Thanks, that leaves Fullback Fro only.

I'm sorry to be the only one but I signed up for this league because of the draft time. I work aprox one hour commute time from my house during rush hour traffic. If I commited to 6:00 pm start I may not be able to make it home bye then. The 6:30 start time gets me just enough time to say hi to the wife and kid, start my computer and start drafting.

I'm really sorry guys. But 6:30 pdt is the earliest I can start drafting.

I don't think anyone here would have the problem if you missed the first several rounds. There will be some good RB1s in round 4.

QB

Croyle, Brodie KCC QB 6

Roethlisberger, Ben PIT QB 6

Warner, Kurt ARI QB 7

Bow before the mighty power of Croyle, destroyer of worlds. In all seriousness, I felt that the 4pt td's knocked off the pressing need for QB's in this format. Roethlisberger in the 5th seemed like decent value and gave me a solid QB to pump 5 weeks out of. Although he plays two solid D's weeks 4 & 5, both are better at containing the run which will hopefully lead to some airing it out.

Kurt Warner was a major boom/bust pick, if he starts the season or Leinart stinks up the joint in his first 2 games, he could get pulled and then Warner is a top 10 guy from like round 13. Croyle was just a late-pick for some QB scores week to week.

RB

Peterson, Adrian MIN RB 8

Taylor, Chester MIN RB 8

Lewis, Jamal CLE RB 5

Peterson, Adrian CHI RB 8

Thomas, Pierre NOS RB 9

ADP + Taylor means I have the Minnesota running game sewn up. Even if ADP is 100% healthy, all I need is for them to have one huge running game and CT will likely put up 20 points. Jamal Lewis has a week 5 bye which sucks, but I got him in round 5. I'm willing to take a likely top 15-20 RB that late, even if I miss him for a week. AP2 and Pierre Thomas are both there to fill any holes and give me some points in situations where there really isn't a single RB getting all the touches. Probably my strongest point on team.

WR

Boldin, Anquan ARI WR 7

Bruce, Isaac SFO WR 9

Chambers, Chris SDC WR 9

Curry, Ronald OAK WR 5

Jones, Brandon TEN WR 6

McDonald, Shaun DET WR 4

Patten, David NOS WR 9

Stokley, Brandon DEN WR 8

8 WR. Boldin is awesome, Bruce will probably be the #1 for whatever that's worth, Chris Chambers should get some love from the SD passing game. If he matches anything like the 2nd half of last season, should be pretty good. Curry and Brandon Jones I'm just hoping get enough balls thrown to them to show off what they can do. Patten probably has the best chance of having any value as a WR2 in NO. Stokley was taken purely in case Marshall gets hit with a suspension, in which case Stokley becomes the #1 or #2 WR on the team. Mcdonald was a complete flier I took in the last round, because well... why not?

Don't really stand out here and I'll certainly give points up to some teams, but as a whole I think they'll get mostly decent, if unexciting, weeks.

TE

Gonzalez, Tony KCC TE 6

Smith, L.J. PHI TE 7

Tony G. is a top 3 TE for me this year and really nothing more needs to be said if you know his history. L.J. Smith was injured last year and dropped a lot, I picked him up mostly for some value.

K/D

Bironas, Rob TEN PK 6

Stover, Matt BAL PK 10

Buccaneers, Tampa Bay TBB Def 10

Redskins, Washington WAS Def 10

Two kickers and two defenses, neither of which stand out, have week 4/5 byes and aren't bottom of the barrel. Good enough.

I think I have a solid team, but very unexciting which may of been a mistake. I feel I went too safe after starting AP, Boldin, Gonzalez. Since only the top four can move on, I might've wanted to make my move on some value guys earlier. Especially the ones with week 4 byes as comfortably numb had like 7 guys with week 4 byes that week anyway.

1.04 Brian Westbrook

Love this pick and was very surprised he fell. With Steven Jackson having a bye Week 5, I thought I would have to pick between Jackson and Gore. When Westbrook slid, I was very happy to scoop him up. He may be the best RB in this format and because the season is only 5 weeks long, I am hoping that Westy doesn't have the chance to pick up the nagging injuries that scare so many people away from him.

2.09 Willis McGahee

Even with the heavy PPR in the league, I am always more comfortable with two strong RB's, something that not every team in the league has. McGahee has never been a great backfield receiver, so I don't think that the touches that Rice may get will cut into his stats much, if at all. McGahee gave me a steady presence at RB #2 and allowed me to try to get a little more creative with my next few picks.

3.04 Chad Johnson

I wanted one stud WR and Johnson, provided he doesn't do anything to get himself kicked off the team fits the bill. While I am not enamored by the prospect of him fighting Carson Palmer, I doubt anything will come of the talk. Chad does have the ability to disappear in games, but he also has the ability to go off for 150/2 at any given moment. He also was the last of the receivers I considered to be a true #1, so I was happy to scoop him up. The next three taken were Holt, Jennings and Holmes. I'll put #85 up against them any day of the week. If I have one regret for my picks at the 2-3 turn, it was taking McGahee over Edwards/Johnson. If I do, then McGahee slips...which means that McGahee or Bush is probably there for the taking at 3.04. I was going to take Reggie Bush here, but he went at 3.03.

4.09 Brandon Jacobs

I was very surprised to see him fall this far, even with the week 4 bye. He doubled his receptions from 2006 to 2007 and while I don't see that drastic of an increase again, I do see him with 3 receptions a game or so. Furthermore, he is toting the ball for a run first offense and he averaged more than half a TD a game. He also is the unquestioned starter, at least for the first five weeks. He does have the tendency to get banged up, but again, I hope that he stays healthy through three games, then can rest over the break. Having McGahee and Jacobs should give me one of the best #2 RB's every week and, hopefully, a player in the flex position two or three weeks of the five week season.

