Waiver Wire Gems - Week 8 Edition (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
1. Wali Lundy - If Lundy survived on the Waiver Wire in your league, he's looking like the man in Houston and *possibly* a productive back. He just played very well against a solid D.

2. Marty Booker - Yes, yet ANOTHER Miami receiver. Booker was the go-to all day today it seemed. And more than anything, he was clutch for Joey. I think Joey stays with Booker going forward, the ol' scrappy vet.

Nate Washington, Chad Jackson, Wali Lundy.

Jackson will be gone in most leagues, but the other two should be there.

Also....Trent Green will be back in a week or so, and I'll bet he was dropped in a lot of leagues.

I believe Trent told Mort it would be 3 or 4 more games.

KFFL is reporting today that it will be at least two weeks before Trent even begins to practice fully.

In my league Jackson is available and the other 2 are gone.

What kind of leagues are you guys in to have anybody mentioned in this thread available on a waiver wire? ;(
God I hate people like this. No clue about the variety of leagues out there.I'm in an 11-team league. We roster 11 offensive players, 9 of whom have to play on a weekly basis. It's hard to carry guys like Nate Washington and Chad Jackson when you factor in all the byes in the first 8 weeks of the season. I actually drafted Chad Jackson, but cut him when I was able to make a 1-for-2 trade (Chris Brown for Droughns and Dillon). And there's probably no reason for me to pick any of these guys up right now, because we cut to 10 (rosters are 15 to incude IDP and K) and have a 2nd-half draft after Week 8.

Potential starting pportuntities move up a couple of QB's (Wallace/Batch), and a dropped Marty Booker moves up the list...otherwise, not a whole lot of movement this week

Without making this to much of a AC post, whose a better pickup Batch or S.Wallace?

(if u had to make this decision with the information know now)

Batch:

8/13 195 2 0

Wallace:

14/25 134 0 2

Not sure of the status of the injuries but hasselbacks looked far worse. He could have a 4-6 week injury.

I think Batch is a better pickup than Wallace. I was watching that SEA game and Wallace looked lost out there. Granted it was mid-game, but he did not look like a solid NFL QB.

OTOH, Batch stepped right in and produced. Did the same thing Week 1. I think Batch is a solid QB2 if Big Ben misses time.

If Wallace logs serious time in SEA, downgrade all Seahawks.

I picked up Batch and then dropped him for Wallace (we start 2 qb's and they're always in short supply). Big Ben didn't look too bad on the sidelines to me and you never know how bad knee injuries are until after MRI Monday. Having to choose between the two I bet on Wallace having more potential long-term value.

Steelers get Oakland next week, makes Batch a great one week plug in if Big Ben is out.

Jay Cutler...it won't be long with Plummer playing the way he has and with them facing Steelers and Colts the next couple of games.

Batch is the better 1-week plugin, but Wallace is more likely to play for an extended period of time.

That said, I'd rather have 3rd-stringer David Greene than Wallace. :X

Where's this Chad Jackson love coming from? He had 1 catch.
:goodposting: I was thinking the exact same thing. I guess it depends on league size and rosters, etc. I guess the general thought is he has potential so he is worth rostering. I think he has the potential to be part of an unreliable WR rotation myself.

Can people just stop saying this in every single waiver wire thread every single week.We get the point that these guys are not available in your league. Too bad. Please contribute to the thread who should be picked up in leagues as competitive as yours.

I know he has not played much, but I would look to pick up Stokely this week for the stretch run. he is available in many leagues because of his injuries. He could be a valueable flex/wr3 down the stretch (especially in TD heavy leagues).

This should be the standard disclaimer at the top of every thread of this type.

TE Courtnry Anderson has respectfully put up 7pts 3 weeks in a row.

Worth a flier as a fill in, or if you have one of the several struggling TE's as your starter.

Seneca Wallace is downright horrible. He is very inaccurate, is often high with passes over the middle, and makes poor decisions with the football. If you need to pick up one or the other, go with Batch.

Jay Cutler...it won't be long with Plummer playing the way he has and with them facing Steelers and Colts the next couple of games.
Plummer will not see the bench until the Broncos are out of playoff contention. As Flav said, "Don't believe the hype!"

I refused to drop Lundy as I didn't think Gado or Dayne would hold the job. I heard Trent won't be playing for several weeks too.

Ruvell Martin depending on Jennings injury
 What kind of guppy league do you have? There is no way Ruvell Martin should be available, let me know if you have openings next season guy! K?
I detect a little bit of sarcasm. But I'm a little slow. In all seriousness, Ruvell was picked up last week in my league.
Yeah, the sarcasm smilie woulda helped, but clearly sarcasm
