Warner - Why the change (in rankings)? (1 Viewer)

Earlier this week Warner was a top QB on the cheatsheets. Now his one of the lowest. Why the drastic change?

ETA - I understand Boldin may be out, that drastic of a change?????

He was QB5, so now bottom 7? Eesh that's a big drop. It makes me wonder if Bryant Johnson is out also. Hmm.. time to go try and figure out what I don't know.

Boldin hasn't really played since Warner started playing, has he?
Boldin was huge the first game Warner came in. Week 3 vs BAL, Warner to Boldin: 139yds & 2TDs. That was the last time Boldin has played. Bryant Johnson is definitely a step down here, but not this much of one.

I wouldn't sweat it. The rankings are based on the projected points. Warner is projected at 15.8; McNabb, who is 5th in the rankings, is projected at 17.8. The difference is the equivalent of half a TD pass. Essentially, they dropped Warner's projection by half a TD, and he fell 15 spots in the rankings because so many players' projections are bunched together.

I for one am happy to be starting Warner. The Cards are playing well, particularly the offensive line, and Carolina is near the bottom of the league in sacks.

Missing Boldin shouldn't bump Warner down much at all IMO. Bryant Johnson's a capable #2....not a bad one either. To his point, Warner hasn't really missed a beat w/o Boldin. Doubtful he'd be downgraded because of that (if so, I'd 100% disagree with it).

My guess is the AZ D is just going to destroy whomever's at QB for Car and they'll end up grinding clock with Edge.

I believe Warner is an every week starter the way he's looked thus far this year.

I disagree. Johnson is not even close to Boldin talent-wise. No contest. Sure, Warner has been good without Boldin. But he would be better with him. I think it is perfectly valid to bump Warner down a notch if Boldin doesn't play.As others have pointed out, he hasn't dropped all that far in projected points. I think the difference between Johnson and Boldin warrants the 1/2 TD pass that Sid mentioned.

And Tarvarius Jackson at 14.2 (and he is the lowest ranked QB this week). So Warner is basically 1.5 points better than Jackson???

I understand that it's just a minor change in projected points that caused the fall in the rankings. But seriously, if that's the case then why look at them at all? Just post every week:

1. Brady

2. Palmer

3 Romo

4. Manning

5 Kitna

6-31 A bunch of guys in a mess

32. McNair.

Going from 5, a virtual "must start" to 20, a weak QB2 fill in is a pretty big fall. Especially when there wasn't really any new news. Boldin was already injured and no lock to play this week.

Basically, FBGs is saying if you don't have a top 5 QB you should just flip a coin, they are all the same.

This made me laugh.

I won't argue on talent. There's no question there. Boldin's an All-Pro. Johnson's not. Boldin or not, I don't think Car is capable of stopping Arizona. Johnson's a very capable #2 NFL WR. (Boldin/Fitz are both #1's....if that means anything) Nothing's shown me thus far Warner's not a weekly #1 QB (Top 12). To be frank, the only thing that could hold him down in the improvement in the AZ defense. And Edge will eat the clock.I don't really pay attention to rankings (so I'm not aware of the 1/2 td decrease). I'm going on based what I've seen from the Cards in the first 5 weeks with my eyes.--------------------------------And that's funny about McNair above. I wouldn't even rate him 32. I really think Billick just fears benching him. (maybe there's more to this whole bad back sleeping funny thing)
