Waiver wire QBs for next week (1 Viewer)

So, I looked at the WW in my league and I was amazed at the great match up options available for theQB position for next week. This is NOT a WDIS thread. Just wanted to know how would you look at these QBs (pros and cons) and how would rank them just for next week and even for rest of the year. Obviously none of these are great Qbs but they can certainly help many a team win next week with their potential scoring opportunity coming up.

Who do you like the most next week since there are so many great match up defined options for next week off the WW (in most leagues, not all) at qb?

David Garrard at home vs Ten (Pass weapons: Matt Jones, Reggie W, Ernest W, MJ Drew, Grighster)

Seneca Wallace at home on MNF vs Oak (Pass weapons: DJax, Branch, Burleson, Stevens etc)

JP Losman at home vs GB (Pass weapons: Evans, Parrish, Price, Mcgahee etc)

Brad Johnson on road vs San Fran (Pass weapons: Troy W, Travis Taylor, Wiggins, Moore, maybe MRob)

Damon Huard on road vs St Louis (Pass weapons: Kennison, Gonzo, Larry J)

Steve Mcnair at home vs Cincy (Pass weapons: Mason, Clayton, Heap, Musa Smith etc)

Tony Romo on road vs Wash which has bad secondary too (Pass weapons: TO, Glenn, Witten etc)

Gradkowski at home vs NO against who he had a solid 1st game (Pass weapons: Galloway, Alex Smith etc)

Thoughts? What would you target and why?

I am sure that there are lots of McNabb owners out there who are interested in this topic (myself included). I would add Brunell against Dallas as another option.

I thought so too but clearly no one wants to participate in a discussion. 30 views and no responses except yours yet :bag:

What is interesting about these Qbs is that all of them have shown flashes of doing well from a FF perspective (for eg Losman had a 300 yard game once this year) and yet they all have potential to absolutely stink it up. So, there is lots of risk vs reward but someone in every league is going to get it correct and be very hapy this weekend.

One other thing to consider - who will be starting next week? I wonder if some will be a game time decision (Leftwich).

McNabb owner in two leagues, I have Plummer and picked up S. Wallace last week. At this point, Wallace is a better FF start IMO than Plummer. So, gotta hitch my wagon for week 9 to Wallace. Sad, huh?

Has Hasselbeck been ruled out for next week?? If so, Wallace might be a great option home against Oakland on Monday night.

Assuming the forecast is not for bad weather, I think you have to like Losman at home vs Green Bay - the pass defense that has given up the most passing yards and most passing touchdowns.

I currently look at it that way too. Weather.com currently says "few snow showers", ~40F temp for Sunday

I was flipping back and forth between Losman and Brad Johnson to cover McNabb's bye week. I went with Johnson as the safer pick. He has a lower ceiling than Losman, but he won't stink it up as badly either.

Of course if BJohnson is terrible tonight, I will probably go back to Losman.

McNabb owner here....I have A Smith vs Minn. but I'm considering picking up Romo to go against Wash. Most of those on this list are already gonein my 12 team redraft. Loseman is available, so is McNair. He was dropped last week. Balt. offense is iffy, though. I'm leaning towards Romo, he looked good last night.

:goodposting: JP is the guy next week!!!!! GB made harrington look like Johnny Unitas.

I think there's a chance that Trent Green is back this week. I've seen him available in a few of my leagues.......he could be a VERY nice 2nd half option for teams thin at QB.

I have the same situation. I may just go with Smith. Losman is tempting though.

:loco: Why do people continue to think theyre gonna get a good game from their QB vs Oakland?

In one of my leagues I have Delhomme & Bledsoe, will look to ADD Romo, Carr, or Losman. Young & Roethlisberger are available as well but those are 2 tough match ups.

I have already put in my claim for Huard. The last 3 weeks for KC have been high scoring, and the rams are soft on D. I think it will be a shootout so that is who I went with. I tried Losman earlier in the year v. Detroit. Adequate. Huard looks like the guy until Nov 12th (Green comes back) from what I hear.

