Up to date FF info in a post-Rotoworld world (1 Viewer)

So news just dropped that Wess is leaving Rotoworld for nfl.com. Along with Rosenthal's departure last year, I'm honestly not sure Rotoworld will survive as a legitimate contender for fantasy fb info. These were two of the best, most prolific, and most accessible analysts.Which got me thinking: if Rotoworld scaled back or cut their minute-by-minute fantasy football updates, is there a legitimate, free, alternative with the same kind of responsiveness and thoroughness? Sites like KFFL and cbssports don't update with the same frequency or detail. Are there any others?

Rosenthal is pretty terrible and Rotoworld's fantasy advice is mediocre at best. The only thing Rotoworld is good at is consolidating up to date information a little quicker than other sites. They don't have any unique content that is worth it's weight.Rotoworld doesn't need either of those guys to keep things going. They just need a dozen or so minimum-wage outsourced workers to scan the newswires, twitter, etc. 24/7 and re-post what they find to Rotoworld. Then they need a person or two to add a little quip that is often incorrect or doesn't make sense.Anyone who was paying for their rankings is better off elsewhere anyways.

This.Don't know many people that keep reading once an article hits the "Analysis" part. As long as they keep giving me a quick news feed I'm happy.

Well, not like it matters anymore since they are both gone, but Rosenthal and Wess were #4, 10, 8, and 12 in accuracy per fantasy pros for 2008-2012. I'm curious who you think was more successful during that time (spoiler alert: it wasn't anyone from footballguys). But that wasn't really my point, which was because the two main guys behind RW's paid content are gone, what are the chances that RW's free content - which everyone admits is extremely valuable - will go the way of the dodo, as well?Because it doesn't look like there are any comparable competitors providing free "up to date information" as you put it. Maybe nfl.com ATL will step into that space :P

Wess has been doin work with his dynasty calls last couple years. I'll check out his content on nfl.com.

I would argue that Dodds' #5 #2 #30 #5 compares favorably when you consider how weird 2011 was. But could understand if you thought the other line was more impressive. It is just that I would rather put money on Dodds next year than Rosenthal/Wess.I am not going to give away too much info for others that aren't doing their own homework - but Paulsen has obviously been killing it.

ETA: I think you are trying to point out that rotoworld's rankings aren't all that bad and actually pretty good. Which I agree with. Full disclosure: I paid for FBG and Rotoworld last year. FBG is a slam dunk for next year and will consider Rotoworld again and probably one other.

Why is FBG a slam dunk?

Henry and Dodds consistently rank at or near the top of all fantasy experts in terms of preseason rankings accuracy and weekly rankings accuracy. FBGs also has the advantage of consolidating a ton of different viewpoints, most of which I don't put much stock in except that it gives more insight into what my league mates are likely thinking. Plus, as I say every year, the Data Dominator, Historical Data Dominator, and Game Log Dominator are worth the price of admission all by themselves.

IMO the sheer amount of material. Setting aside rankings, I think you get your money's worth if you enjoy reading about fantasy football. Obviously I am a fan of Rosenthal's writing style and "call your shot", anti-herd-mentality convictions, but now that he's left the FF biz, I can't think of a comparable source to FBG for paid content.
