Best matchups of the week for defenses that could/should be available:

Nyj @ NE

Cle @ DET

DET @ Cle

Buf @ JAX

Mia @ CAR

Ten @ HOU

I went with the Lions as the Cleveland offense is historically bad ... literally. The Jets offense is Jekyl and Hyde and you never know which will show up. Not to mention that Thomas Jones NEVER fumbles so the only turnovers you can really hope for are INTs or WR/Special Teams fumbles.

Carolina could be a sleeper as they have been playing better of late and Miami will be without Ronnie Brown. This will make Miami's offense conventional and take away the threat of the wildcat (unless they run it with Pat White assuming the role of Ronnie as I don't think they have anyone that can assume the role of Ricky if Ricky were to take over as Ronnie).

What do all of you think?

If you lose points when the opponents defense scores you may be screwed. Quinn is God awful for the Browns for sure, Stafford is the better QB in that game and that isnt sayng much and the Browns defense had some sparks in Monday night game. Although they are coming off a short week. Might be a decent play to go Lions here.

Good point. We are penalized when an opponent's special teams scores, but not an interception or fumble return. With Josh Cribbs likely out, that makes the Lions an even stronger play than I at first realized. It really boils down to Carolina or Detroit for me. I already picked up the Lions but may change my mind and go Carolina. (Can't believe I'm saying that)

No I wouldnt. Miami is without Brown though and that could really affect them. You are probably on with your Lions hunch though.

The Browns pressured Flacco a lot Monday night. I think they will have an easier time pressuring Stafford. I like the Browns D.

What about JAX v Buf? With the Jauron firing, and Fitzpatrick named as the starting QB, that looks like a trainwreck.

Why is nobody talking about the Cards? Are people expecting the Rams to put up some offense?
Cards were already owned in both my leagues so I assumed they were probably owned in most others. The very first sentence of the first post says, "Best matchups of the week for defenses that could/should be available." I guess the Cards should be included under the term "could."

Are people expecting the Rams to put up some offense?
And to your 2nd point:Stephen Jackson is BEASTING right now. I really wouldn't want to mess with playing against him at this time without a top defense.

And they are on the road. I always lean toward a home defense.

He doesn't have a concussion, and their coach said he might practice later in the week.

cards have been Jekyll and Hyde against the runforte didnt do anything but forsett had 120 yds last week and carolina had almost 300 yds on them a few weeks agosjax could have a big game

I'm hoping for a big game from SJAX vs ARI this week :bowtie:

As far as Detroit vs Cleveland...I like Detroit's D better out of the two, but that's just me. I feel there are more playmakers on the Detroit offense when compared with the Cleveland offense. Calvin Johnson obviously...and Kevin Smith is pretty good as well.

I think that looks like a brutal double header for those 2 teams. :drive:

Really can't figure out why the Bengals aren't mentioned in this thread... I actually dropped the Eagles which is the #2 defense in my league for them this week.. they have Oak, Cle, Det consecutively... I'm rolling with them to the playoffs then using the Cards'.

Thank you for the pearls of wisdom. After watching CIN shut down PIT last week, I'm giddy about the rest of the season against the weak sisters.

Yep I picked them up and kept Eagles. I looked at the next 3 weeks and said giddyupp. 8 team league and I was still surprised they were available. Dropped Bowe since he was my 4th wr in start 2 anyways.

I sent GB to the WW last week in exchange for Tennessee. GB was still on our wire even after that impressive showing against Dallas(they scored -7 points combined the previous 2 games).

Scooped them up to use the next 2 weeks. Jimmy Rae and company will not be putting up a ton of points cause once they get the lead we know they will sit on it as long as possible. I'm also not a big believer of Alex Smith in Lambeau.

With Nelson coming back to kick return duties and the Lions next week and I think they are a great defense to take you to the playoffs, if available.

No offense to anyone, but what kind of league are the Bengals Def available in right now?
My very competitive league with a short bench where you can't carry two defenses.... apparently someone dropped for the bye week then folks avoided pickups for the Ravens game (lot of Ravens fans in the league) then Steelers. And of course, they were quite obviously the #1 waiver target even over the Snelling/Forsett crowd.Don't be so quick to question.

Same, my 10 team redraft has a certain roster limit on positions... DST you can only carry 2. With last weeks blood bath and bye weeks, it's impossible to carry 2 DST's.
