weather in Cleveland on Sunday (1 Viewer)

My thinking is that the snow bumps up Lewis (I hope) but a thought popped into my head,- if there is no threat of a pass game, doesn't the defense sell out to stop the run and negate the extra chances a RB(lewis) has in the snow?

I'm hoping Lewis goes off, but I think alot of his success has been from teams stretched out becaue of he Browns downfield threats, if you take away those threats......

Any thoughts?

Sunday in Cleveland, now a high of 29. Forecast is snow/wind (22 mph), 90% chance of precipitation. This is fabulous news for all of us Anderson and Edwards owners :homer:
Sorry for my ignorance, 22 MPH winds, at what point does the ball go off target with wind MPH? Does 22 MPH make it really hard?
22 MPH winds will disturb the football. It is on the bottom edge, but it will effect the passes. When you get up into the 30+ is when you will really struggle to throw the ball. Anderson and most NFL QB's throw the ball with enough zip that passes within 10 yards shouldn't be affected. Going deep is where it gets extremely difficult.

I'll be there... This will hurt the Bills way more than Cleveland. Bump to Kellen Winslow.
how does this bump winslow?just askin?why do the browns get the advantage?
Here's the deal. Winslow is bigger than most WR's. Generally means that he will hve better footing. He runs shorter routes. If Visibility is an issue DA can still see Winslow over the middle but will have a tough time seeing Edwards on a deep route. If it's windy then a short pass to Winslow is less likely to be disrupted by the wind. We should also see a heavy dose of Jamal. Big, power backs are usually heavily utilized in the snow. Remember back in the day when Dallas would play in snow, it was lots of Moose Johnson, not so much Emmit. Moose had better traction and footing in the snow. Bump Winslow and Jamal. Downgrade Edwards. The only way Edwards does well is if the Browns change up their play calling and keep Edwards in close on short routes. I'm rolling with Winslow, Jamal, and Edwards.
Just a note on this, but I noticed a stat from the Football Outsiders saying that the Buffalo Bills are the best in the league at defending the TE position. So maybe Winslow isn't as great of a play as people would assume. On the other hand, the only two really good TEs they've gone up against this season are Witten and Cooley and they had 103 and 89 yards respectively. But the FO DVOA stats are supposed to take that stuff into account anyway. So it's something to think about.

I understand what Donte Whitner is saying to a point, but height is a certainly an advantage for the endzone corner "jump ball" pass.
i think the article is kinda funny, seeing as the Browns top three CBs at this point aren't any taller:Holly, Daven DB 5-10 185

McDonald, Brandon DB 5-10 184

Wright, Eric DB 5-10 195
Uhm, maybe because Evans and Reed are both 5-10?
sure, but the Browns have played taller teams, and i've never seen the size of our CBs brought up.i agree with Whitner, if the Browns recievers rip their secondary, i think it has a lot more to do with route running and their hands than with their height.
I'm thinking of Edwards TD catch vs the Jets as an example, although, I guess it could be argued that the cornerback was turned around, rather than Edwards being taller. I think it helped, though.
ok, i'm sure it doesn't hurt.i just thought it was kind of a silly article, when they could've been breaking down other aspects of the game is all.

course, i was reading it at 5am this morning, so maybe i'm not the best judge of stuff i read that early.
I've never heard of a corner (at least not many) that are over 6 feet
Bobby Taylor (PHI/SEA) was 6'4" I think, PHI drafted him with hopes that he would be the answer to the ever growing NFL WR. There are a few more around the league now, Anthony Henry of DAL is like 6'1", so are Al Harris and Charles Woodson. It's not common, but they are out there.

Call me crazy, but this is exactly what I expect to see. Braylon to go deep, regardless of the wind, a few times, but many more short passes for 5-10 yards a time, while hoping he can shake a tackle or 3.

Updated forecast Saturday morning for Sunday:

Snow with some blowing and drifting snow and near blizzard conditions possible in the afternoon. Snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches. Windy with temperatures falling into the mid 20s. Northeast winds 20 to 25 mph...becoming northwest 25 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Chance of snow near 100 percent.