5.04 Carson Palmer

I had no intention of taking a QB this early. I had planned on drafting three QBs in the 9-13 rounds and hoping I got lucky on matchups. But, Palmer was the best by far on my draft board (Cutler wasn't taken until 6.02), he plays all five weeks, he has a great matchup week 4 and he throws to my #1 WR. A week where he throws two to Chad could be an 11-0 week for me. Also, taking a QB early, one that I was very confident about, meant that I could run with only two starters, instead of picking three. I knew that I was going to need that extra pick to attempt to bolster my weak WR roster.

6.09 Donald Driver

Probably the most boring, least sexy pick I made all night. Driver is exactly what he proclaims to be...and I think he will be a little bit more of it while Rodgers goes through the learning process. With only one WR in my stable, I needed a player who would rack up a decent number of receptions, get some yards and would have a chance to score. Driver does all of that. While I don't have him down for double digit TD's, I do think that he will improve on his 2007 total of 2. Driver is a great WR #3 in this format. A guy who can get 6 catches for 80 yards and a TD every now and then...the problem was I drafted him as my #2.

7.04 Dallas Clark

While I realized that the 1.5 PPR for TE's was going to skew the numbers, I was not ready for two to go in the second round and for twelve to go before my seventh round pick. At the time, I was mad at myself for jumping on Clark here, but the TE's did not stop flying off the board. While I understand the value of being able to start a good TE in the flex, I think a lot of people were chasing production that may never materialize. While I only have Clark for four weeks, I feel that he is a middle of the road option in those four weeks. I don't think I hurt myself too badly by waiting for so long to take a TE and I think that I managed to snag a guy who will outperform his draft position of 13th TE overall.

8.09 Bobby Engram

What to do, what to do, what to do about receiver #2? Because this is best ball, there is no way to have a bum in your starting lineup. Thus, I thought that it was possible to find value at positions where there is no clear cut #1 starter, but a player has the potential to be a number 1 on any given week. I hoped to find a situation where I could corner the market on the wideouts from a team and hope that for at least three out of the five weeks, one of them could give me production. It would be even better if the other one gave me nothing at all, because I had the guy who would be blowing up. Engram was the start of this strategy and...

9.04 Nate Burleson

was the continuation. With Branch out for the first six weeks, someone has to catch passes in Seattle. They have a rookie TE, backs that aren't great receiving threats, a very good QB and an offensive line that isn't great in run blocking. I fully expect one of Engram or Burleson to have a TD 3 or 4 of the first five weeks. I figure that whichever player does better can plug into my #2 WR slot. The only downside to the Seattle crew is their week 4 bye.

10.09 Javon Walker

Having seen the plan to lock up the Seattle WR's work quite well, I turned my sights to a team with a much less heralded passing attack than Seattle. I debated between Walker and Curry heading into this pick. I figured that I had a better shot that Curry would make it back to me at 11.04. I also think that the ceiling for Javon Walker is a bit higher...but I realize that the floor is a hell of a lot lower as well.

11.04 DJ Hackett

Seeing how this pick is not Ron Curry, it is safe to say that my master plan failed. I was floored when Curry went, figuring that I had this whole thing figured out. I don't like this pick and was a little bit flustered when I made it. I think my team would have been better off had I taken a second QB who was a decent scoring option here, such as Manning or Rivers, instead of rolling with the possible third WR in Carolina.

12.09 Ahman Green

I had gotten to the twelfth round with only three RB's. I like all three of them a lot, but Jacobs does have a bye and injuries are possible, so I needed to back-up. Green is old and I fully expect his leg to come off at some point this year, but Brown is dinged up and I need him for 5 games. I didn't see many better options out there. The Houston running game was effective at times last year and if Schaub can stay healthy, the offense should be able to move the ball. Getting a starting RB in the 12th was a nice pick-up.

13.04 Jon Kitna

This is why I wish I had backed up my QB two rounds ago. I don't think that Kitna scares people like he did when he was in a Mike Martz offense. On the plus side, he does have two good receivers, a porous defense and a running game that consists of Kevin Smith and Tatum Bell. If Detroit wants to score, it should be done through the air. I am just not sure how much scoring they will do. I have a lot of pressure on Palmer now, because Kitna may put up some absolute stinekrs and has a bye week 4.

14.09 Ben Utecht

My third of 4 Cinci players. I needed a backup TE and I thought that Utecht had the most upside of any player remaining. Cinci is not a team that throws to the TE's a lot, but I all I am hoping for is a 2 reception, 5 yard, 2 TD game in one of the first five weeks. Is that really too much to ask? Utecht will have to play for me during Week 4, so I have a lot riding on the Cinci-Cleveland game.

15.04 Buffalo D

The D run had started a few rounds ago, but I liked waiting and snagging Buffalo. They have a very easy opening schedule, with the only tough game being against Jacksonville. They get Oakland, StL and the Cards, three teams that will probably have a lot of turnovers this year.

16.09 Carolina D

I backed Buffalo up with Carolina for no other reason than that the Panthers get the Bears at home in Week 2...when Buffalo plays Jax. I figure Chicago will really struggle on offense and Grossman = turnovers. Hoping they can pick up the one week I think I will need them to.

17.04 Chris Brown

Solidifying my grasp on whomever is the Houston RB. Brown has talent, he just can't stay healthy. If I can get two games where he starts and he produces like he did in two games last year, I am made in the shade. If not, it means that Green should be back there producing, which I am fine with as well. As long as some crazy split doesn't occur, I am fairly happy.

18.09 Nate Kaeding

Kicker run started one pick before me and if it ahdn't, I was going to start it with Kaeding. High scoring O with a good kicker playing all five weeks. No problem here.

