It pains me to say this because I am a big time Bears supporter. I also might be jumping the gun on the extent of the injuried lastnight.

However,

Lastnight the bears D lost...

Tommy Harris - knee

Lance Briggs - groin

Nathan Vasher - groin

it is still unclear how serious these injuries are, we should know more today. Mind you that the Bears have already lost Mike Brown for the season.

Not to mention that Hester didnt look very good lastnight. Dropping kicks, running backwards. IMO Hester is at his best when there is no pressure on him to return the kick to the house. Which seemed like what he was trying to do lastnight. If the O continues to struggle, I believe you will see Hester continue to struggle.

Now the most serious of these would be if the Bears lose Harris for a period of time. Vasher and Briggs are replaceable, Harris is not. Losing Harris drops that D from Elite to somewhere in the lower top 10.

I am also inclined to believe that anyone who has the Bears D is weak in either the RB or WR area. This might be time to look into trading them. You might be able to get a solid RB/WR out of the deal.

While I agree with you about the value dropping if any of these injuries are serious, you can't be serious about the bolded.....Care to explain the Arizona game last year? Or how about the Super Bowl? Surely there was no pressure in either of these situations, right?

I agree, without Harris/Briggs/Vasher, this defense is middle of the pack...

Heck, if Harris is gone for 4+ weeks, I'd deal them...

good posting. the entire defense is injured and SOMEHOW the offense is playing far worse than last year. sucks to be a bears fan right now.

LIMP...its just my opinion. I think when Hester tries to do too much, he isnt as good as when he is just out there returning for the sake of returning

Without Vasher, Briggs or Tommie Harris?

Hell, Archuleta has an air cast on his right arm - and Mike Brown and Dusty Dvorcak are out for the season.

That my friends is HALF of the starters from Game One on defense - and they have to cover 4WRs in Detroit. The Bears only hope is to drive Kitna's Uncle Fester like skull through the carpeted concrete in Motown.

Half of 11?

i think he meansarchuleta with a cast = 1/2 a starter:unsure:

The Bears inability to stop the run in the second half of the season last year was a result of Harris being hurt. If Harris is gone for a while that hurts bad. Additionally, you can't have the Bears O giving the ball away. They are putting huge pressure on the D.

Harris may sit 1-4 weeks with knee injury

Tommie Harris is expected to miss the Bears' game Sunday at Detroit, but his knee injury doesn't appear to be serious.

Bill Horn, Harris' marketing agent, said the Pro Bowl defensive tackle had undergone an MRI early Monday evening, and the exam revealed a sprain. Harris said he sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee Sunday against Dallas.

The good news for Harris is that he is well enough to film a commercial Tuesday night, one promoting Nike's line of cold-weather gear sold at ****'s Sporting Goods. The bad news is the sprain could sideline Harris for up to a month.

"We'll find out more about him [Tuesday]," Horn said. "He told me he was 'cool.' "

Sounds like Briggs and Vasher will be Day-to-day

Finally had the opportunity to take them...and this is what happens to me. Thats what I get for being a Packer fan and relying on the ####ing Bears. :D

Oh well, at least I have the Packers D (picked up after week 1) against Minny this week.

Good grief.

Dan Bazuin, rookie DE - out for season

Michael Okwo, rookie LB - out for season

Dusty Dvoracek, starting DT - out for season

Mike Brown, starting Safety (has been a pro bowler) - out for season

Tommie Harris - starting DT (has been a pro bowler) - out for several weeks

Lance Briggs - starting LB (has been a pro bowler) - injured ???

Nate Vasher - starting CB (has been a pro bowler) - injured ???

Adewale Ogunleye - starting DE (has been a pro bowler) - injured ???

Darwin Walker - was a backup DT who is now starting - questionable last week but played - is this guy ok ???

Did I miss any?

If anyone out there owns the Chicago D and can sell them to someone who is unaware of the above, do it. This is freaking ridiculous. That with the Chicago Bears offensive woes forcing the D on the field time and time again, there's no way in hell this unit lives up to their pre-season draft expectations.

Yeah, if you play in a league full of guppies. You'd be lucky to get a solid kicker for them in any real league. :lmao: :wall: ;)

Can we stop with the "real league" shtick? It was never good, or even remotely accurate.

What do you think their worth is at this point though?Package for Kevin Jones?Straight up for Jones?...?
If someone's stupid enough to deal Jones for that, then sure.Jones is a top 25 RB the rest of the way, with very good upside.
Jones also has the downside of injury history though. The guy is 0-3 and likes to make moves. Start off lowballing him...see what he counters with is the plan.I agree he will not just give him up...but he has been rolling with SD defense and getting killed each week.

If Harris is out, Chicago defense sucks. He is the glue that holds that team together.
Harris is clearly the MVP of that team. Urlacher disappears when he doesn't have two strong DT's in front of him.Look at this sequence after Harris left the game in the third Qtr Sunday night:
Code:
2-7-DAL 25 (8:07) 24-M.Barber right guard to DAL 31 for 6 yards (52-J.Williams). CHI-91-T.Harris was injured during the play. He is Out. Timeout at 07:52. 3-1-DAL 31 (7:20) 24-M.Barber right guard to DAL 32 for 1 yard (95-A.Adams). 1-10-DAL 32 (6:34) 24-M.Barber left tackle to DAL 33 for 1 yard (92-H.Hillenmeyer). 2-9-DAL 33 (5:49) 24-M.Barber right tackle to DAL 45 for 12 yards (33-C.Tillman). 1-10-DAL 45 (5:01) 24-M.Barber right guard to CHI 1 for 54 yards (33-C.Tillman). 1-1-CHI 1 (4:08) 24-M.Barber left guard to CHI 1 for no gain (52-J.Williams). 2-1-CHI 1 (3:24) 24-M.Barber left tackle for 1 yard, TOUCHDOWN.
