Vick update? (1 Viewer)

Anyone?

Other than he's out for Week 5, I haven't heard much. When do we expect him back?

(Big Ben is on my FA list!)

my guess would be week 9. the eagles bye is week 8, and it seems like teams often use the bye to give guys extra time to heal if possible. i guess how kolb is doing and how healthy vick is also are factors that could possibly bring him back before the bye. without any inside information, i almost feel strongly that he'll be back week 9.

agree with this completely, If Kolb plays well enough Vick might not come back as the starter either.

I agree if you have Vick trade him if you can get good value .I dont see Vick back untill week 9 at the best ..But I really think hes gonna be 2nd string the rest of the way.

he also said Kolb was the starting QB no matter how good Vick played, you see how that went...I dont trust Reid at all, so if Kolb comes in and the Offense shows some rhythm I just dont see them switching QB again and risking messing up that rhythm....but thats all assuming Vick misses more then 1 week.

Philly plays Atlanta coming up. I wouldnt be suprised if Vick puts on a Flak Jacket and plays. Mccoy didnt do too bad

Vick's injury explained further

According to Eagles coach Andy Reid, quarterback Michael Vick has a crack in his rib cartilage, and running back LeSean McCoy has a crack in a rib bone.

Brian Sennett, chief of sports medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, said the injuries are similar but different.

"The last one inch of the distance from the rib to breast bone is cartilage," Sennett said. "It is different from the kind you'd have in a knee. It looks like a rib, but it's made of a cartilage material that allows you to have flexibility so your rib cage can get bigger. These structures look like ribs but are a rubbery material."

When you injure your chest, one of three things can happen, Sennett said. You can break a rib, injure the junction of the rib and the cartilage, or injure the cartilage, which is what Vick did.

"His is to the cartilage," Sennett said of Vick, "and so you would manage it similar to a broken rib. Usually the player is out somewhere between two to four weeks."

The Eagles have not detailed the exact location or severity of either injury.

I think Vick will play in two weeks vs Tennessee
yeah thats what im afraid of too. I think Kolb played good enough that they dont have to rush Vick back. The only unknown is how strong is Vicks drive to play against his former Falcons. I would love to see him torch Atlanta

This coincides with what I've heard and read. Apparently, with a break to that cartilage Vick's rib has separated from the sternum. With a mobile QB a mobile rib doesn't sound like a very good reason to wear the flak jacket. Eagles have Falcons next week which I know he probably has extra motivation for, but the mature Vick should know that his future is better served resting for that big pay day. I just have my doubts that he'll be able to heal that fast. After wards Titans play hostess and I could see this being Kolb's final game/hoorah. The titans have allowed 242 yds a game through the air thus far, good for 6th worst overall. Not a bad time to see what you've got in Kolb before Vick. The week after is a bye week, which gives Vick the chance to get his timing down etc once again, and to get back into playing shape. (which won't take much, because I don't believe he's slouching right now).

Michael Vick remained out of the Philadelphia Eagles' practice on Wednesday but refused to rule out the possibility that he could play on Sunday against his old team, the Atlanta Falcons.

Vick threw on the side for what coach Andy Reid said was the first time since he suffered a rib injury in Week 4.

The QB was asked by the Philadelphia Inquirer if he thought a return on Sunday would be unlikely.

"I wouldn't say that," Vick said.

From Mike and Mike this morning it sounds like Vick is a longshot to play, but he has not given up hope that he will this week.