Trying to decide between Losman and Kitna at home vs. Atlanta. A few weeks ago I was definitely leaning towards Losman, but the Dirty Birds have given up plenty of points through the air recently. The weather might be the deciding factor, or if Abraham can't go for ATL.

Why all the love for Losman? I know Leinerts a rookie, but he looked terrible against the Packers. Losman's not exactly tearing it up. I like Romo vs the Redskins or A Smith vs the Vikings much better. (Especially after watching them tonight.)

If your thinking about Huard, better look at the passing Defenses he faces the next couple weeks, looks pretty rough!

The Forecast for Ford Field is 72 degrees and no wind ;)

I thought i'd see much more Romo love here. Washington's certainly been forgiving so far. but then again it is his first home game....hmmm....

Huard is only good for 1 more week for certain, but for a fill in for Delhomme or Mcnabb or a potentially gimpy Lefty, its worth it.Especially those looking to stay at the top of the league.

McNabb owner with A. Smith on my bench. So I'm looking for a qb.

I like Huard vs St. Loo - should be a shoot-out.

Losman scares me, bu tI have Lee Evans and am tempted.

McNair is a total wild card because Billick will be calling the plays and he ran Jamal Lewis into the dirt last week.

Yes Jamal will at least have another 25 carries against that Cincy run D. And hopefully this time is YPC will be more given how bad Cincy is against the run

:goodposting: I picked him up and have held him in my IR spot.I drafted Warner as my top QB & McNair as my #2 (I obviously waited very late in the draft to pick them up). I've been bouncing QB's around all year. Here are my starters and their results for the year:

NAME - TEAM - TOT PTS - STARTS - AVG PTS/START

Warner, Kurt ARI 20 2 10.0

Frye, Charlie CLE 15 1 15.0

Young, Vince TEN 15 1 15.0

Huard, Damon KCC 14 1 14.0

Plummer, Jake DEN 8 2 4.0

McNair, Steve BAL 5 1 5.0

This week JP Losman gets the nod this week. (I also have Romo and Huard on my roster)

The rest of my team is stacked, and our scoring doesn't favor QB's, so I am in 2nd place with the top point total and am facing the 1st place guy this week. First place, here I come. :football:

Thanks for the update!

This is coming down to a choice of 3 for me....Romo, Losman, or Alex Smith.

I am leaning towards Losman right now, the schedule just looks so sweet...but Romo showed me alot on Sunday Night - mainly that he will get the ball to TO, which should equate to fantasy points. It seems like there are a number of us in this position, and I would like to see the dialogue continue.

At least 3 of the Qbs mentioned in the 1st post by me will make a lot of owners happy this weekend.....but which 3? :banned:

McNabb owner, we have to carry two Qb's and Carr is my other.

Thinking of dropping him and picking up Damon Huard for a one week fill in.

So here is some updated info that will clear up the air some more

a) Garrard is officially the starter now and Pacman Jones will not play against Jax

b) Weather report says no snow in Buffalo and Charles Woodson is doubtful for the Pack

c) DJax is expected to play despite being questionable for Sea vs Oak

d) Brad Johnson will still be starter for Minny but Marcus Robinson is still questionable for this one

I like Romo and Losman the most right now after all of this info

Misleading stat, when other teams are up on the Raiders and no need to pass...only run. Makes your pass stats look awfully sweet.
The Raiders' pass defense is legitimately strong; maybe not best in the league, but definitely not an easy matchup. They are allowing just 6.1 yards per pass (tied for #9 overall), and despite being #32 in passes attempted against, are tied for #3 in INTs with 10.And here's another stat for you; the Raiders are also top-10 in yards per rush against (3.8), and are tied for #8 in rushing TDs against (4).I think some people who wrote off the Raiders are going to be surprised the rest of the way. When Brooks comes back, they could easily play .500 ball. In any case, don't count on them as an easy defensive matchup for either passing or rushing.
