Vikings' Troy Williamson Caught 20,000 Balls This OffseasonPosted Aug 2nd 2007 9:16PM by Ryan WilsonI have a lot of admiration for Troy Williamson. He was drafted seventh overall in 2005 -- to replace Randy Moss -- and proceeded to bumble his way through his first two NFL seasons. But he never made excuses, took full responsibility for sucking, and spent this off-season working on his hand-eye coordination. And now, after dropping the very first pass he saw in training camp -- and another one that same day for good measure -- Williamson is feels like this is finally his time: ... "I just can't wait to get back on the football field and really show the type of player I was drafted to be ... Everything is going to pan out. I worked too hard in theoffseason not to have a good year. I'm going to do what I've got to do this season to make myself better."The all new soft and cuddly head coach Brad Childress noted a change in Williamson's demeanor, and praised his third-year wideout for working to get better. (According to the story, Williamson caught 20,000 passes this off-season. Sounds like overkill, but hey, the dude had 11 drops last year.) "I might drop a ball here and there, but I want to come back and catch the next one," Williamson said. "That's really what it's all about. ... I've got a mindset now that you've got to have a short memory. A lot of things happen in one football game." Again, kudos to Williamson for his frankness, and I hope the guy has a great season. Getting rid of Brad Johnson is a start, but Tarvaris Jackson is still a big question mark heading into the season.