Call me crazy, but this CAN NOT be good for ANY offensive player, can it?

Anyone disagree?

I think I have to bench Winslow for Roddy White or Calvin Johnson. First time I've benched him all year.

Winslow is good for 12 catches this week. Guaranteed.
 In all seriousness, I do think the bad weather does give him a chance to bust out of his two-game slump. The intermediate routes should be there for him and if there's a heavy emphasis on those routes I think he has a shot to have a nice game and maybe a big one in PPR leagues.

i affraid to play b edwards this week....considering playing galloway instead...the weather has to hurt his numbers..

How's this play out for Cleveland's defense??I have to choose between Cleveland Def. and Jacksoville defense vs Steelers. The weather in Cleveland favor thre defense???
I was wondering the same thing, I have GB playing in the dome w/Bulger back and TEN D @ KC where weather looks ok and am considering picking up CLE off waivers, any opinions?

What if any effect will this have on Braylon? Is there wind too?
I think you have to have a real stud to put in if you are thinking about benching Braylon. This guy catches short, medium and long passes. He also is a redzone target. Not sure of the numbers but I would say at least 1/2 of his TDs come from 10 yards or closer. Temper your expectations, sure, but to bench for someone like Galloway - I wouldn't.

The weather helps receivers sometimes too. Edwards can catch a stop and go, as the DB's are slipping to the turf trying to turn back around.

I seriously cannot pick between Winslow & Evans. On one hand it makes sense to me that the weather could affect the long passing game (and therefore hurt Evans), but then reading that the Bills D clamps down on TE's makes me completely confused.

Both teams can run well but the Bills D should probably be able to contain Lewis better than the Browns can contain Lynch/Jackson. So, I think that's putting me in a position where I lean towards Winslow.

But man this is one of the toughest decisions I've been faced with all season. This is a really, really tough call...

Braylon/Winslow have carried me all season. There's no way I'm benching either of them.

If they have a bad game, I can live with that. If they blow up on my bench, I'll be searching for an ice pick.

Braylon Edwards-WR- Browns Dec. 15 - 6:04 pm et

Snow began to fall in Cleveland early Saturday.

Weather remains a big concern at five locations Sunday: Cleveland, New England, New York, Pittsburgh, and Miami. All of them are expected to see some precipitation and winds, with the Giants-Redskins having a chance to come after the storm because it's the Sunday night game.

Of Edwards 13 TD's only 3 have been from under 10 yards! If Fitzgerald is playing he will most likely be in my lineup instead of Edwards, already went with Andre Johnson on Thursday.

I am in Detroit and ventured out for a bit. We have near blizzard conditions here. I assume it is similar or worse in Cleveland and some of the other cities in this storm system.

I can't imagine how hard it will be to throw the ball in this mess.

I sure have some major tough decisions today, and so do many of you. Best of luck. We will all need it.

I too feel like I need a bit of luck weather wise this week. The forecasts seem a smidge better than I expected when I checked this morning but all in all, I'm pretty thankful for some domes and southern games this week

Let's put it this way, I went to bed last night with a few inches on the ground and it was snowing lightly. Woke up this morning and I could see some grass. Seems as though it warmed up during the night and rained a little bit. Looks more icey now than anything. I'm about 15-20 miles east of Cleveland.Didnt this system come from the southwest? If so, maybe the blizzards are not coming this way? I'll have to check another weather report...

The weather looks like it may have made a bit of a change. It looks like all rain in Cleveland right now, by game time, it will be snow. The storm, IMO from looking at the radar and I'm not a professional, looks like it could just about be over. According to weather.com though, it is supposed to start and continue through the game, and then turn into blizzard type conditions.

This falls into line with what I've been hearing for a few days. The Sunday snow during the day was supposed to be lake effect snow, which is what it sounds like you're saying. The snow storm Saturday into Sunday didn't really happen. My driveway, deck, etc are slush right now.

The concern is not the snow at all, it is the wind. I live about an hour south of Cleveland, and it is blowing hard here. The field should be fine. Definately dont start a kicker in this game, as they wont get many opprtunities. As far as QB and WR, well that depends on your options.
