I'm wondering what the upside was of a QB change, not seeing anything here that makes me believe this kid is going to be a future NFL starting QB, not sure he even looks like a competent back up

Ryan has a big guarantee if he gets injured. Owner doesn't want to pay it. That's why he will not play another down this year.