19.04 Shayne Graham

Another kicker with potential to put up big numbers. I've dipped heavily into the Cinci pool, but if they manage to come together, I am feeling very good.

20.09 Ben Obamanu

Locks up the Seattle WR position for good. If a Seattle WR scores, I expect to have him...which should give me a starting WR for the week. If Hass goes nuts one game, I may even get two starters out of there

21.04 Steve Slaton

Locks up the Texans backfield. As long as some 33/33/33 split doesn't occur with each guy getting 12 touches, I feel confident that I have one decent RB out of the entire group. Not bad for picks in rounds 12, 17 and 21.

22.09 Ryan FitzPatrick

Palmer's backup. Of all that was left, I'd rather be guaranteed the Cinci Qb than take a shot on a guy like Clemons. I also know I should have someone playing, even if Johnson breaks Palmer's bad knee.

I like my team a lot...which isn't surprising because I drafted it.

I figure that Palmer will start all 5, with the possibility that Kitna gets in for a game.

Westbrook should start every week, with McGahee and Jacobs splitting RB #2. The odd man out will probably be flexed three games.

Hope Johnson is an every week start, figure Driver should start 3 or 4, hope I get 3 or 4 out of the Seattle crew. Means that I need to scrape together three weeks from Walker and Hackett.

Clark should start every week, besides week 4

The Kickers are almost interchangeable.

D's may be Buffalo for all weeks, but week number 2.

After loading my own projections into the Draft Dominator and weighting it to consider only the first 5 weeks, I took a look at the top 25 derived therefrom:

1. LaDainian Tomlinson 2. Brian Westbrook 3.Marshawn Lynch 4.Marion Barber III 5.Jason Witten 6.Larry Johnson 7.Terrell Owens 8.Chad Johnson 9.Frank Gore 10 Adrian Peterson (Min) 11. Marques Colston 12. T.J. Houshmandzadeh 13.Earnest Graham 14. Maurice Jones Drew 15.Willis McGahee 16.Steve Smith 17. Clinton Portis 18. Larry Fitzgerald 19.Randy Moss

20. Willie Parker 21. Dwayne Bowe 22. Joseph Addai 23.Edgerrin James 24. Michael Turner 25. Drew Brees

I wanted to avoid week 4 or week 5 byes as much as possible and especially among my top 4 picks, so that struck Moss and Addai off the list for me. I couldn't justify sacrificing 20% of my early pick's potential points for the purposes of this 5 week league, and preferred not to do it at all if possible.

I really wanted Barber III. but I realized he probably wouldn't get to me at 12. While Witten was #5 on my list I knew that RBs and elite WRs would be snatched up early, and felt I would regret waiting until pick 36 for a #1 starter at either RB or WR, so because of my draft position I struck TE off the list and decided to wait until late for value to emerge.

I always planned to address QB late as there are several players I think are undervalued at this position.

Here's how things went from the 12 hole in this draft:

1.12 Johnson, Larry KCC RB

2.01 Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR

3.12 36. Graham, Earnest TBB RB

4.01 37. Bowe, Dwayne KCC WR

So after 4 rounds I had landed 4 of my top 25 players through 37 picks. I felt this was a very successful phase. I preferred Fitzgerald at #13 due to Anquan Boldin's bad attitude as training camp opened followed (almost immediately) by a tweaked hamstring (Boldin skipped spring OTAs over his contract and promptly suffered a lack-of-conditioning-related injury as often occurs - the hamstring complaint could also be a symptom of his contract dispute). I like Fitzgerald to come out of the gates strong so he was my pick for WR 1 in this first-5-weeks league. I am higher than most on Bowe, but have watched him get snatched in multiple drafts this year well before ADP indicates he "should" go, so I invested 37 on him as I didn't expect him to last clear until 60.

5.12 60. White, LenDale TEN RB

6.01 61. Galloway, Joey TBB WR

7.12 84. Williams, Reggie JAC WR

8.01 85. Anderson, Derek CLE QB

9.12 108. Delhomme, Jake CAR QB

10.01 109. Lee, Donald GBP TE

11.12 132. King, Jeff CAR TE

12.01 133. Boss, Kevin NYG TE

I love Galloway as my WR3 as he may be Brett Favres new favorite target, and he is already Jeff Garcia's favorite target. No downside to getting hiim at 61st overall, IMO. He wouldn't have been there at 84. White is a capable RB3 who will get a ton of carries - hopefully his repaired knee holds up and he plays at 100% this year (White played all last season with a torn meniscus cartilage in his knee, convincing me of his toughness and desire to succeed). I deviated from my plan about bye weeks with Derek Anderson as I feel he is undervalued due to playing in horrid weather at the end of last year (lots of folks talk about him leveling off at the end of the season without accounting for the bad weather conditions he endured at the end of the season). Weather shouldn't be a problem in this 5-week league, and the Browns offense is awesome while the D stinks - much passing should ensue. I planned to add 2 more starting QBs, but that fell apart after the Delhomme/Lee/King/Boss picks addressed my TE hole as there was a massive run on QBs between 133 and 156 (10 Qbs went in that span) leaving me to accept a lean QB roster in this league. I like Delhomme's upside so hopefully he'll have a decent week against KC week 5 - I preferred to have another option that week but it just didn't work out in this league.

