Uber question (1 Viewer)

Wife down loaded the app, says it seems easy. Put in the address and time and they show up.

Going to a concert tomorrow in another city , planning to uber from hotel to concert and back. My question is how are they going to find us after the show if there’s thousands of people there trying to leave?

As @Galileo said above many (most large venues) have a designated area. Also within the app you have the ability to communicate with your driver (both text and call). I was at an airport a few weeks ago and it was crazy busy so I was not standing directly in the pick up area. I called the drive (via the number provided in the app) and told him where I was. Super easy.

I tend to follow Galileo’s advice and find a spot that is a little ways away from the main crowd. Also verify that the Uber car is the correct one by checking the license plate AND the name of the driver (they will usually verify your name as well).

Thanks guys

Heading to Hershey Pa so I’m THINKING it’s not ghetto ish outside the stadium but I really don’t know

From the looks of the forecast we may be sporting ponchos ☹️

Lol. I'll be at Hershey this weekend. It's literally in the parking of the amusement park. I'm not sure what the policy is for Uber during concerts because to get to that point of the stadium you will have to get by a parking booth. I'm guessing they will take the chocolate world fork and drop you around there somewhere.

When you book an Uber, there's a real time map, showing the car's location, and the make model and license plate are displayed, so you can easily find the car. You'll maybe have to wave them down if there's a crowd. You open the door, and state your name so the driver knows you aren't a carjacker, and that he has the right fare. I got in the wrong car once in London, that was fun.

Also, you can often book in advance, which you might want to look into.

This may be outdated, just ask staff when you get there. They have a system, and everyone knows it, whatever it is.

Chocolate World ftw - that about a 3 minute walk to the stadium maybe 5
Is it safe to assume this is a nice area to be walking around in the dark? :oldunsure:
Do I have this right? You are attending The Chicks/Ben Harper concert tonight, in Hershey, PA. (Not the Guns N Roses show tomorrow)

I would steer clear of open spaces, someone might spring a craft fair or a farmer's market on you.

I wouldn't do this on Uber. Lyft, yes. Uber, no. Uber sucks with the advance bookings. If the driver cancels, it's on YOU to rebook so you're stuck scrambling for a new driver. Lyft will automatically rebook you if the original driver cancels.

If you find yourself standing on a crowded curb waiting for your Uber, it'll be easier for you to spot the car than it will be for the driver to spot you. As everyone else said, you can see and verify the make and model and license plate of the car. But to help the driver spot you in a crowd: next to the driver's info of your reserved ride there's a button you can press in the Uber app that will bring up a particular color and make it full screen on your phone. You're supposed to hold that screen up in the air so the driver can spot you. The color is unique to the area and to the driver, so you're holding up a purple phone screen and the driver is looking for purple, and nobody else will be using purple at that time. So the driver approaches the designated pickup spot and can spot you faster by your color. Then still confirm the driver's name and your name once you get the door open.

The concert ended last night and we were part of the sea of humans trying to get out of the stadium. We eventually got out the closest gate to the stage while Susie waits til the last minute for everything is trying to get us an Uber back to hotel

I had asked a security guy earlier where he thought we should try to get picked up and he said “chocolate world, it’s right over there”. Which is cool but we couldn’t see over there because we were in the stadium. My wife says “the Uber is behind a green trolley”. Of course there’s a million cars going in every direction and I have no idea where the green trolley is.

I took her phone and clicked “be right there” so he doesn’t leave and look over to my right about 100 yds and there’s a green trolley just sitting in the open with a silver Hyundai behind it. The driver told us he goes there all the time and has never been waved into that area before lol. We made a dash for it, confirmed the license plate and it’s our guy.
I still have no idea how it worked out like it did, we should’ve bought a lottery ticket after. Total **** luck that we found him, especially that fast. He zoomed outa there like a pro and dropped us at our hotel in 5 minutes. I don’t think it was 15 total minutes from the last note played on stage until we were at our room lol.

Oh, and the ride was like $7. I tipped him
$5. Obviously checkin girl saw us coming 😂

I love it when a plan comes together.

Glad you dodged the mean streets of "the sweetest place on earth"..

It's a zoo here today. We usually go last week of August when no one is here. Stupid college

Glad it worked out
