Waiver Transactions and Trades? (1 Viewer)

Hell Diablo

Footballguy
In a league I am in we are limited to 10 waiver wire pickups for the season.

I made my last move last week.

However, I have also made two trades this season and now am being called out as having violated the transaction rule. The guy is saying that trades are transactions. However, on rtsports there are two distinct tabs, transactions and trades.

I don't believe I did anything wrong, but I'd like to see what you guys think.

What is the exact language of the rule. If it says, "Waiver wire transactions" or "Waiver wire pickups" then since it was explicit in its wording I wouldn't consider trades as part of the limit. If it just said "Transactions" I would include any transaction including trades.

That's part of the issue. We don't have the rules written down. The commissioner has stated that everything I've done is Kosher, but this guy (who is good friends with the commish) doesn't agree.I'm just looking to see what you guys define as a transaction I guess. It won't make a difference as the Commish has already made his call, but I'd like the info so I can get some documentation set for next year so people can't say I've done something wrong when I honestly don't think I have.

In my rules, I use transaction to cover any roster change or lineup submission, including waivers, trades, or IR moves. Though I personally think it's odd to limit the # of trades someone can do short of leagues that don't allow trades at all.In any event, I'd suggest to this guy it doesn't make sense to argue over the semantics of a rule when those semantics don't exist because it isn't in writing. And then suggest we redevote our efforts to getting the rules down in writing ASAP.

"Transaction" *might* not include trades.

"Moves" definitely does - I'd argue that since the rule does not say "moves" it is ambiguous and you did nothing wrong.

The guy b*tching can complain all he wants and get a rule in for next year, but what is done is done - if the commish did not enforce the rule prior to your moves, there's nothing the friend of the commish can do - tell him to go suck a pickle. :pickle:
