Ugh...who to keep? or...trade? (1 Viewer)

So, which one should I keep?

Uggla (yes, K's count against), Abreu (getting old, but more PT in decent lineup), Cliff Lee (fluke?), Ervin (consistency)

Not that it really matters, but my other keepers are Sizemore, Morneau, and Halladay

I'd really hate to give up Sizemore, but I may be able to work a deal for any combination of 2 of the following:

Pedroia, Prince, Kemp, Ichiro

Right now I think I'm going to trade away Sizemore for Pedroia, Prince, and either Ichiro or Kemp. I'm thinking Kemp because he's young and has Sizemore-like skills. The dude I'd be trading with already has Reyes, Cabrera, Webb, Bay, and the guys I mentioned before.

If I did this trade my keepers would be Pedroia, Fielder, Kemp/Ichiro, and Halladay. I think that's probably better than Sizemore, Morneau, Halladay, and....Uggla/Abreu/E Santana/Cliff Lee

How many total guys do you keep? I'm confused here. If someone is offering Pedroia, Prince and Kemp for Sizemore you take that deal unless you only have 4 keepers and the trade doesn't make you the number one team in the league THIS year. You need to be more clear about what your situation is.

Yes, we only keep 4 players and all other players are thrown into the draft pool. there is a possibility nobody trades with this guy and a few of them go into the pool, but i think he'll get a deal done before that if i don't do something. i'm leaning towards doing the trade. the guy i'm trading with is going to have one of, if not the top team based on keepers no matter if he does the trade or not.

Post your team. In a league where only 4 players are kept the only pitchers I would even consider are Seabiscuit and Johan. I'm in a keeper league where we keep 8 this year and I am probably dumping Hamels and Webb. Pitching is deep and gems can be found in the later rounds if you know what you're looking for. If you were to make the trade I would go Kemp and Pedroia. I like Kemp long term more than Prince. Manny is also singed so Kemp will benefit there for the next couple years. More confusion where you said "Prince, Pedroia and either Kemp or Ichiro". This sounds like 3 guys and if that is the case you take Kemp, Pedroia and Prince and don't look back. Uggla, Santana, Abreu and Lee are not keepers in this type of league unless it's a 15+ team league.

Yeah, I'm most likely going to get 3 guys for Sizemore. Pedroia, Kemp, and Fielder. I'm not feeling Ichiro. That would mean I'd keep either Halladay or Morneau as my 4th keeper. Remember, one of our league's pitching stats is CGs. Halladay is the man as far as that goes. Then again, having Morneau and Fielder both on my team for 1B/Util. would be sweet. So I guess the question now would be:

Morneau or Halladay?

It wouldn't be worth it to post my entire team. These are the only guys worth mentioning. Like you said, the other players on my team are terrible keepers.

Dustin, Kemp and Fielder >>>>>> Halladay, Sizemore, and Uggla/Lee. Morneau is a wash. Seems pretty simple to me. Love Grady, but your other keepers aren't very good.

your scoring is pretty ####ed up.

Considering CG is a category in your 5x5 league that would make Halladay a top 5 pitcher probably, as good as morneau is i would keep Halladay.

Good point. There is no RBI category either. Do the trade and keep Halladay.

Sorry guys, my mistake. Our league is actually 7x7. The league site just got posted and I completely forgot we had that many stat categories. I can't believe out of everything I could've forgot - RBIs and Saves were among them...

Anyway, here's the scoring.

R, HR, RBI, AVG, SB, K, E x W, L, CG, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

Like you said, it'd be a lot easier to pick Morneau if CGs weren't counted. Halladay already is a top-5 pitcher. The question is whether he's worth keeping over a solid 1B. Both positions are relatively deep. I'm torn on which guy would help me out more. There is a possibility I could get the guy I don't keep in the 5th rd., but there's obviously no guarantee.

The only kept pitchers I can think of right now are Johan, Lincecum, Webb, Sabathia, Haren, Hamels....oh, and Felix.

That's really all there is to it. In your scoring system, i would probably rank Halladay as the 4th best SP behind Johan, Lincecum, and Sabathia. There's no way i would drop him in favour of a guy who you plan to start at the utility spot.
