A few of those within 10 wins of the third and final spot to advance from each opening leg are probably already eliminated, but I’m not doing the calculus to confirm it. :lmao: If you’re on this list, get ready to draft early Tuesday morning. The final leg will again be an IDP only draft with balanced scoring. We’ll be drafting 26 24 players and need to get finished by Saturday, so a liberal use of predrafts and close attention to the draft will be essential. I’m going to start the timer Tuesday AM at six hours (off b/t 2am and 8am ET, 11pm and 5am PT) and I’ll be shortening it significantly if we’re not humming along by Thursday.

If you have a chance to advance and that time frame does not work, get a proxy to help you draft or let me know ASAP so I can have alternates in place.

The full rule set for the final leg will be in the next post. If you advance, make sure you read it before you draft.

A few of those within 10 wins of the third and final spot to advance from each opening leg are probably already eliminated, but I’m not doing the calculus to confirm it. :) All ties for final seeding and placement will be broken by total points. Should an owner who advances be unable to draft, the first alternate(s) will be determined by dice roll from the highest non-advancing teams from each opening leg league.

tex

Thomas and Gnik ride dominant performances into the final leg. tex has also already clinched with a strong run through the first leg. They are the only three who have officially clinched berths in the finals among the four Opening Leg leagues.

Bramel and buck are sitting reasonably comfortable right now, as it will take a total breakdown and two solid weeks from PBag and Scores to keep either from advancing. Realistically, it’ll take a miracle for one of the bottom three to grab the 3 seed from this group. pinda, with a strong total points effort has the best chance to pull into a tie and take the tiebreaker, but The Man has the horses to put up a second consecutive 11-0 week. ggiants has dropped hard after injuries and a huge number of W7 and W8 byes take their toll on the former leader of the pack.

41-36-0 .532 13.0 1822.20 260.3 19599.50 254.5

This group is wide open, with the top four likely to shuffle a bit in W8. Acer has a five win advantage over Crippler right now, but goes into W8 with at least 14 players injured or on bye. Crippler has a slight total points advantage, but his relatively healthy team might also struggle with a couple of key bye week issues. Fortunately for the leaders with roster issues, pretender’s roster is beaten up in key places and it’ll take some huge weeks to overcome the five win deficit and leapfrog two other owners.

Waldman is almost certainly through to the final leg. GE and PewterFan are going to have a hard time overcoming the 7+ win deficit, total points deficit and jump four owners to grab the 3 seed. But there are still five owners in play for the final two seeds. All five have deficiencies this week, so give Bloom and Duck a slight edge on Fro for the final two seeds.

Leg 2

**A single 12 team league drafting individual defensive players only consisting of the top three scoring teams from each of the four original Leg 1 leagues. Draft slots will be awarded according to performance in the Leg 1 leagues. The top scoring team in each Leg 1 league will draft in the top draft slots, with the exact order to be determined randomly. Random draws will take place for each "bucket" of the next highest scoring team from each league.

**Defensive scoring will be balanced IDP scoring. Scoring system will be sent to all potential league participants well in advance. All defensive lineups will be 2DE/DT/3LB/2CB/2S with a single DE/LB/DB flex to total 11 defensive starters. All owners will draft 26 24 players (no positional restrictions) by slow MFL draft to begin on Tuesday morning following Week 8 of the NFL season. A six hour timer, turned off overnight, will be in place. Should the draft not be complete by Saturday noon ET of that week, the timer will be shortened to five minutes to complete the draft in time.

**Should a Leg 2 owner be unable to draft and need to be replaced, a random dice roll among the highest remaining scorer in each of the three Leg 1 leagues will determine the first replacement owner. Potential replacement owners will be notified in advance.

**Owners will not submit lineups. The best available lineup will be scored from your entire roster of players.

**This season's contest will be an all-play contest. Each team will play every other team each week. Total wins and losses will be added up over the eight week "season". The team with the best all-play record (total points tiebreaker) between Weeks 9 and 16 of the NFL regular season will be declared the champion.

Thanks a lot for putting this on and while my team was an embarrassment this year, I would love do have the chance to do it again next year. Injuries and poor choice making on fliers killed me this year.

Jene.. You couldn't be more right..

I thought I had a playoff spot locked up two weeks ago.. And then everything fell apart.

My overperforming wr's decided to go back to their actual level of talent, and the others decided to get injured when I needed them the most.

But hey.. I still have a shot.. I hope everyone on the ggiants roster realises that this is the week !!! .

If I make it through, I'll need more output from receivers than the last few weeks. Two weeks ago, I was 2nd in scoring with only Calvin Johnson's points and a meager 2 pts from Cribbs before his bell was rung.

Gotta hope someone steps up to the level Ray Lewis was at last week if I'm going to advance. He is the biggest bye week casualty that I have this week.

Dr. Jene-thanks so much for the opportunity to participate. This has been, by far, my best showing in the 3 years that I've participated.

Best of luck to all, except the ones that I'm chasing for a playoff spot.

:ptts:I was alone in 3rd (2nd among non staff) and had just come up 13 points from being 1st among non-staff.Then two weeks later I was decimated. Could barely field the requisite players and coupled with byess... OVAH!.