13.12 156. McAllister, Deuce NOS RB

14.01 157. Muhammad, Muhsin CAR WR

15.12 180. Ravens, Baltimore BAL Def

16.01 181. Titans, Tennessee TEN Def

17.12 204. Smith, Kolby KCC RB

18.01 205. Darling, Devard KCC WR

19.12 228. Northcutt, Dennis JAC WR

20.01 229. Williamson, Troy JAC WR

21.12 252. Prater, Matt DEN PK

22.01 253. Moore, Matt CAR QB

If McAllister is healthy I got a great bargain at RB4. If not, I'm lean at the position. A roll of the dice. Muhammad was a fantasy mad man the last time he played with Delhomme, and is said to be at the top of his game and conditiioning-wise entering camp. He may wear down later in the season - but in a 5-week long league at the beginning of the year this isn't a worry. Ravens/Titans at D is very servicable. Smith/Darling picks back up some key early picks. Northcutt/Williamson were a Best Ball play - if Jerry Porter misses time early in the season (very probable, IMO) due to his torn hamstring tendon, Williams/Northcutt/Williamson should yield some big games for my squad, no matter who is hot/in synch with Garrard any given week. Prater is a kicker. Matt Moore is insurance for Delhomme.

Strengths of this squad - WR stable is outstanding IMO and I'm very comfortable with my top 3 RBs assuming health issues don't resurface. D/ST solid. TE has established veterans (solid but unspectacular) anchoring with boom potential from Boss if he continues to develop with NYG.

QB is thin, especially week 5, and is probably the weakest link on this team. Depth at RB could be thin if McAllister can't go week 1, but is less of a concern in a 5-week league at beginning of the season IMO.

I came into this thinking to avoid all (or almost all) Week 4 and Week 5 bye players unless really good value came about. comfortably numb's draft made that theory nearly irrelevant. Let's see how this stacks up...

03.05 Drew Brees NO/9

12.08 Jason Campbell Was/10

A little early for Brees, but I figured with Romo off the board and Manning/Brady with the byes, Drew is the clear next-best option. I like Campbell more than most, plus he was the 20th QB off the board, so good value. Both guys play every week, so no need for a third.

01.05 Frank Gore SF/9

07.05 Rudi Johnson Cin/8

15.05 Tatum Bell Det/4

13.05 Kenny Watson Cin/8

22.08 Kevin Jones Chi/8

Gore's talent in a Mad Mike offense should produce good numbers. Cincy RB as my RB2 (hopefully doesn't get an even split) for a 7th and 13th works for me. Again, both play every week, so took a couple late fliers on Tatum (doubt Smith starts right out of the gate) and KJ (was hoping to get DeShaun but Haseley snaked him - best talent in Chi-town, will he play?).

02.08 Steve Smith Car/9

04.08 Lee Evans Buf/6

05.05 Roy Williams Det/4

08.08 Sidney Rice Min/8

06.08 Hines Ward Pit/6

14.08 Robert Meachem NO/9

19.05 Roydell Williams Ten/6

20.08 Chad Jackson NE/4

Crux of most PPR leagues is WR strength, both in numbers and in quality. Smith is my top WR in this with Moss/Wayne bye issues. 85 almost dropped to me in the third; after him, there was a huge tier for me, and I got 3 of them in Evans, Roy, and Ward at WR 19, 20 and 25. Rice is another I'm high on this year, but may be more hit-or-miss. Tried to get NO WR2, but Patten went right after Meacham - maybe should have gone the other way. Roydell/Chad Jackson are late round fliers; may get a week or so from each in the flex, but strong enough I don't expect to need to.

Roy's off Week 4 (and Chad), but that's it.

09.05 Greg Olsen Chi/8

11.05 Ben Watson NE/4

16.08 Dustin Keller NYJ/5

This was one of the more interesting TE drafts. cn goes with 3 by the end of the 5th (and up to that point, those were the only players he had going Week 4). My first 2 tiers were cleared out by 6.03. With the flex and 1.5 TE ppr (vs the 2 ppr that TEs get in the FBG mock drafts), I can see some action, but that was pretty quick - expected at least something to fall back in the 5th, but not once cn grabbed a 3rd. Olsen may be the best receiver in Chicago (not saying much there), Watson could go off (or go zero) any given week (was hoping for Zach Miller but missed by a pick earlier in the draft), and Keller was a flier to give me a second TE option Week 4. Counting on Olsen to score for me most weeks may not work that well, but that's what you get with TEs 15, 20, and 27. Rest of the team should make up for this.

18.08 Nick Folk Dal/10

21.05 Josh Brown StL/5

Someone had to start the kicker run. Grabbed my top K and watched the rest fly (next round and a half was almost all K). Grabbed a second one late just in case.

10.08 San Diego SD/9

17.05 Oakland Oak/5

Someone had to start the D run too. Unfortunately, didn't work as well here, as only 1 other went in the next 3 rounds. Grabbed Oakland as they'll be on the field a lot as well, but figure SD will score most weeks.

Overall, strong QB/WR/D/K, decent RB, weaker at TE.

Will be interesting to see how the best ball works out with some of these teams. A 2-9 or worse week at any juncture can doom you unless you go 9-2 or better the rest of the way (suspect it will take about 35-40 wins to make it out), whereas staying in the top half every week gives you a good shot at advancing.

Plugging into DD with my projections and looking at starter and full team strength, I get Obbide, myself, and Fro as the top 3, Twilight 4th, and a slew of folks right after that (Blue-Kun and Angry Beavers a tier below that). Looking at weekly values (didn't go back and change SOS weights) and assigning wins, Obbide astoundingly finishes second every single week. Fro and I fall slighly behind with one top finish and every week in the top half. Big drop to the next set, with Twilight coming out (3 top tier finishes, 2 bottom tier finishes) with the pack nipping close. Likely won't work that way, but interesting to see the effects.

My team:

QB:

Garrard, David JAC QB - 7 8.03

Rivers, Philip SDC QB - 9 12.03

With passing TDs worth 4 pts, I didn't want to overspend on QBs. I wanted two guys around the 10-15 rank with no Bye week issue. Mission Accomplished.

