Best Ball / All-play

PPR Scoring, with 0.5 PPR for RB and 1.5 PPR for TE

1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 PK, 1 Def

Here is my team:

Brees, Drew NOS QB - 11 3.09

Henne, Chad MIA QB - 5 16.04

Orton, Kyle DEN QB - 6 12.04

Brees should start each week, but Henne and Orton have potential. I wanted Stafford, he went right before me. I wanted Freeman, he went right before me. I wanted Bradford to slip b/c of bye...he didn't. I wanted Cutler and then we had one drunk-### moron take a Bears player in every single round until he couldn't think of any more...and he went to Cutler early. That said, odds of advancing are 11-4 now, rather than 3-1. My 2nd weakest position.

Bradford, Allen TBB RB ® - 8 24.04

Jacobs, Brandon NYG RB - 7 7.09

McGahee, Willis DEN RB - 6 9.09

Rodgers, Jacquizz ATL RB ® - 8 15.09

Tolbert, Mike SDC RB - 6 8.04

When When I decided on my strategy after the first 2 picks and I didn't like the RBs at three, I queued up Tolbert and Jacobs. I depended upon getting them, and I wanted Wells too - but the Ryan WIlliams injury screwed me on that front. He'd have been the guy anyway.../rant. With Tolbert and Jacobs both filling the 40-50 percent of carries plus goalline role, they should be solid with upside week to week. McGahee should also be solid if Lammey is to be believed (I believe, obviously). I have an odd feeling on Rodgers and Turner this year, particularly that Turner might be a disastrous pick. No reasons, all gut. So I took Quizz. I ended the draft with Bradford behind Blount in TB because it was him or Isaac Redman and I flipped a coin (not literally). Overall, would consider RB my weakness.

Berrian, Bernard MIN WR - 9 23.09

Bess, Davone MIA WR - 5 11.09

Brown, Antonio PIT WR - 11 20.04

Nicks, Hakeem NYG WR - 7 1.09

Shipley, Jordan CIN WR - 7 14.04

Williams, Mike TBB WR - 8 4.04

Nicks was my first rounder. I think I should have gone Vick. Only 2 WRs required, 1.5 TE PPR, 4 pt pass TDs - and my first pick may have been my biggest mistake. That said, Shipley and Bess both have potential for 10 catch games out of the slot. With Ward old and Sanders hurt, Brown could be very good early. TB Mike and Nicks are both studs with multi-TD game potential. Berrian is a solid best ball player because he's a hit or miss deep threat.

Daniels, Owen HOU TE - 11 5.09

Gresham, Jermaine CIN TE - 7 10.04

Pettigrew, Brandon DET TE - 9 6.04

Witten, Jason DAL TE - 5 2.04

The core of my strategy here. I expect to have 3 TEs going every week except 5. Somebody tried to tell me Witten would have made it back to me...at 3.09. Doubt it. One of my only week 5 byes here, along with Henne/Bess and the Browns. Rookie QB in Cincy should mean TE targets for Gresham, Daniels really came on at the end of last season and HOU still has nobody to complement Andre. Pettigrew is better with Stafford than people think, and Witten is, of course, Witten.

Crosby, Mason GBP PK - 8 17.09

Prater, Matt DEN PK - 6 21.09

Rackers, Neil HOU PK - 11 18.04

Three kickers. 2 high powered offenses that play some good defenses, hoping that will lead to stalled red zone drives. Added Prater for Mile High effect hopefully, plus 3 darts are better than two, right?

Browns, Cleveland CLE Def - 5 19.09

Jaguars, Jacksonville JAC Def - 9 22.04

Packers, Green Bay GBP Def - 8 13.09

Jacksonville gets to play Tennessee and Carolina. Green Bay gets to play Chicago, Carolina, and Denver. Cleveland gets to play Cincy, Miami, and Tennessee. Not much else to say. Thought abut grabbing a 4th, but went with Berrian instead. Could be a poor decision.

Love to see everyone else's analyses of the teams, and some outsider input always welcome. Gonna be a fun five weeks!

My team:

QB - Roethlisberger, Flacco, T.Jackson

RB - McCoy, Gore, Addai, Jennings, B.Scott

WR - Wayne, Colston, S.Johnson, Edwards, J.Nelson, Royal, Gaffney, D.Nelson

TE - Winslow, Keller, Heap

PK - Bironas, Vinatieri

DEF - Detroit, Indianapolis, Cincinnati

Only 2 players with a bye are Flacco and Gaffney.

Went RB-RB-WR-WR-WR-QB-RB-QB-TE-WR-WR-RB in the first 12 rounds.

Feels like a balanced team that is capable of putting up some big weeks while hopefully avoiding any clunkers. Probably have a RB and WR in the flex spots each week.

