Waiver Wire SS / FS (1 Viewer)

I'm looking to create some discussion on Safties. IN the past the SS has always been the desired Saftey position but in recent years the FS has just as many guys near the top as some of the SS in overall points. Give some waiver wire guys that could improve this year or the next.

Some names I am throwing in are

Abdullah, Hamza DEN S - Looks to have solidified his stating spot. Played decent the 2nd half of the year. Denver gave him a tendor. Could play the whole season there.

Butler, James NYG S - His tackele numbers in the playoff were quite impressive.

Some of my concerns about Butler'r long term future were alleviated by the 2nd round tender he got.Conversely, I think the 7th round tender to Abdullah raises some serious questions about how much the Broncos see him as being a long term alternative.

Eric Weddle looks to get more PT with the release of McCree today. Certainly looked good from time to time.

I agree with the guys mentioned so far. It sure seems the FS and SS are blurred in many more schemes now-a-days.

Clinton Hart gets a bump up in addition to Weddle. I saw a comment that Hart is likely to be FS and Weddle SS because Hart is better in coverage - I truly don't know the answer there.

McGowan in Chicago looks to have the SS spot currently. This depends on Mike Brown's return, but he could be cut due to his injury history. If Brown's not cut, grab him.

CIN has Ndukwe who played well last year, but they also have a higher draft pick Marvin White waiting in the background. Ndukwe is listed as SS and White as backup FS, but it sure seems the predraft info I read last year described White as hard hitting and best fit as SS.

ATL - I fully expect ATL to release Milloy and start Daren Stone at SS in 08.

JAX - Sensabaugh has been announced as starting SS.

TBB - Piscitelli was drafted to assume the SS spot for the Bucs, but he didn't win the job in camp and went IR early on. I look for him to come on strong in 08.

MIA - Jason Allen was a first rounder so should have talent. He moved from CB to safety late last year and performed well. Who knows how the new coaching staff will use him.

HOU - I've always thought the SS was a potential goldmine, but Demeco leaves little tackles for the others, plus who knows whats going on there.

What about Daniel Bullocks in Detroit? He might be the starting SS there.

per KFFL:

SS | Kenoy Kennedy | Free Agent Players | Transaction, Free Agency News

The Detroit Lions announced Friday, March 14, that the team released SS Kenoy Kennedy.

Too early to tell but I believe Dwight Smith is penciled in as the starting SS.

I really liked what I saw from Weddle when he got some playing time. I think with Antrel Rolle moving to safety beside Wilson he could be a nice pickup. I like both of these guys in the upcoming season so I nabbed them both. With the turnover in DB production we saw this year from the previous year, I've been inclined to just nab the hot hand from week to week.

CC Brown played better at SS than he did at FS. Demps was re-signed at looks to be the favorite at FS. Glenn Earl was also re-signed, but is probably the 3rd guy.