RB:

Charles, Jamaal KCC RB ® - 6 22.03

Jackson, Brandon GBP RB - 8 13.10

Jackson, Fred BUF RB - 6 16.03

Jones-Drew, Maurice JAC RB - 7 2.03

Lynch, Marshawn BUF RB - 6 1.10

Norwood, Jerious ATL RB - 7 9.10

Love the Lynch/Jones-Drew start, although grabbing Steve Smith in place of Jones-Drew would have worked better because I could have grabbed Graham at 3.10 and likely gotten Holmes at 4.03. Oh well. I've always liked Norwood and I think he may work in more with Turner than folks think, esp if the Falcons fall behind in games. I expect Grant to report soon, but I like Brandon Jackson as well and hope he can be in the mix for 6-8 touches a game. I don't really see the point of handcuffs in a 5 week league, but Fred Jackson is a good player and was great value there, IMO. I had planned to avoid all rookies in this league because 5 weeks seems too short for them to get up to speed, esp if they aren't starting. I had Jerome Harrison all lined up for my last pick. On a whim, I took Charles instead. Maybe I'll accidentally look brilliant.

WR:

Berrian, Bernard MIN WR - 8 7.10

Burress, Plaxico NYG WR - 4 4.03

Gage, Justin TEN WR - 6 11.10

Holmes, Santonio PIT WR - 6 3.10

Jones, James GBP WR - 8 14.03

Randle El, Antwaan WAS WR - 10 18.03

Stallworth, Donte' CLE WR - 5 10.03

I'm big on Holmes this year. I wanted to go for all starters with no Bye Weeks, but Burress was really the best option so I took him. Once again, should have taken Smith at 2.03. Berrian isn't a great 3rd WR, but he should be OK. I was happy to get Stallworth and Gage in the middle of the draft as WR4 and WR5. They both should see a lot of targets. I'm happy to have Jones on my team as I think he will click with Rodgers. I almost went for a young guy for my WR7 but decided that a steady vet like Randle-El would be a good safety valve, assuming he's back from injury.

TE:

Daniels, Owen HOU TE - 8 5.10

Scheffler, Tony DEN TE - 8 6.03

Going into this, I only wanted to carry two TEs and I wanted some decent ones, but not from the top couple of tiers. I was afraid that the 1.5 PPR would cause them to go too fast and a run of the top of my third tier went right before my 5.10 pick. So I decided to go back to back TE and lock up the position with two guys I really like. Both guys went a round or so early, but I don't think either would be there at my 7.10 pick. In hindsight I liked this move, although during the draft I was miserable with the decision.

PK:

Brown, Kris HOU PK - 8 20.03

Reed, Jeff PIT PK - 6 19.10

Got both guys later and both have nice schedules the first 5 weeks.

DEF:

Bengals, Cincinnati CIN Def - 8 21.10

Broncos, Denver DEN Def - 8 15.10

Colts, Indianapolis IND Def - 4 17.10

I knew going in that I wanted 3 DEFs. I was pretty worried that a lot of others would join me when a thread came out on Monday about taking 3 DEFs. My opinion is that DEF/ST scoring is harder to predict and more random than all other positions. So in a short time period league like this one, those 4-6 point differences that a 3rd DEF might score could mean the difference. The other reason that this makes a lot of sense in this league is the player pool available when taking the 3rd DEF. Most of the guys going in the last two rounds, minus PKs, were younger, upside guys, if not rookies. They will likely take longer to work themselves into a steady place on the team and therefore, not be as valuable in fantasy football right off the bat. In a full season league, I'm not sure that a 3rd DEF is as good a move because those younger guys can be pretty valuable down the stretch. But in a short league, I like the strategy a lot, esp since I took a decent Colts DEF that has a week 4 Bye.

All in all I think it's a good team. During my mock drafts with the DD I was almost always the worst team, but my actual draft was ranked 6th out of 12. And I think that's about right. I should be competing to move on, but may not.

First off this was a fun draft to be part of an second I am really happy with how things turned out for this squad. I got many of the players I was targeting. Drafting from the #1 spot is so fun.

Jackson, Tarvaris MIN QB - 8 12.12

Leinart, Matt ARI QB - 7 13.01

McNabb, Donovan PHI QB - 7 6.12

Dunn, Warrick TBB RB - 10 21.01

Jones, Julius SEA RB - 4 8.12

McFadden, Darren OAK RB ® - 5 5.01

Morris, Maurice SEA RB - 4 15.01

Tomlinson, Ladainian SDC RB - 9 1.01

Washington, Leon NYJ RB - 5 14.12

Ginn Jr., Ted MIA WR - 4 11.01

Houshmandzadeh, T.J. CIN WR - 8 3.01

Jackson, Vincent SDC WR - 9 9.01

Johnson, Andre HOU WR - 8 2.12

McCareins, Justin TEN WR - 6 20.12

Moss, Santana WAS WR - 10 7.01

McMichael, Randy STL TE - 5 10.12

Shockey, Jeremy NYG NO - 10 4.12

Rackers, Neil ARI PK - 7 19.01

Vinatieri, Adam IND PK - 4 18.12

Jets, New York NYJ Def - 5 22.12

Lions, Detroit DET Def - 4 17.01

Packers, Green Bay GBP Def - 8 16.12

Went with LT first, but I knew I wanted to snag two WR's without week 4 or 5 byes at the 2.12 / 3.1 turn but I was fearful I would be stuck with the likes of Braylon Edwards, Reggie Wayne, or Holt but luckily some TE's went early enough to push two of WR I was okay with. Andre Johnson and TJ.