My team:

QB: Matt Ryan, Josh Freeman

RB: Jamaal Charles, Steven Jackson (week 5 bye), Pierre Thomas, James Starks, Jonathan Stewart, Thomas Jones, Jerome Harrison, Ronnie Brown

WR: Greg Jennings, Miles Austin (week 5 bye), Brandon Marshall (week 5 bye), Chad Ochocinco, Donald Driver, Devery Henderson

TE: Julius Thomas, Travis Beckum, Anthany Fasano (week 5 bye)

K: Sebastian Janikowski, Olindo Mare, Ryan Succop

DST: Eagles, Jets

In best ball format, having depth is important. Even studs can have bad weeks. A few week 5 bye players slipped to me and I didn't hesitate to pick them up. In a survivor format this would concern me more, but in an all-play format I can put myself in a position thru weeks 1-4 that the results of week 5 can be entirely moot.

My plan given the PPR flex format was to grab two solid RBs and load up on WRs. I ended up not taking any TEs until round 15, a strange strategy given their 1.5 PPR but if you look at the TEs after the top 10 or so it doesn't really matter anymore (roughly 30 pt difference between TE10 and TE30 thru 5 weeks). I obviously only need one of my TEs each week to put up some points, I don't feel the TE slot confers a large advantage unless you are snagging one of the elite TEs, which would cost a 2nd/3rd/4th round pick.

See you in the next round, suckers.

Qb: Aaron Rodgers, Mike Flynn

Took Rodgers early in the 2nd and knew I wasn't taking a QB until late. As it got later, I asked myself are any of these few Qb 's really going to outpoint Rodgers? If Rodgers goes down long term I lose. Flynn is actually more than capable of coming in for a game and producing if need be. Took Flynn in the 24th and last round.

RB- Mc Fadden, Michael Bush, Mark Ingram, Jahvid Best, Jason Snelling, Justin Forsett

Locked up the Raider rushing game, should have 1 solid player per week from that duo. Mark Ingram at 3.10 was a slight reach but he didn't have a bye issue, he's their goaline back and I wanted him. J Best at 5.10 with no bye issues was decent, he'll have a few big games and Snelling and Forsett as backups and maybe a decent game that comes unexpected.

Wr- Brandon Lloyd, Julio Jones, Mike Thomas, AJ Green, Nate Burelson, Deion Branch, Harry Douglas, Jacoby Ford

Again, some guys I wanted. I love Lloyd with Orton, I think Julio Jones will produce, took a flyer on Green, Mike Thomas will be solid, I really like Burelson, Branch will contribute, Harry Douglas in round 22 just in case something happens to Julio as Douglas has had a solid camp and I like Ford, big games are coming. All if these together will get me points.

Te Zach Miller Sea, Cooley, Fred Davis, and B Pitta from the Ravens

Cooley is dinged so I locked up the Washington combo. I think whomever is in the game out of those two will contribute. Zach Miller Sea may be dinged some but that's why I drafted sp many late round Te's. He should have a few good games. Took a late flyer on Pitta. I think this guy will make some big plays, but in this format I don't have to predict when he may go off. I'd be surprised if he does nothing.

Kicker - Gostowski and Suisham

Very Solid

Defense- 49ers and Seattle

Average at best

My Qbs, Rbs, Wrs, Ks and Ds do not have a bye week, only my TE spot. Obviously I thought I did pretty well with that.

It'll be interesting to see how it works with just Rodgers. If he starts out hot, then my team should be solid.

McJose killed this one last night. I'm not sure in which way, but he did.

My team:

QB: Vick, Hasselbeck

RB: MJD, Beanie Wells, Lynch, L. Washington, J. Harper

WR: Bowe, Maclin, S. Moss, H. Ward, L. Evans, J. Simpson, G. Little, B. Hartline, J. Morgan

TE: D. Clark, A. Hernandez, Celek, J. Tamme

K: M. Bryant, N. Folk

D/ST: SD, Minn

Likely frequent contributors in bold

*Week 5 bye players in italics

Have fun critiquing. My goal in this was to grab an elite QB and elite TE, grab only a few RBs that would get the majority of the carries and then load up on WRs with big game potential while trying to avoid week 5 bye guys the first several rounds. Vick was my clear target in round 1 and was thrilled he fell. Similarly, getting D. Clark in the 4th round was huge for me in this format. S. Moss was the 1st one of the week 5 bye guys I took but hard to pass on a 93 catch WR last year in the 8th round in this format. The biggest "loss" was Mario Manningham going 1 pick before me at the beginning of the 6th where I ended up taking Lynch. I'm not thrilled with the Lynch pick but he was the last RB that I felt would get a pretty full workload and would allow me to load up on WR/TE the rest of the way. Needing a top 4 all-play record, I wanted to have some really big play guys and think I was able to do that to put up at least 2-3 really big weeks.

