WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon will make a major sports announcement today at 3 p.m. ET, streaming live from the digital platforms of his new enterprise, Alpha Entertainment.

The live stream will be available via Alpha Entertainment’s Twitter (@AlphaEntLLC), Facebook (facebook.com/AlphaEntLLC) and YouTube (youtube.com/alphaentertainment) pages, as well as AlphaEntLLC.com.

This could only mean one thing:  OUR WORST NIGHTMARE IS GOING TO HAPPEN.  THE XFL IS COMING BACK!

 
How are we going to get any more extreme than the NFL is now? Are we watching those hits and CTE, or are we dreaming?

maybe Vince will have them play sans helmets ... or with the old school leather ones - that'll curtail the CTE epidemic toot sweet - don't recall ever hearing of that (CTE) problem w/Rugby players  :shrug:

I turned 21 that fateful year of XFL and Orlando had a team...good lord did we have fun at those games!  The tales of "cooter toe" and "dirt foot" originated from tailgating there...a 6-pack of PBR shall be purchased in celebration should this announcement be made

 
I hope it isn't that certain WWE wrestlers are being suspended for steroids.  The OP would be forced to stop posting about them.

 
I bet it is to announce that he is not going to resign with USA and instead use the streaming network as his home for all wwe action

Objectively, it will be interesting to see if he tries to compete with the NCAA for JUCO-type guys like those from Last Chance U who just will never cut it academically at a Power 5 school but can play. Mix that in with NFL/CFL write-offs and some loose hitting rules and it could be interesting.

 
He will announce his intention to be the new majority owner of the Carolina Panthers.

I think I saw a study that said playing without a helmet may curtail head injuries, by reasoning that without the helmet, players would be less inclined to hit somebody headfirst. You did bring up a good point, I hardly ever hear of concussions in rugby. Broken bones and blood everywhere, though.

Nightmare?   I will watch it in the spring.

 
World Wrestling Entertainment announced that founder Vince McMahon will make "a major sports announcement" on Thursday, which will likely mark the return of the XFL.

ESPN reported that McMahon is attempting to start another professional football league, and CBS Sports reported that "the return of the XFL will be made official Thursday," adding that the league is not expected to start again until 2020.

McMahon is set to make the announcement at 3 p.m. ET

I bet they sign with Fox but also increase their on-line offerings. Like maybe Raw on Fox and Smackdown as streaming only

Razor Ramone and Big Poppa Pump are returning to the ring as a tag team. There's going to be a new "legends" division. 

 
WWE XFL team ideas: 

QB - the Miz. Smart, reads the room, Hollywood looks. Maybe Rollins?

RB - Neville. Quick and powerful. Tough to bring down. 

TE - Roman Reigns. Works in the middle a lot. Superman on fade routes. 

Defensive line - BRAUN Stroman. Only need one guy for the entire line. 

LBs - New Day. Great at functioning as one unit. 

Coach - Daniel Bryan. 

 
If he was smart he would address the xfl to Trump supporters.  Make some team names really racist so they can be villains.  Fighting is encouraged.  Players can get drunk.  Cheerleaders are also strippers.  Every once in awhile have a player get run over by a nascar car.  Monster trucks that blow up at half time.  Extra points if you kick a guy in the groin

it would make tons of money
