Vick Broken Right Hand (1 Viewer)

It was so widely expected that Vick's playing style would get him injured this season, that I decided to be a contrarian and bid high for him in one of my action leagues.

I hate it when everyone else is right. :football:

Does broken non throwing hand keep you out the next week? How much time does he miss?
If his hand is in a cast, I can't imagine him being able to take a snap without major problems. Even in shotgun, he won't be able to catch the ball cleanly. I bet he's out for a month+ if a cast is put on.

I can't see him playing again this year if he requires a cast.

You know there are 14 weeks left in the regular season, right? You really think he's going to wear a cast for over 3 months?

So who's the pickup for next week, Kafka or Young?
Who? :boxing: Hate to see anyone get hurt, but really... Hope Vick owners drafted a quality back-up. Huge blow for other starting 'Birds for sure. That said, I gotta make a plug for Young here as the more experienced player - if he can go for the long-haul. Better to look at other options outside Phila IMO...

I assume Andy Reid was mum after the game?
Vick was whining. Deion set him straight as to why he gets hit more.
You obviously only heard the part of Sanders' comments that you wanted to hear. The Giants delivered some very questionable, and some blatantly flagrant hits on Vick today and never got flagged once. They were obviously making a planned attempt to injure Vick and they succeeded. I think all of the new rules to protect QBs are BS. Pro football is supposed to be a game played by men who are supposed to be tough. But the rules are what they are, and Vick has a legitimate point. If Tom Brady was out of the pocket scrambling and an opposing DL ducked his head and speared him in his throwing shoulder as he delivered a pass, there would be flags all over the field.

Lol, eagles got all the benefits of the refs today. There were no flagrant hits on Vick. Eli had face mask turned, no flag. Cruz on his second td was pi by nmandi and was face masked

Writing was on the wall in the preseason (unfortunately for the Birds)... all the FF draft day jib-jab was about how bad the O'line looked and Vick was going to get crushed. All coming true I'm afraid.

On top of that the Iggles middle defense looks absolutely dreadful which will equate to fewer chances for Vick and the offense.

Dream Team Not!

He's not injured... he's hurt... a lot.I'm a Vick owner by the way. Just don't feel the urge to ignore the obvious like others on this board.

Vick is injury prone. As an owner of him in 2 leagues, I accept it and start my backup until he returns. I see no reason to cry about the officiating.

On NBC in Philadelphia, Howard Eskin is reporting Vick likely to miss the next 3-4 weeks.

Side note: Eskin is also reporting that Maclin may miss next week as well (hamstring)

No link obviously as it was on TV

The problem is Vick goes into running mode more often and once you are in run mode the hits are gonna be harder and legal.he has no reason to whine. if he wants to whine he should whine at his own athleticism because everyone on the field knows he can score in a lot of different ways and teams are keeping a eye on him in every direction and referees do not want to call plays dead because they know he is capable of getting out of it.in turn he gets hit.

As per Ted Lange:

Reports from NBC Philly, saying Vick out 3-4 weeks. ouch.

Michael Vick (broken right hand) will miss 3-4 weeks, according to Howard Eskin of NBC 10 in Philadelphia.

Eskin serves as the Eagles' local sideline reporter and is also regarded as a mouthpiece for the team. If his report is accurate, the 1-2 Eagles may be forced to hold Vick out through their Week 7 bye. That would mean three weeks of either Vince Young or Mike Kafka. For now, we'd consider Young the front-runner for the job after Kafka faceplanted in relief duty during yesterday's loss to the Giants.

Is it normal for an injury to a non throwing hand to take a QB out for a month? I just remember seeing some QBs have broken fingers taped back up, numbed up, and missing no time.

if the HAND is broken, how do you expect him to take snaps?or break a fall, or stiff arm etc etc...I seriously hope that's not the hand he holds his mirror with

I don't know. That's kind of why I asked a question. I'm sure it would be very painful, but is it impossible? What's normal for QBs with this injury?

I actually agreed with the email joe sent, it looked like he got hit in the head and his hands went right to his head, and they showed him multiple times holding his head on the sidelines, it really looked like he may have some concusion issues, on top of the hand problem.

So is it Kafka or VY?

VY isn't known for his smarts and hasn't had many reps, but the guy plays more similar to Vick, might survive behind the line better, and has a wining NFL record. Kafka, on the other hand, is Reid's guy, seems to know the offense, looked good enough last week at least, and played well enough to make Kolb expendable in Reid's eyes.

Kafka looked awful yesterday

can't you just see both QBs playing in different situations? i can, and i don't like either one.

Oh stop it. If you're scrambling out of the pocket, the defense is allowed to hit you in the shoulder. Let's not get crazy here, the officiating in yesterday's game was fine.

If Tom Brady broke his non-throwing hand, he'd play the next week.

Think Kafka performance is excusable and might be closer to the guy we saw vs Atl. First pick was inexperience, just trying to make something happen. Second pick there was no underneath route, so no choice but to again take a shot. They may very well go w/ Young but Kafka may do well given the chance. Google Kafka and you'll see lots of praise from Eagles front office on his football IQ and work ethic.

Per Andy Reid presser going on right now it is a "hand contusion"

Not a break or fracture. :pickle:

They're waiting for the swelling to go down and they'll go from there. Reid didn't rule Vick out this sunday....or eating an entire cow before game day.

Well as an Eagles fan and having to deal with both the Atlanta and NYG games this is the best news I have heard the past 2 weeks.

Fat jokes are so unoriginal but this literally made me LOL.As a side note: It's really sad that on a busy work day my mind is preoccupied with the another man's right hand.

Damn you FF, damn you!

6 minutes ago - by Kevin Noonan - Good news, Eagles fans: Vick does not have a broken hand

QB Michael Vick has a contusion, not a fracture, in his right hand, coach Andy Reid said on Monday. Reid said there is swelling and soreness in the hand and when asked if Vick could play next week, Reid said "We'll see." Eagles RapidReports

Im no doctor..

.but it sounds to me that if Vick can take a snap and cradle the ball in his right hand with confidence when he runs; then he starts.