Sorry, didn't notice this thread. Added a little more thoughts on mine. Will add my thoughts on the top teams as well:

--Twilight's team is incredibly solid with 2 elite TEs that should put up big points. 4 WRs that I like to score well every week (Wallace, Rice, L. Moore, Garcon) and 2 studs at RB with AP/DeAngelo. Schaub at QB rounds it out. Great draft.

--Rudnicki's team is no surprise. Value with Big Ben that will put up big #'s. 2 studs at RB with McCoy/Gore and a solid #3 in Addai. Wayne/Colston/S. Johnson is a solid trio at WR. Keller/Winslow to boot at TE. No weaknesses and should be a top 5 scorer every week even though I don't see it as a team that will finish top 2 on any given week.

--Norseman's team is probably the other team aside from mine that I like to make it provided Peyton is there week 1. Turner/Benson is definitely adequate if unspectacular at RB. Calvin/Fitz at WR is incredibly strong and I like Graham at TE. Flex plays from Hightower/Floyd/Meachem/M. Lewis should be more than adequate. Not much depth but could put up some big points a couple of the weeks.

I think there's a big dropoff after Twilight's and Aaron's, though, and would think they are both easily going to move on.

QB

Believe Manning will play, but may be a little rusty so had to get a good #2. I think Stafford (and the Lions) will break out this year. There weren't any QB's left after Orton in the 12th that I thought had a chance of scoring for me, so just went with 2 at the position. Should get good production out of the QB spot

RB

Turner is dropping in ADP this year. Hopefully ATL is planning on throwing to set up the run. A few short TD's would be nice.

Benson's first 5 opponents:CLE,DEN,SF,BUF,JAC. If the Bengals can't score (and run) against that, it will be a long season for Bengal fans. With Hightower and Torian, I have 2 chances to hit Shanihan's lottery for RB. And between Tomlinson, Hardesty and Goodson, there is always an injury fill in chance. Should have at least 2 good RB scores weekly.

WR

Megatron/Fitz start gives me best WR duo in league: the only one close is AcerFC with Andre/Roddy. Waited a little too long for my third, although getting a piece of Brees or Rivers targets can alway be a good thing. Hope D Moore lives up to they hype and getting a starting WR in round 22 (Walter) isn't a bad thing. Should have at least 2 good WR scores plus a chance for a flex position

TE

Tight ends went early and often as expected with the 1.5 ppr, as several that I wanted went shortly before my picks. I still like the 4 that I got. Graham came on at the end of last year, hope Brees looks to him early this year. Lewis found the endzone alot last year, looking for Garrard to start and look his way again. Boss takes over for Z Miller in Oakland and should be one of Campbells favorite targets.

Moore is listed at TE but is split out more often than not and McCoy seems to look his way near the goal line. Possible flex play here also.

K & D

Hartley and Scobee. About average

Chiefs and Cardinals. About average

Probably should have taken 1 less WR & RB and added another K & D.

Overall, I believe I have a good chance at advancing.

(thanks for the kind words gianmarco)

Good luck to all

ETA: that was a mess and would like to see some more reviews.

It appears as though the stud TE strategy is working through one week - 11-1 to start for me. I would definitely still go a different direction at RB, guys like Cadillac and Earnest Graham (in hindsight) obviously had more opportunity and potential than Allen Bradford. Dumb dumb dumb pick.

I need Owen Daniels to come through for me now, especially once I hit week 5 with no Witten.

If I could do it again, aside from what I already mentioned, I would probably take RB fliers instead of Berrian and Brown as well.

I'm pretty sure the 39.7 from Henne and the 31.8 from Tolbert had a lot more to do with your 10-1 record this week than your "stud TE strategy" and the 20 pts you got from Witten and Gresham. Put in your #3 RB and the 4 pts he scored instead of Tolbert's ridiculous 32 pts and you're sitting at 160 pts for the week and a 3-8 record. I'm pretty sure Tolbert won't be scoring 3 TDs every week and Henne won't be throwing for 400+ yards. Yes, you still have Brees, but those TEs better start making up for your RBs when Tolbert comes back to Earth. It's only one week.

Not looking as hot this week.

Yeah. At least I didn't lose anybody to injury yet. Still regret the RBs I took as well. Gonna need one more boom week and two average ones to advance. :shrug:Guess we'll see how Monday Night goes and get the final standings!

Looks my I overcame my 7-15 start :excited: and not only advance but have the second best record.

Tentative final standings:

Norsman 38-17

Me 36-19

Cowboy 34-21

Acer 33-22

Outside looking in:

Joe T 32-23

Instinctive 30-25

Good work to the guys moving on! If somebody is unable to draft, I;d like to be at the top of the replacement list since I was close at least...if only I had taken someone other than TB Mike as my #2 WR...oh well. Always next year!