My next two picks were both high upside picks. McFadden could blow up. He fell b/c of the early bye but he could still really help me in a few games to pair with LT. Shockey in NO moves him to my #3/#4 TE depending on Gates' status. Having him slip all the way to round 5 and with the week 10 bye made me very glad I snagged him. Especially seeing all the TE craziness that ensued.

On my next two picks I was desperate for McNabb and right about the 6/7 turn I noticed only two teams without QB's and I watched with extreme discomfort as the last of them Jeff Haseley passed on him having no QB at the time. I then knew he would be mine. I was also really wanting Hines Ward to match with McNabb with turn picks but he was snagged by Duckboy just before. I settles for Santana Moss.

Julius Jones on the next turn is just value drafting. Grabbed Morris later to secure the SEA run game. Grabbed Vincent Jackson hoping to get those TD's.

The rest of the draft I Snagged three starting QB's which I think can get me by there. 3 DEF, Two top end kickers. I got good depth at RB and WR. I love McMichael as my backup TE. Al Saunders does good things with TE's.

Overall I think this team can get into the top 4. It helps to get the #1 pick.

You guys put wayyyy more into this than I did. I basically tried to avoid the bye weeks with my early picks, and take BPA as I went along.

I am happy with TO and Romo as my top 2 picks. I was pretty happy to see Grant fall so far. I don't expect him to miss any time.

Marshall was obviously my riskiest pick. We'll see how that shakes out, but it doesn't look good.

I'm comfortable with my TE's. I think Crumpler sees a resurgence this year.

At receiver, I think I'm basically loaded with boom/bust types. I like the idea of Johnson in Martz's offense. Also like that Cribbs could rack up some points for me both as a receiver and a returner.

I took Chicago and CLE defenses specifically for Cribbs and Hester.

Overall, I think it was a very middle-of-the-road draft. If I do manage to squeak through, i will definitely do some things differently for the week 6 draft.

a win again ov - a win again ov

Grossman, Rex CHI QB - 8 20.10

Manning, Peyton IND QB - 4 4.10

Russell, JaMarcus OAK QB - 5 17.03

Ryan, Matt ATL QB ® - 7 21.03

Felt I got decent value grabbing Manning at 4.10, He does have a week 4 bye which hurts and missed out on a decent enough backup so I have 3 guys that I'm hoping don't lose me points on Week 4.

Bush, Reggie NOS RB - 9 3.03

Forte, Matt CHI RB ® - 8 8.10

Jackson, Steven STL RB - 5 1.03

Mendenhall, Rashard PIT RB ® - 6 9.03

Parker, Willie PIT RB - 6 5.03

I don't see Jackson missing time or slowing down and I felt Bush at 3.3 was solid instead of going WR. Looking back I should have went WR here. I like Parker in the 5th round and if Mendenhall steals goal-line carries then all the more with the Cuff in the 9th round. Forte is just a guy that maybe will produce a good week early on but as a bye week fill solid enough.

Cotchery, Jerricho NYJ WR - 5 7.03

Edwards, Braylon CLE WR - 5 2.10

Hardy, James BUF WR ® - 6 12.10

Harrison, Marvin IND WR - 4 6.10

Hester, Devin CHI WR - 8 10.10

Robinson, Laurent ATL WR - 7 16.10

Wilford, Ernest MIA WR - 4 13.03

After Braylon Edwards, I took a risk with Harrison and the double dip, both have early bye's which hurt. Cotchery does too which also hurts. I love him as a WR 3. Hopefully Hester gets garbage time points and Hardy snags some goaline TD's. Not much depth here. Would love this group a lot more if I didn't have early bye's

Carlson, John SEA TE ® - 4 19.03

Lewis, Marcedes JAC TE - 7 11.03

Not much here. Missed out on the TE's. Even at 1.5 Per I thought I could land but they were getting gobbled up.

Elam, Jason ATL PK - 7 22.10

Gostkowski, Stephen NEP PK - 4 18.10

Who cares.

Seahawks, Seattle SEA Def - 4 15.03

Steelers, Pittsburgh PIT Def - 6 14.10

Love Seattle and Pittsburgh's combo for the first 5 games at least.

22 Total Players

Here's my effort

Player, bye, round

QBs

Favre, Brett FA* QB 13.06

Hasselbeck, Matt SEA QB 4, 8.07

Manning, Eli NYG QB, 4, 11.06

Pennington, Chad NYJ QB, 5, 22.07

Since we're only playing a five week season here, I've got some issues in week four. My hope is that Brett Favre will be traded to the Jets or Buccaneers. Week four the Jets play Arizona and the Bucs host Favre's former Packers (wouldn't that be interesting?) As a last effort, if needed, I have Chad Pennington to handle my week four hole. The combo of Eli Manning and Matt Hasselbeck should give me pretty good production. One of them should be able to provide solid numbers and that's all I need.

RBs

Barber, Marion DAL RB, 10, 1.06

Foster, De'shaun SFO RB, 9, 21.06

James, Edgerrin ARI RB, 7, 4.07

Jordan, Lamont NEP RB, 4, 14.07

Taylor, Fred JAC RB, 7, 7.06

Williams, DeAngelo CAR RB, 9, 9.06

My Running Backs are all players who have proved their ability in the past. I don't have a single RB without experience and each has the ability to play well if called upon. LaMont Jordan could be a nice surprise in NE, especially in goal line duty. I think this is a good mix of backs that can put up consistent numbers and all of them have the ability to make plays in the passing game too.

