I didn't see yesterday's game, but he was on the field for 80% of the Titans' defensive snaps Week 6.I thought he wasHe nearly had at least 2 sacks. I'm also attributing the lack of tackles to 1) He's not a 3-down LBer; and 2) The Jags offense sucked yesterday, aside from 2 great runs by MJD.
umm, wasn't that the game Brady threw 6TD's barely playing into the 3rd QT?Of course when you get beat 59-0, you don't face many passing downs! It was also my understanding from earlier posts that he was only playing as much pass d as he was because of their decimated secondary.
understood, that first line of yours is a bit confusing tho u must admitFisher/Cecil aren't idiots however and they know the Patriots are near the league lead in pass ratio. at the time Brady lead the league in pass attempts, he's 2nd in attempter per game behind Warner now. the patriots also probably lead the league in shotgun snaps. sure they run the draw out of time to time but more often then not when Brady lines up in shotgun he's chucking it. i'd say atleast 80% of the time they're in shotgun it constitutes a down they are likely to pass. its not like the Pats trot out someone to run the wildcat out of shotgunA passing down doesn't mean a down where the offense throws a pass, it's one where they are likely to throw one. That is more likely when the offense is facing third down, long yardage , and they are getting beat. New England only faced third down 11 times over 77 offensive plays (WOW!) and they were never behind. I don't know their average yards-to-go, but I strongly suspect based on the above factors that it was rarely long, so as a consequence the Titans rarely faced "passing downs" (despite what Brady did).EDIT: Left off the "77," which was kind of important!
No, they aren’t stupid (despite what fans may be saying after the Manning-jersey incident!), but when you are trailing by 45-0 at the half you probably don’t put your nickle defense in! And, while it is true that Tulloch was in for 66 of NE’s 77 offensive plays (86%), he was there for all 30 of the rushes (100%) but only 35 of the 47 plays when NE passed (74%). Such a breakdown strongly suggests that he was only pulled when they had a feeling that NE would pass which, in such an incredibly lopsided game, wasn’t all that often. Hence my suspicion that he got to play much more often in this game than in the Jags game.Hopefully, ProFootballFocus will do those stats and we can know for sure (particularly since I own Tulloch)!understood, that first line of yours is a bit confusing tho u must admitFisher/Cecil aren't idiots however and they know the Patriots are near the league lead in pass ratio. at the time Brady lead the league in pass attempts, he's 2nd in attempter per game behind Warner now. the patriots also probably lead the league in shotgun snaps. sure they run the draw out of time to time but more often then not when Brady lines up in shotgun he's chucking it. i'd say atleast 80% of the time they're in shotgun it constitutes a down they are likely to pass. its not like the Pats trot out someone to run the wildcat out of shotgunA passing down doesn't mean a down where the offense throws a pass, it's one where they are likely to throw one. Tulloch doesn't play in the nickel. The Colts use spread sets more than just about any team in the league. The Titans used three backers against the Colts earlier in the year, but that was when Finnegan and Fuller were both injured. Tulloch generally plays only 40-50% of the snaps against these offenses and it may well have been less despite 25 RB carries to Manning's 37 pass attempts.Should see more snaps against the Rams and Dolphins in coming weeks, but, like any non-nickel backer, he's still at high risk of playing just 40-60% of the snaps (or less) in any given week.Goose Egg'd against the Colts.... what happenedThink he'll bounce back next week

Looks like, with all three corners healthy in this matchup, the Titans gameplanned to have Vincent Fuller on the slot WR or Clark when Clark was the slot TE/3rd WR. Tulloch leaves the field in the nickel package when Thornton is healthy, so he was odd man out.:sonova:What was the reason?Tulloch played six snaps last week.Tulloch doesn't play in the nickel.
