Ultimate IDP Survivor Final Leg (1 Viewer)

Jene Bramel

Footballguy
I'll get back to this thread and update the first two posts with a refresher on the rules and prizes by midweek.

I wanted to get the following out there early this week, however.

Anyone with a chance to finish in the top three in your Leg 1 league, please be aware that the Final Leg draft will start at 7am ET Tuesday, November 3rd (next week). There will be a six hour timer to start. If the draft does not finish by noon on Saturday, November 27th, the timer will be dropped to two minutes per pick to ensure the draft finishes by Sunday AM.

Please make arrangements to keep the draft moving now and let me know if you won't be able to fill your potential slot ASAP so alternates can be determined.

This draft went extremely smoothly last season, with minimal interruption and ridiculously strong competition. I'd very much like to see the same in 2009.

Ultimate IDP Survivor Finals (MFL LINK TBD)

**A single 12 team league drafting individual defensive players only consisting of the three surviving teams from each of the four original Leg 1 leagues. Draft slots will be awarded according to performance in the three Leg 1 leagues. The top three all play records from each Leg 1 league (total points tiebreaker) will draft in slots 1-4, with the exact order to be determined randomly. Random draws will take place for each "bucket" of the next highest scoring team from each league.

**Defensive scoring will be balanced IDP scoring. Scoring system will be sent to all potential league participants well in advance (see below). All defensive lineups will be 2DE/1DT/3LB/2CB/2S with a single flex (any position) to total 11 defensive starters. All owners will draft 24 players (no positional restrictions) by slow MFL draft to begin on Tuesday morning following Week 8 of the NFL season. Expect a 6 hour clock with some downtime overnight. Should the draft not be reasonably close to completion by Saturday noon ET, the time alloted for each pick will drop to two minutes. Should that occur and teams miss picks, open roster slots may be filled first come, first served. Please consider making alternate arrangements if you won't be able to draft reasonably quickly during weekdays. Respect the competition and your leaguemates on this.

**Owners will not submit lineups. The best available lineup will be scored from your entire roster of players.

**This will be a cumulative all-play competition this year rather than last season's survivor competition. The best record from W9 through W16 wins the title, with runner-up prizes to be noted below.

In addition to the bragging rights of making it to the final league, David Dodds has graciously offered the following prizes:

1st prize: Lifetime subscription, $300 cash

2nd prize: 3 year subscription, $150 cash

3rd prize: 3 year subscription, $100 cash

4th prize: 3 year subscription, $75 cash

5th - 8th prizes: 1 year subscription

Scoring:

Solo tackle – 1.5

Assisted tackle – 0.75

Sack – 5

Pass Defensed – 1.5

INT – 5

FF – 4

FR – 4

All TDs – 6

Safety – 2

If anyone wants to post those still in the hunt for final leg slots in their leagues, please feel free to do so. Otherwise, I'll use this post to update the races midweek when time allows.

top 2 teams look relatively safe but there's a handful of teams likely to be fighting over the 3rd spot. My team started out 4-18 in the first two weeks, but has gone 47-8 in the 5 weeks since. JAM and Polyethylene Bag both started out 19-3 and have been at or near the top ever since. Cobalt Cruisin was in 10th place at 16-28 after week 4 but he's gone 28-5 over the past 3 weeks to climb all the way to a tie for 3rd.

I'm surprised I've lasted this far with this receiving corps. I had 3 freakin doughnuts in my lineup last week. Prob will get 4 this week with Tom Brady and Santonio Holmes on bye in w8. I really fuggled my WRs up this year. Just look at this mess :bag:

Is there an automated email reminding us of this draft? I know I missed it last year and, well, nuff said.
I sent out emails (and PMs) with league passwords last season and will be doing so again as soon as the league is set. I'll update this thread when that's done this year.

Cool thanks. I was on a remote location last year if memory serves me correctly and had no internet access. I coulda been a contenda!!

Though it was a particularly brutal three point last week elimination, you didn't get a notification because you didn't qualify for the final league last year.

The rules and prizes for the final league have been added to the second post. PLEASE READ THE RULES.

I'll bump this post frequently before Tuesday AM with scoring and advancement updates. If you expect to advance, be sure your email address is updated on the Leg 1 websites. If you expect to advance but could have difficulty meeting the draft timer requirements, look to find alternate help now please.

No better illustration of the depth of competition in this competition than this:

Last season's top 12 finishers:

1/ Bramel -- Eliminated

2/ Bloom -- Eliminated

3/ Thomas -- Eliminated

4/ Crippler -- Eliminated

5/ Chainz -- Not entered

6/ Chaos Commish -- Not entered

7/ Borbely -- Eliminated

8/ FullbackFro -- Eliminated

9/ tec79 -- Eliminated

10/ SkyRattlers -- Eliminated

11/ BennyBeaver -- Eliminated

12/ buck56 -- Needs help in Balanced 1

Four staffers are still alive for now, but it'll take some luck for four to move on to the final leg again this year.

------------------------

Still in contention

Balanced 1

obxlegends 55-22

tazinib1 53-24

Waldman 52-25

tjford 51-26

buck56 50-27

There will be a new champion this season, as I've been knocked out in the opening leg. Two staffers will fail to advance from this group, with Waldman the only potential staff advancer. Last year's 8th place finisher (Fro) and 10th place finisher (SkyRattlers) also failed to advance to the final leg this year. The three spots are too close to call here, as there have been enough big weeks from the seven also-rans in this group that anything can happen.

