Vince Young vs Tim Tebow? (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
Who knows how Tebow will turn out, but is it really that much more of a sttretch that the Titans using the #3 overall to take Young?

Coming out of college.

Throwing mechanics:

Tebow-Horrible throwing motion

Young-Horrible throwing motion

Reading of defenses:

Tebow- Defense reading..OK

Young-defense reading horrible

Leadership:

Tebow- Very good

Young-Very good

Running ability:

Tebow-Very good

Young- Very good.

Willingness to learn and work hard:

Tebow- Anything it takes

Young- After being benched realized there is more to this game and came back with a strong work ethic.

What makes Tebow anymore of a late first flyer than Vince Young was as the #3 overall? It will be three years before this pick can be judged. Vince Young came into the league the same way and had some rough waters but has worked out OK.

Vince is a much more dangerous runner at the NFL level than Tebow will be.

That said, Tebow accomplished a lot more as a passer than Vince did at the NCAA level.

Way too early to say anything positive about Vince Young, IMO. Young has had one good season in Tennessee in four years. And it was a half a season. His rookie year he completed 51.5% of his passes. His second year he had 17 INTs and 9 TDs. His third year he played in one game. Last year he was good, but who knows if Young continues to play well or reverts to looking like a guy who is in way over his head?

Nothing to work with here. Neither is a franchise QB. Neither will be. Franchise QB's are needed to win Super Bowls unless you have a TB or Balt. defense circa early 2000's. Basically both are a waste of time if your goal is winning Super Bowls.
