True or False: "Patience" has held up as the best Guns N' Roses song (1 Viewer)

Huge fan of PJ.

I don't think any album, as a whole, runs with Ten for obvious reasons. However Vs, Vitalogy, No Code and to a slightly lesser extent, Yield,  at a minimum are damn good albums.

VS: Go, Animal, Daughter, Dissident, WMA, Rearview Mirror, Elderly Woman, Leash, Indifference
Vitalogy: Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Not For You, Nothingman, Whipping, Corduroy, Better Man, Immortality
No Code: Hail Hail, In My Tree, Smile, Off He Goes, Habit, Red Mosquito, Lukin, Present Tense, Around the bend
Yield: Brain of J, Given to Fly, Wishlist, Do The Evolution, MFC, Low Light, In Hiding...

Then their albums IMO have increasing numbers of duds/filler but still feature some true gems:

Binaural (Breakerfall, Light Years, Nothing as it Seems, Insignificance, Of the Girl)
Riot Act: Save You, I am Mine, Thumbing my Way, You Are, 1/2 Full, Arc (Incredible Live)
Avocado: Life Wasted, World Wide Suicide, Severed Hand, Come Back...

The last 3 albums have had pretty limited goodness, I agree (Just Breathe, Unthought Known, The End, Sirens, Lightning Bolt, Pendulum, Sleepin by Myself...)

I really like Vs, Yield and No Code. I only like Vitalogy stuff live. I thought it did not translate to the studio well at all.

But Ten is simply......incredible and the energy and vibe (and song writing) of that album was never matched again. It also had lusher production which I know the band did not like and even had Brendon O’Brian re-mix it.....I prefer that bigger production on that album. It sounds fantastic.

Binaural is where they lost me for good. And that tour was wretched. And I love them live. I have seen then several times. In fact every tour up to the Binaural tour.

But that tour.......I walked out on the show....it was crazy how bad they were that night. Just standing around.....2 minutes between songs figuring out what to play next.....awful. And touring a crappy ### album did not help. The Binaural material was just painful live....because I despised that record.

I'm partial to Don't Cry (both versions), You Could Be Mine, and Civil War as far as post-Appetite GNR goes.

Patience is a good song, just don't like it as much or think it has held up more than the others.

GNR has a huge catalog of hits.

I think Paradise City will hold up the best.

Sweet Child of Mine, Don' Cry, November Rain, and You Could Be Mine will hold as well.  The guitar solo on Nighttrain is particularly awesome too.  Patience is a good song, but those other are better long term IMO.

Appetite is still an incredible album.  Most of the songs I can't believe my mother let me listen to at age 13.  But Rocket Queen, My Michelle, It's so Easy, Mr Brownstone, Think About You ... for a late 80s kid they were so hardcore.  Still one of the best 10 albums ever.  Some questionable lyrics I used to sing as loud as I could...

"Ya get nothin' for nothin'
If that's what ya do
Turn around ##### I got a use for you…"

"Panties round your knees
With your ### in debris
Doing that grind with a push and a squeeze
Tied up, tied down, up against the wall
Be my rubber made, baby, and we can do it all"

"Your daddy works in porno
Now that mommy's not around
She used to love her heroin
But now she's underground
So you stay out late at night
And you do your dope for free"
