Walter is expendable once Oakland signs Russell (if ever). I can't see the Raiders rostering 4 QB's, but this is Al Davis! The kid has a lot of talent and could succeed if given the right opportunity. He is not mobile and needs a much better line than Oakland had last year to succeed.Shefter on NFL Networked talked about him having connections in ATL or JAX (can't remember) and thought he would go there.

I was merely trying to confirm a rumor, if you know of a better place than here for me to do that please tell, it was posted on a message board by a dude in a league I am in who "claims" to know people within the jags organization, in the past he has been spot on, knowing Koetter's past with Walter in Arizona, it is significant if it is true,(Walter has the PAC 10's carrer record for TD's)http://www.jaguars.com/Team/Coach.aspx?id=2688, sorry to bother you with hearsay

It's more than a rumor. John Clayton was on ESPN just a few days ago confirming this very thing. When Byron Leftwich was released, he said that as odd as it may sound, more teams were interested in acquiring Andrew Walter than they were in bringing Leftwich aboard. Walter was considered the main priority for a "number of teams" including Jacksonville and Atlanta. As a reminder, the Jags new OC is Dirk Koetter; who was Walter's head coach at ASU when Walter was setting Pac-10 records.

If Russell signs, Walter is probably the roster spot that becomes available. As such, even a late late pick is worth the trouble for Oakland.

Hey JHuber,While the ESPN crew are certainly prone to making mistakes and/or jumping on stories that are sometimes proven inaccurate, they are far and away still the best in the business. Clayton and Mortensen, in particular, are plugged in in ways that none of us could hope for. So while I take what they say with a grain of salt, I also don't discount it, either.Regardless of whether you choose to think Walter is going to Jacksonville, that doesn't mean the Raiders haven't shopped him or that the Jags haven't expressed interest. And finally, regardless of what you think, we don't go around calling people idiots or making light of something that isn't just an unfounded rumor.

If I felt it WAS a credible source i would not have asked for confirmation, get it? With multiple drafts going on it is much easier for me to miss info(the espn idiots) than under normal circumstances, which is the reason i posted this in the first place. Once again, jhuber, sorry to bug you???

I am not saying its unfounded, all I was saying that it wasn't a credible source. It kind of reminded me of that scene in Ferris Buellers day off where Kristy Swanson heard from a friend of a friend's sister's cousin that Ferris Bueller passed out at 31 flavors. While I may be wrong in calling ESPN "idiots", I do go to them for alot of info since they basically have a stranglehold on all sports in America. Sorry if I offended anyone.

The original poster has the word "rumor" in the title. It's not like he said it was a done deal or a fact.
Sometimes posts like this turn into nothing, but at the very least it brings the possibility to our attention. As long as he stated it is a rumor, there is nothing wrong with it, in my opinion.

Agreed. There was no attempt to mislead. This is a rumor: take it or leave it.I happen to think that this rumor makes sense. First, the Koetter connection. Second, Jax clearly needs a QB 3 now. Oakland will not need one once Russell signs. Why not?I don't think this means much in terms of fantasy as the Jaguars third string QB is not very exciting to me, but Walter does have potential for the future. Guy needs to speed up his ability to read defenses and get rid of the ball and he is not very mobile. But he does have a good arm. I never saw so many dropped passes last year as I did watching Oakland games. It was a horrible offense that basically pounded the ball up the middle and then Long Bomb. There were hardly any shorter routes and usually no easy outlets to throw to.

If Oakland is in fact shopping Walter, I wonder if that means they are getting closer to signing Russel. Walter makes a very good #3 and possibly a #2 if given a good opportunity.