Balanced 2

Rudnicki 51-26

JAM 50-27

Polyethylene Bag 44-33

Cobalt Crusin' 44-33

bmj87 40-37

sgtrobo 40-37

Patsfan39 38-39

Bob Magaw 38-39

Rudnicki and JAM would appear safe here, barring a major collapse. It's a six way scrum for the final slot, then, though everything will have to go right for those toward the bottom of the not yet mathematically eliminated crowd, including the second staffer in the league (Magaw). Last season's 4th and 9th place finishers, Crippler and tec79, won't be advancing this year.

The top three are almost certainly in this week, though none have mathematically clinched. All three staffers will not advance from this group, including last season's 3rd place finisher (Thomas).

Big play

Duckboy 50-27

Penguin 50-27

Wolverine 49-28

tex 48-29

Pasquino 46-31

pinda 45-32

Fighting Wombat 45-32

Another scrum for three spots here, where no one is safe. Last year's second place finisher (Bloom) is done, as is the 2008 11th place finisher (PewterFan).

Best of luck to everyone still in contention this week. Total points will be the tiebreaker here, and every point will matter.

I was killed on D and that is despite being the #1 team at S by quite a bit. My DE and LB core has been brutal though and have had only 1 healthy CB. But 170 pts at LB is sick. That is 130 behind average

Oh well. Happy with my strategy in the end but not the players I ended up taking. Merriman is a shell of his former self and Rivers has basically sucked

I think these are the updated standings for Balanced League 2 going into Monday night:

Team W L

Rudnicki 62 - 26 (11-0)

JAM 57 - 31 (7-4)

sgtrobo 49 - 39 (9-2)

Bob Magaw 48 - 40 (10-1)

Cobalt Crusin' 47 - 41 (3-8)

Polyethylene Bag 46 - 42 (2-9)

massraider 37 - 51 (4-7)

pretender 33 - 55 (5-6)

tec79 25 - 63 (0-11)

1st two spots are safe.

for the 3rd spot,

sgtrobo has a 1 game lead and 219.75 points plus Michael Turner, Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem, and Elam.

Magaw is trailing by 1 game and has 227.45 points. He has Michael Jenkins and Mike Peterson playing tonight.

Cobalt is trailing by 2 games and has 198.90 points. He has Shockey, Colston, and Curtis Lofton playing tonight.

Polyethylene Bag trails by 3 games and has 191.60 points. He has Brees and Darren Sharper playing tonight.

If my big lead this week holds up, I'll have gone 58-8 (88%) over the past 6 weeks.

221 this week with all my QBs on bye, but I still have Vilma and Roman Harper left with reasonable opportunity for them to well-exceed Curry and Wilson for points. Plus I do have Reggie Bush - I can hope for an incredible game. However, my grip on the final spot isn't that firm. Good luck to eveyrone, should be an exciting final to leg one.

Yep. You're our only hope, Obi-Wan.Barring Bramel math shenanigans, Pasquino and Waldman were both eliminated by a single win tonight. Sucks to fail to get to the final leg and defend, but there aren't any weak sisters in this group.

MFL updated numbers since I ran this (still unofficial) and buck56 lost a few points. He's now tied with Waldman with 58 wins. My math has him ahead in total points, however, so he'll hold the 3 seed over Waldman, with tjford moving up to the 2 seed from BAL 1.

Jene, will you be posting a link to the league soon, draft is scheduled to begin in less than 6 hours?

Looks like I limped in, I've known all along week 8 was going to be a light week for my team with 7 byes, but I figured I'd have a big enough lead to take it home... hadn't counted on being without 8 additional players due to injury.

Congradulations Aaron, it would have been much closer without so many injuries, but I'll do a better job in that department next year. Seriously, all excuses and crying aside you made quite an impressive comeback and you deserve the win.

Bah.

Mulitple numbers are changing on MFL and I can't determine which players are having stats changed. Hopefully, MFL posts weekly updates soon and I'll send out invites and open the draft as soon as I can generate dice rolls thereafter...

Last year, I get eliminated the 1st week. This year, I advance to the final leg. Feels pretty good!

Thank you Albert Haynesworth! ;-)

Nice job guys,on making it to the finals. Thought I was done for when Lofton went down right before the half, was happy to see him back in to start the third. Thanks again for putting this together Jene, hope i have a little better luck in the first week of the finals this year.

Timer is on.

Currently set at 7 hours to give awesomeness the full 6 hour grace period. I'll adjust after his pick. Currently set to suspend timer between 12am and 6am ET, but we'll re-evaluate the timer as the draft progresses.

Please keep this draft moving to the best of your ability for everyone involved. Feel free to send me picks if you get in a bind, but there will be times this week (this afternoon, for example) where I'll be out of touch for a few hours. Plan ahead and pre-draft when you're comfortable.

Congrats to the final 12. You all deserve it as it was some very stiff competition all the way around. I had a slim chance in Big Play league but too many week 8 byes combined with poor performances from my active players spelled doom for me. It was a great feeling to just be in the mix to the end. Can't wait for next year and good luck to you all. :bye:

tough call at the #2 spot but decided Jared Allen was too good to pass up even with the week 9 bye. wish he had more games against the Packers on the schedule.

No kidding. Try the #5 spot with Willis, Allen & Lofton off the board already. No obvious pick at my spot.