WRs

Booker, Marty CHI WR, 8, 18.07

Clayton, Mark BAL WR, 10, 12.07

Holt, Torry STL WR, 5, 3.06

Walter, Kevin HOU WR, 8, 17.06

Wayne, Reggie IND WR, 4, 2.07

White, Roddy ATL WR, 7, 5.06

Every single WR on my roster is a WR1 or WR2 for his team. Week four I will lose Reggie Wayne and week five I will lose Torry Holt, but hopefully there is enough production from everyone else to pick up the slack. The big surprise here could be Roddy White. With Atlanta losing Alge Crumpler to Tennessee, they will have to rely even more on their WRs, primarily Roddy White.

TEs

Miller, Heath PIT TE, 6, 6.07

Miller, Zach OAK TE, 5, 10.07

The Miller boys should give me adequate consistency with hopefully a few TDs in the first five weeks of the season. I waited til the 6th round to draft a TE and several were already gone. Not taking one earlier gave me the ability focus on positions of strength (RB and WR).

Kickers

Crosby, Mason GBP PK, 8, 19.06

Kasay, John CAR PK, 9, 20.07

Green Bay could really struggle in the red zone without Favre and if that happens, guess who will be kicking plenty of FGs? Mason Crosby - the leader in kicker FPs in 2007. Kasay is a nice backup that is capable of kicking 3 FGs in a game at any time. With three home games in his first five games, Kasay was my number two choice.

Defense/ST

Eagles, Philadelphia PHI Def, 7, 16.07

Jaguars, Jacksonville JAC Def, 7, 15.06

I think the Eagles defense will surprise people this year and Jacksonville looks strong as well. This is a good duo, IMO.

I went into this not as prepared as I would have liked to have been...

Considering only 3 RB & 10WR were in the top 30 in this format and TE scores very high, I was gonna go WR/TE heavy and early.

Here we go from the 9 hole...

1.9

Randy Moss

Easy choice for me I wanted him from the start.

Moss was #3 overall in a WR heavy league

2.4

Tom Brady

I regretted this pick almost instantly.

I was set for Wayne here, but then started considering both Wayne and Moss would be on a BYE week 4. Even though Brady was also on a BYE week 4 with Moss.

Started thinking how Brady to Moss TD's a couple of time per game could be huge.

Considering the higher you score each week will get you more wins over the whole league.

I still think I should have gone Wayne.

3.9

A. Gates

I understand his injury concern, and if he misses anytime, this pick will be a DUD.

BUT, he is still one of the best TE's and with Whitten and Gonzo off the board, I took a chance.

4.4

Kellen Winslow

The only other WR I would have considered here was BMarshall (who was picked next)

I admit, I got scared with his rap sheet thinking if he gets a 2 game vacation, he would be worthless.

So, being TE is pretty valuable and not being thrilled about Turner, Jamal, FWP, I went for KWII considering he was the highest scoring player from 07 available, save a few QB's

5.9

Todd Heap

Ok, 1 thing is obvious, I am not gonna have a great RB's so essentially, considering they are valued the same, I figured I would have 3 STUD TE's as opposed to having 3 STUD RB's that people often aim for. I figured TE will be my flex, every week I will most likely be able to use 2 of the 3 top scores from my TE's

6.4

Calvin Johnson

I could have gone Driver or Marvin or taken my 1st RB in TJones which I fought heavily over.

Not to mention my top 2 WR have a bye week 4.

At this point, I concluded that I would simply have a bad week on week 4, and just wanted to get the players that could produce with high upside.

7.9

Ronnie Brown

I guess it was time for a RB, and Im surprised to see Brown still here.

It was gonna be either Brown or Maroney. (both bye week 4) WTF!

I thought Brown had the most upside early on, and didn't want the NE passing attack and Rb attack.

8.4

Kevin Smith

Could have gone S.Rice, Reggie Brown, Crayton, but figured Smith has a good shot at starting week 1.

And if I consider that I got 2 starting Rb while waiting til RD 7 to pick RB, I consider myself lucky.

When is Smith's BYE week???

9.9

Anthony Gonzalez

Not the guy I really wanted as my WR3 in a WR heavy league.

Only thing that could make this worse was if his BYE week was on week 4....oh wait

Hopefully Marvin ins't done shooting people!

10.4

Matt Schaub

Didn't need a TE, RB's were slim, WR's seemed like a crap shoot.

Figured I needed someone to play week 4. Enter Schaub.

I like his upside, and think he coupld possibly outscore Brady once in the 1st 5 weeks.

11.9

Darrell Jackson

I really liked the potential of this pick.

At worse he is a veteran WR on a solid offense with an iffy #1 WR, who may face legal issues.

I wouldn't not be shocked to seem him being on of my 3 WR's used at least 3/5 weeks

12.4

D. Bennett

If he solidifies WR2 in STL, I think he could have a couple of decent weeks

The rest were basically fliers, hoping to get some time and maybe be able to score enough for their score to count for a week.

In a Survivor league I would agree, but in an All Play league like this it just means he'll go 0-11 in week 4. But if his team does pretty well the other weeks, he can still advance. Not a bad strategy.

Well, we have to use 2 RB's a week and I think that an 0-11 week in a format such as this is an absolute killer. There will be 55 total games. I figure the standings will break down something like:42-1339-1636-1935-2029-2628-2727-2826-2920-3519-3616-3913-42So, if you have an 0-11 week, you need to have 9 or fewer losses your other 4 weeks. Basically, you have to go 10-2 four times, which is tough to do. A lot easier to shoot for 7-4 all five weeks. One bad week from Brady and I think CN is pretty much sunk.

