Spent a decent pick on him. Really regretting not taking either TE from N.E. Will he get it together this year? Only two targets this game! He's been successful in the past with crap at QB. Is it Harbaugh?
Was one of my dynasty guys I was looking to unload. I think he is overrated. Talented but until SFO finds a QB he is going to put up erratic numbers. Lots of 3 catch for 28 yards games with a few nice days mixed in.Spent a decent pick on him. Really regretting not taking either TE from N.E. Will he get it together this year? Owen Daniel mixed into the conversation? really? I would have gone with a Witten there.I think he'll be fine and those Pats TE's will have some bad games too. Look at what Gates did this week oR Owen Daniels last week, it happens...

Was going to chime in on bolded above......he was in blocking a lot yesterday. Harbaugh seems to be more conservative than we thought, at least during this time of "learning his personnel".....My thoughts:
1) Not a Harbaugh issue, IMO. He and Luck loved utilizing the TE at Stanford.
2) It appears that Davis is in-line blocking more than ever instead of running routes. Perhaps making up for some OL deficiencies?
3) Thank GOD I also drafted Jimmy Graham. No pressure to start Davis until he shows something.
(If I am wrong about point #2, please correct me. I certainly didn't watch every snap.)
I may have. Pain meds kicking in.Somebody missed the point here.Owen Daniel mixed into the conversation? really? I would have gone with a Witten there.I think he'll be fine and those Pats TE's will have some bad games too. Look at what Gates did this week oR Owen Daniels last week, it happens...
Pain meds are great. He was giving examples of good TEs who've been shut down. Witten has had 2 really good games so far.I may have. He probably will, simply because Smith is running out of options, and because Davis has been Smith's favorite receiver the last two seasons. If Ginn can get more stretch the field snaps to clear out some of the coverage in that 12-15 yard range, Davis could really thrive. To the guy who asked about Delanie Walker: he's not a threat. He's the TE who sometimes gets looks as a receiver when Vernon is holding up a guy like Ware. If they want to win and score consistently--well, good luck with winning. But if they want a shot at it, they'll get their best receiver involved. For the year, I still like Vernon better than Fred Davis or Keller. For this week, maybe not--those two guys are both locked in and playing great right now. Ride it while you got it.Anybody out there thinks he gets a bump with Edwards out? rank fred davis, vernon davis, keller
I'm going to disagree with bumping Davis because of Edwards being out....I think Davis may see more attention from defenses now....trying to take him away as the first option....ala what NE did to Gates....if I am game planning against SF, it's stop Gore and Davis....quite honestly if I owned Davis I would be looking to deal while he still has some name recognition, because I think that is all you could get something for him right now....soon that might not be worth much either.....have a feeling you will be giving up points at TE each week if you keep him in your lineup....I'd rather roll out the Evan Moore's, Dickson's, guys you might be able to get on the WW right now....if Cook is somehow available, I'd drop Davis for him right now....think Cook will start to heat up....He probably will, simply because Smith is running out of options, and because Davis has been Smith's favorite receiver the last two seasons. My only real retort to this is that David didn't have Edwards when he went for 900+ yards and a ton of TDs each of the last two seasons. What has changed drastically in SF since then?I'm going to disagree with bumping Davis because of Edwards being out....I think Davis may see more attention from defenses now....trying to take him away as the first option....ala what NE did to Gates....if I am game planning against SF, it's stop Gore and Davis....quite honestly if I owned Davis I would be looking to deal while he still has some name recognition, because I think that is all you could get something for him right now....soon that might not be worth much either.....have a feeling you will be giving up points at TE each week if you keep him in your lineup....I'd rather roll out the Evan Moore's, Dickson's, guys you might be able to get on the WW right now....if Cook is somehow available, I'd drop Davis for him right now....think Cook will start to heat up....He probably will, simply because Smith is running out of options, and because Davis has been Smith's favorite receiver the last two seasons. can't put my finger on it and don't have any real stats to back it up, but to me the biggest thing is that it seems this team just isn't a threat to stretch/spread the field....it's either run or short to intermediate passes...teams aren't scared of being beaten over the top...they will take their chances on Smith's ability to beat them with deep pass plays....thus sitting down on the stuff underneath...it is hard to make Davis a big part of the gameplan when you know the defense is maybe going to focus on shutting him down because there really are no other threats....let's compare Davis to Finley....talent wise, athletic wise, you could say they may be on par with each other....slight nod here or there to one or the other.....put Davis on GB and what do you think you would get..?...probably pretty good production and I would say it is because the talent around him and the ability of GB to stretch the field, QB play, and ability to make plays all over the field is a huge advantage....I just don't see SF having the weapons going into this season, or for the rest of this season, to open things up for Davis....I could be completely wrong, but I just have a feeling teams will focus on taking him out of the game more this year than in years past and his stats will suffer accordingly....as a fantasy owner...I don't want to be chasing what I have seen from him in the past....waiting on those couple of weeks where he breaks a tackle and makes a play...I want to look at how things are now and how teams might be attacking the SF offense...if you think it is going to get better in SF then by all means hold and keep starting him...but I'll make the call that Davis finishes outside the top 12 this year and a few guys who you could have snagged and maybe still can snag off the WW will finish ahead of him...then again I could be totally wrong and he is a beast the rest of the year...but sometimes when we draft a guy as high as you probably had to do to take Davis, we have a hard time letting go and we think "this just can't be".....sometimes it is....My only real retort to this is that David didn't have Edwards when he went for 900+ yards and a ton of TDs each of the last two seasons.