3 tex 57 wins

**Bloom takes tiebreaker from coreyrajahs on strength of a narrow 2258.15 over 2246.75 total points margin. The 11.4 point difference is less than one solo tackle per week. Brutal way to end a brilliant 11 win W8 come-from-behind effort.

I'll wait to confirm the numbers to send out the official invites. If they hold, the draft order (top finisher in each leg get top four draft slots decided by random dice roll, etc) will be:

1 Bramel

2 JAM

3 Ysantaf_Gnik

4 Duckboy

5 Polyethylene Bag

6 Thomas

7 Waldman

8 JGilesBand

9 tex

10 AcerFC

11 buck56

12 Bloom

I'll open the draft ASAP, with the six hour timer (off between 2am and 8am ET) to be turned on sometime b/t 7am and 9am Tuesday morning. Invites will be going to the email address you've listed on your opening leg page and I'll PM everyone when the invites will have gone out in the hopes of avoiding an issue like we had with the yahoo addresses this summer.

Please note: I've corrected a typo in the original rule set. We will be drafting 24 players, not 26. Please read the rule set carefully for details on the lineup and scoring system.

Good luck everyone.

Hmmm, convenient that someone got that 1st pick there :goodposting:Honored to make it again. Hoping to better last year's 4th place finish. Good luck all.

Should my math hold, this will be a brutal group.

***buck56 is making his third consecutive appearance in the final leg. Had the contest been an all-play league in 2008, he would have won. He finished 5th last season.

***JAM, Ysantaf_Gnik, Duckboy and JGilesBand join buck56 as back-to-back finals participants. JAM, YG and Duckboy finished 2nd-4th last year.

***Thomas, Bloom and Bramel return to the finals after a one year hiatus. That's eight who have drafted in the final leg before. They join Waldman to make four staffers in the final leg.

***Add to the above the consistent performances from regular Forum contributors Polyethylene Bag, AcerFC and tex and this year's winner will be extremely well deserving of the honor.

Great to be back. I was hoping the top team in Leg 1 (W-L) would get 1.01

Math is confirmed. Email invites and PMs to go out shortly. Timer will start once all have checked in.

Alternates if needed (determined by dice roll): 1 coreyrajahs, 2 Crippler, 3 Multiple Scores, 4 Norton

Jene, with the only player listing being the one under "My Draft List" this is going to be a very difficult draft, in my humble opinion.

And that list appears to be loosely based on last years results, not to mention that it contains no details whatever, only a name and position.

Thanks for the chance to play against the best. Hoping I can hold my own. Will be interesting with just IDPs. What was the thinking behind that. Just curious

It is an extreme honor just to be among these select participants. I will give it my best shot and away we go.

The scoring is the same as last year's finals and both Leg 1 balanced leagues. Links to both balanced leagues are in the first post of this thread and have up-to-date scoring lists by position. Not sure if you can sort those lists to include a combined list of defensive players or not, but it should be sufficient enough to get a good picture of how players have scored in this setup to date.

Offensive players are stupid and deserve to be marginalized at the expense of the true playmakers and drivers of the game. :goodposting:We wanted the final leg to be a true and deep test of defensive players. And it would be very difficult to get 36-40 rounds of drafting in before game time on Sunday, which would be the minimum necessary to be a strong test of all-around IDP knowledge and drafting strategy.

My team was left for dead and nearly advanced with a huge week. Multiple Scores made up a lot of ground on MNF though. Still happy to finish 5th considering where my team came from. Not a lot went right for my team, but taking MJD over Chris Johnson didn't work out too well either.

Thanks again Jene for running this AWESOME league!!Should be a slugfest this year. Can't wait to see how the 2 best offensive minded staffers (IMHO), do against the best IDP mind around(Bramel). :sadbanana:

Not sure how I advanced with an effective roster of 27-32 over the past 3-4 weeks, but I'll take it and hope it continues. Bloom is on the opposite end of the turns, so he'll probably not bug me too much for a change. Waldman? Well, let's just say that I've learned to hate drafting with Waldman.

Tell me about it....look at what I did the last three weeks with barely any wide receiver help....Every one stepped up. I had to root against Garcon, even though I needed him to score in another league to win....

I'll be here to help out if need be.

Looking forward to next year.

Jene,

Was in the Chat Room last night during the Audible and saw you guys talking about this draft, I assume.

For those of us IDP fans, this would be a great opportunity mid season for you or other Staff members still in the race to do a little draft analysis with comments on players, etc.

Just a suggestion from an IDP fan not in this league!!

Congratulations to JGilesBand, who dominated the final leg from the first week and ran away from the pack again last week to stretch his lead to 14 games and clinch the championship with a full week remaining in the contest.

There will be a pretty good scrum for the next few slots this week, but we're all playing for second place.

Thanks Jene. It's difficult enough to make the final leg of this thing, much less win it. A lot of luck for sure considering the level of competition in this group...

Congrats JGB - well done.

As an aside, awesome to see that the spread between all 12 teams this week was less than 20 points (112.75-131.50).

Congrats for a job well done, JGilesBand.

Welcome to the Winners Club!
:lmao: :lmao: Tried to move up to 2nd place with a monster week, but Polyethylene Bag had an equally strong week. JGiles team mailed it in after a week of heavy celebration.
