Crawford and Bumgarner could pass as twins

edit: scratch Belt, just googled him

I do like Pittsburgh though. Most bars per capita in the U.S. and chicks that are way hotter than I thought they'd be.

Drinks are pretty cheap as well. I know you rag on the Burgh but it's actually not a bad place to live. Also, one of the most beautiful skylines in the country IMO......

I was dead wrong about the Buccos being the better team than the Giants. I'm not sure what I was thinking. The Giants are just such an experienced playoff team and they play great fundamental baseball. They also have one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball. I'm still extremely proud of this Buccos squad (although part of that is to compensate for the embarrassment I have towards the Pens and Steelers lol). Great season! Good luck to the Nats and Giants--I hope one of these 2 teams represent the NL.

This is very similar to last night's game except for the Pirates also scoring 8 runs.

Still, great season and incredible run to close the year.

Edinson Volquez picked a bad night to turn back into Edinson Volquez.

But all of the bars downtown close way early.
They have after hours places though which I found interesting. Actually got into one and then some got got maced and it was chaos.
"After hours" indeed. Was in a place near the Igloo with a group of friends a few years back, on our first night in town. By 8:00 we were the last ones in there, but the 20-something female bartender actually locked the door and continued to serve us for another four hours or so. No mace necessary.

Feel like it was rubbing it in a bit for the Niners to go for two after the William Floyd 7 yard TD run, but Kevin Gildon should've picked up Brent Jones in the back of the end zone.

Love playoff baseball but not a fan of the one game play in.

I like the incentive and reward the play-in game gives to the team with the best record. The 1-seed still has to play a best-of-five, but their opponent had to burn a good starting pitcher to get into the series against them.

Happy for the Giants, they and the Cards just haven't been able to catch a break lately.
Grit and clutchiness win in October.
Maybe baseball just isn't for you. There's probably a U8 soccer league near your home with ties and no playoffs that's more your style. Or a U7 league that doesn't even keep score.
Good ole Truck.

I love advanced metrics as much as the next guy, but if you think intangibles and strategy aren't real components when it comes to baseball, you're stuck in the spreadsheet world and need help getting out.

When did I say I didn't think strategy or intangibles matter? Both are factors as to who wins baseball games, I just think it's a bit silly to say in retrospect that "the Giants beat the Pirates in one game on Tuesday because they're grittier/better/have better intangibles, etc." That's nonsense. They had a great game, but it's one game. If you run that same game 1000 times, the Giants aren't going to win each time, just as if you ran the 2014 NCAA tournament 1000 times, Connecticut wouldn't have won it 1000 times. Or even 100 times.

Bruce, I'm super-sorry I referred to the Cardinals as the "####ty-### Cardinals" and if that rubbed you the wrong way. I also apologize for calling the Royals mediocre, because that's pretty unfair. They're definitely in the top tier of professional baseball teams in the world. I'm also actually/seriously/truthfully rooting for both Kansas teams over both Southern California teams, because i really do legitimately loathe those teams and their dickface fanbases, hence the avatar.

FWIW, the only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was how you went off on me for using the same adjective to describe an 88-win team that lost their playoff game that you had just used to describe an 89-win team that won theirs. Say whatever you want; just be willing to take what you dish out.

I know this year's Cardinals aren't as good as they have been in recent years. It's the lowest-scoring STL team of the wild-card era. You have to go back to the year Herzog was fired to find a Cardinals team that scored less over a 162-ish game season. Not going to make me root for them any less, or make me change how I think about the game and how it is analyzed.

If you want on board because you want to see SoCal MLB go down in October, hop on. The enemies of my enemies are my friends. It's part of why I dig NC State fans so much.
