With a young QB and a big TE as a security blanket for him on 3rd and 6 - I like Davis. He could easily creep into the top 15 TE. I'd have to know your scoring/roster slots/starting lineups to help more, but he's definately worth a flier as the starting TE.
according to the depth chart this morning. i read on one of those news emails that get sent to email accounts that davis wasn't really grasping things yet...maybe just hearsay, but johnson is first on the depth chart.
My bad - actually FBG is the only place that HAS Davis as the starter Several other sites (including the 49er Official Site - which lists the "Unofficial Depth Chart" - whatever the h that means) do indeed list Eric Johnson. My thought is this:Johnson could easily have a stat line like so 3-12-0. Then in the red zone (they may get there!) the 49ers bring in Davis and his stat line looks like this 5-34-1 and occasionally 4-24-2. Simply put, Davis is a great receiver and huge target. He will be a big part of the 49er red zone offense for a long time.