I went into this not as prepared as I would have liked to have been...Considering only 3 RB & 10WR were in the top 30 in this format and TE scores very high, I was gonna go WR/TE heavy and early....I don't think I am one of the strongest teams, but I take comfort in thinking I have the best QB, WR and best set of TE's. My RB's are questionable, but I only anticipate using 1 per week anyway.Good luck!

http://football4.myfantasyleague.com/2008/...=59509&O=26Total Starters: 10

Number of Starting QBs: 1

Number of Starting RBs: 2-3

Number of Starting WRs: 3-4

Number of Starting TEs: 1-2

Number of Starting PKs: 1

Number of Starting Defs: 1

You have to start at least

1 QB

2 RB

3 WR

1 TE

1 PK

1 DEF

1 FLX

So that would mean you have to start at least 2 RB.
:hifive: crap, I must have missed that.

At least you don't have 9 players on BYE week 4 :)

 Was just about to select him, then went for the 2nd of my 8 TE's

:excited:
(Hopefully) 2 games is alot less than some of the other numbers that were bandied about, so hopefully TO, Bryant johnson, and Reggie Brown can pick up the slack.

Delhomme to Muhammad Weeks 1 and 2 looking good now - Muhammad had 2 long pass receptions at Fan Fest last Saturday after Smith was suspended 2 games (Smith didn't participate in the Fan Fest practice).

Also read that Prater kicked a 68 yard FG in practice

However, eight days into training camp, Prater has been impressive. He made heads turn Saturday by making a 68-yard field goal. Sixty-eight yards. Yes, it was only a practice 37 days before Denver's season opener, but 68 yards is impressive in any situation.

"I didn't even know we were going to go back that far today," Prater said after today's practice. "It wasn't in the script. We went back to 68 (yards). I just tried to keep it straight, and it went through."

Denver coach Mike Shanahan was not surprised. He trusts Prater's cannon leg.

"You just watch him kick off. When you watch a guy kick off and (he) kicks it sometimes 10 yards out of the end zone, his leg strength is probably up to 75-78 yards," Shanahan said after today's practice. "That would have been good at 73 or 74 (yards) right there. He does not kick any harder. He has the same swing consistently. Hopefully he can make the ones inside the 45. Every once in a while, depending on what the situation is, a guy gets a chance to attempt one of those, but usually it's at the end of a half or the end of a game."
a 68 yard FG would be worth 6 points...so I guess he's looking good so far. :own3d:

In case anyone is curious, here is how I drafted and why. I actually thought about not sharing this as I don't want to give the competition in the next round any ammo ( :bowtie: )

Actually, I did not spend too much time getting ready for the draft. My only thoughts were A) try to avoid bye weeks where possible and look for value. I reached on a couple of picks ( Colston and to a much larger extent, Stewart), but being stuck towards an end and picking in the 11th spot, I figured I kind of had to. I think I have a decent team. If I had it to over again, I would have passed on Stewart at 3.11 and gone TE or WR. He was my highest ranked RB at that point. I have the sinking feeling I could have waited on him until the next turn.

Cutler, Jay DEN QB - 8 6.02

Garcia, Jeff TBB QB - 10 17.11

Young, Vince TEN QB - 6 12.02

I took Cutler in the 6th round when a lot of other top quality QB's were off the board. I really wanted McNabb but he did not make it back to me. I was very happy to get VY in Round 12 as I think IF he is ever going to be a fantasy star, this is the year. Garcia is a capable veteran who is capable of chipping in a week or two. There are also no bye week issues here.

Bradshaw, Ahmad NYG RB - 4 11.11

Jones, Felix DAL RB ® - 10 9.11

Maroney, Laurence NEP RB - 4 7.11

Portis, Clinton WAS RB - 10 1.11

Sproles, Darren SDC RB - 9 21.11

Stewart, Jonathan CAR RB ® - 9 3.11

I think RB is the deepest position I have. I think most weeks I will be filing the flex with my 3rd RB. Portis should be just fine and I think Stewart will see the majority of the carries in Carolina. Maroney will have a big game or two along the way and Felix Jones is going to be a fantastic compliment to Barber. Bradshaw provides some nice depth behind Jacobs and Sproles - heck that was a 21st round pick with my eyes nearly shut. If LT goes down, Sproles could see a lot of time. I have minimum byeweek issues here as well.

Battle, Arnaz SFO WR - 9 15.11

Coles, Laveranues NYJ WR - 5 8.02

Colston, Marques NOS WR - 9 2.02

Porter, Jerry JAC WR - 7 10.02

Toomer, Amani NYG WR - 4 18.02

Welker, Wes NEP WR - 4 4.02

I like the combo of Colston and Welker. ( week 4 bye included). I think getting Coles in the 8th round was a STEAL. Toomer tends to be a steady eddie kind of vet which is just fine for this kind of format. I think Porter will be a contributor in Jax, although i am aware of his injury issues. This group is OK, not fantastic, but should be OK.

Clark, Desmond CHI TE - 8 14.02

Davis, Vernon SFO TE - 9 5.11

Scaife, Bo TEN TE - 6 22.02

I did not expect TE's to go so quickly. I was happy to get Vernon Davis as I think Martz will use him as another weapon, particularly in the Redzone. Both Clark and Scaife offer some nice potential. Not getting a TE earlier could hurt me.

Dawson, Phil CLE PK - 5 19.11

Gould, Robbie CHI PK - 8 20.02

Top two on the board after missing the big run on kickers. Hopefully Gould is still kicking when Dawson goes on bye in week 5;

Cowboys, Dallas DAL Def - 10 13.11

Giants, New York NYG Def - 4 16.02

Need Dallas to have a good game week 4 when the NYG go to the bench ( home to Minny). Dallas is a top flight D, and NYG won't be far be far behind.

There you have it. This will be interesting.

Good Luck to all

AB

Interesting to see how the teams change as suspensions and signings kick everyone's behinds.
not to mention preseason injuries;I think to survive the first cut in this format, particularly drfating so early, luck will play more of a role than your traditional type of league with a later draft.
