It's widely accepted that Vick is the biggest injury risk at the QB position in 2011.
It could be argued that drafting Vick forces you to draft another top 15 QB to fill the void when the inevitable happens.
A few options that aren't discussed as often are hand-cuffing Vick with Vince Young and/or picking up a fringe starter on an explosive offense.
I'm assuming that Vince Young did not get drafted in most shallow leagues (12 teams or less). Judging from all the negativity surrounding Kerry Collins on this board, I feel like I can safely assume that he isn't owned in many leagues either.
The Eagles have a bye in Week 7. The Colts play the Saints on the road in Week 7. That game should be a high scoring affair.
I'm a Vick owner who decided against forcing myself into drafting a back-up QB higher than I wanted to and instead am going the route of rostering both Collins and Vince Young at least for the first few weeks of the season until we see how well Collins performs with all those weapons. I'm not the biggest fan of Vince Young but I am not going to pretend that he wouldn't have some pretty nice value running the Philly offense. The coaches (Reid and Morningwheg) have been impressed with his progress in picking up the offense so it'd be interesting to see what he'd look like in the event that Vick were to go down with a multi-week injury.
I seem to be alone in my assesment of my situation when discussing it with my league-mates. They all think I'm crazy to assume that Collins can succeed in Indy and all but a few of them think Vince Young doesn't have what it takes mentally to orchestrate that Philly offense. The only point they make that I somewhat agree with is using three roster spots for the QB position can be a waste of resources if you don't have necessary depth at other positions. Luckily, I do have enough depth so at the moment it's not an issue.
If you own Vick, who do you have as your insurance policy?
