KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP)—Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Trufant and the Seahawks have agreed to a $50.2 million, six-year contract that runs through 2013.

Agent Doug Hendrickson said the deal for 11th overall draft choice out of Washington State in 2003 includes $20 million in guarantees. A $3 million roster bonus due in 2010 effectively means Trufant is due $28 million over the first three years of the contract, making him one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the league.
Fantastic news, doubly so for coming on the heels of Tatupu signing. Couldn't be happier with the offseason.

Tru dat.

Trufant >>>> DeAngelo Hall

So, I guess the Hawks got a good deal.
Interesting take on the comparasin in $$ between Hall, Clements and Tru (from Seahawks Insider
Marcus Trufant's deal is actually $50.2 over six seasons.

He has a $10 million signing bonus for this year, a $7 million roster bonus in March of 2009, and a $3 million roster bonus for March of 2010.

His salary for this year and next year will be $1 million, and his salary for the third year of the deal is $5.7 million. He also has $100,000 workout bonuses. Effectively, he has $28 million in guaranteed money, assuming he plays for the Seahawks for the next three years.

When you take into account that Washington state does not have a state income tax, Trufant's deal is actually pretty close to the deals given to Nate Clements and now DeAngelo Hall because California's state income tax is 9.8 percent.

Additionally, Trufant will be living in Washington State and not California. ;)

I think it's a statement about Washington being a nicer place to live than California. Which at first I was going to dispute since I live in L.A., but then immediately remembered that L.A. sucks and I wish I never moved out of WA.

I took the post to mean that it's better to live in cali than wash. st...better weather and more babes

This is good considering Trufant is a better CB than Hall and Seattle paid less for the superior player.

Good offseason for Seattle I must say.

The only thing that would have made me happier is if we landed Alge Crumpler, but I'm not complaining.

Very good signing for Sea. Trufant is a top 5 CB IMO. They got him a a "discounted" price by the looks of it.
