Williamson does a great Torry Holt/Steve Smith impersonation. Until I see him show me he can make a catch and just cut it loose, I won't be holding my breath.

I think Troy Williamson is going to be a break out Wr in 2006 as the #1 target for the Vikings. Childress will use motion and bunch packages to help him get off the line. You wont see this much in preseason.

I think Williamson is a dangerous YAC Wr because of his speed. Brad Johnson has very good accuracy and should put him in position to make some big plays off of slants and hook patterns. I think he will average 4 catches/game and should finish in the top 30 Wrs with the potential to break into the top 20.

I am not as worried about a injury to Brad Johnson as I was before seeing how well Jackson has developed.

I don't expect Brad Johnson to last the season, and rookie QBs struggle, so I'm not happy with any of the Viking WRs for redraft.

Whew! I started reading this and thought you meant Mike McMahon looked good, in which case I would have to make a mental note of your name and disregard your opinion forever. But yeah, I agree. Tarvaris Jackson looks very promising.

I'd be surprised. Taylor would challenge top-5 with those stats. Most people never saw Troy play @ SC. If you saw any of his highlights, they had nothing with him going deep. This kid was born for the West Coast Offense. Tice had no idea how to run an offense and niether did their OC. If you want to take late round flier, he may be it. I like him as soon as Tarvaris takes over next season. Plus, you won't see him trying to outrun police in rural MN.

took him in the 11th round of a keeper league, hoping he pans out to be at least a servicable #2 or bye week filler this year and maybe a solid #2 next year.

Unfortunately I have him and BMW to duke it out in a dynasty league as my WR3, now that Jimmy Smith retired. I hope one emerges, and I doubt it's BMW.

Just wanted to bump this, and give a nod to all those that thought Williamson would do well. He looks solid after two games. He just needs to get the TDs in there.
