Using a Surrogate Drafter (1 Viewer)

It occured to me tonight that my only in-person draft for this year is taking place during a wedding that I will be attending. I'm thinking my best choice is to send someone on my behalf. The problem is that it will be a guppy.

What do you guys recommend to best equip this guy to maximize my roster value? It's an IDP league, fairly straightforward.

The biggest question is: Draft Dominator or Cheatsheet. The sheet is simpler but he'll have to find names to cross off and it's not very adaptive. The Dominator is not that hard to learn even for a noob.

Also, what "tips" do I give that won't be covered by the sheet/comp:

don't take a defense or K until very late.

take an RB with one of the first 2 picks

(for this particular league) don't go RB-RB-RB.

Bottom line is I want something simple but powerful for him, any advice is appreciated.

Assuming you've exhausted all other possibilities (majority of the draft during the recpetion where you may be able to phone in, etc..), why not write a "perfect draft" paper similar in form to Dodd's? It'll take some thought & he'd still need a cheatsheet to keep track, but that may not be as daunting for him as a laptop & a program that has a lot of stuff happening.

I'd also you suggest you look at the Optimal Draft article in FootballGuys and come up with an overall strategy for him based on their predictions. It worked well for me with the number two pick in a twelve team league. Though I had to adapt it a little due to a huge run on RB's in the fourth round. I'd also suggest you take duplicate draft information to the wedding with you such as the cheat sheet and check in with him as often as is practical. If you're going with a wife or a date try not to piss her off too much.

It's a tough situation. We had a guy in our draft who works for the Bills and our draft was right before the Buffalo - Cleveland game. He did not have computer access so one of the other draftors tried to keep him up to speed but he wound up making some bad picks.

Give him your cheatsheet and call him on his mobile phone throughout the evening. He can be your intermediary and tell you who's off the board. If youve done your homework beforehand, this should be sufficient, no?
