***Week 1 Game Thread - Wash at NYG*** (2 Viewers)

God Campbell looks horrible.
The whole offense looks horrible.
Sorry, but this was a bit predictable, wasn't it?They haven't clicked in the preseason much, they are in hostile territory on a pumped-up night (SB celebration night), and Zorn hasn't faced this kind of situation as a HC before. The scenario so far has played out as I thought it would - although it is a bit worse than expected.I don't think the Redskins are this bad, nor are the Giants this good. Brandon Jacobs though looks like a force - if he can condition himself better.

:sarcasm: My opponent has the Giant's D and with Campbell sucking major ### right now it probably means the Giant's are going to pitch a shutout.

Pretty much. Those last two preseason games were flat out ugly. Still, they always figured to be better later in the season than they'd be to start off. I was just hoping it wouldn't be this bad.

Let's see if they improve over the course of this game.

i guess the redskins want to make sure nobody has to miss john mccain's speech to watch the end of this game. doesn't look like there's going to be any drama in this one.

I tell you what, I'm all up on the Eli Manning bandwagon. He looks confident. That throw he made on the first drive where he forced it into Burress between two defenders is the kind of pass I don't think he'd attempt last year.

i guess the redskins want to make sure nobody has to miss part of john mccain's speech to watch the end of this game. doesn't look like there's going to be any drama in this one. i hope there is, but i'm not optimisitic.

The Giants false started out of a tremendous fear that the defense would only allow them to score 1 TD on that play. It would make any OL nervous.

Before you write off this game (and odds are the Giants still win handily), Eli isn't looking deadly accurate. He's throwing some ducks and one INT could turn the tide.

Still - Giants should win this one. The Redskins would need a big return just to set up Portis for a possible score.

Dear Mr. Blache,

Please instruct your defense to stop the Giants before they get inside the 10 yard line. Four out of five football watchers agree that that makes more sense.

Love,

Tatum

Jacobs has impressed tonight, but Im glad I dont have him on any of my teams

Same thing they did last year with splitting carries. Ward and Bradshaw will be getting too many carries for Jacobs to get to Top 10 status despite the skill being there

I still dont know why they pull him out sometimes on short yardage and GL sometimes

......an of course im playing the guy that has Burress and London Fletcher....@*^$^!(!#^*&%

Agreed, but the 'Skins need a big play on offense or defense to shake themselves awake. A INT in the end zone would have been just what the doctor ordered, but Smoot couldn't catch it in his flippers.

This years Skins play calling looks just like last years so far. Open up the field for crying out loud and take a shot. NYG are daring Wash to do something deeper than 15 yds with all the guys up in the box.

So is it time to overreact and say the "Giants Look unstoppable / Washington looks horrid" yet?
I'm close to jumpin on the Washington looks Horrid bandwagon.
They are not this bad they are just running into a buzz saw tonight. If they can hang in there and get a score before half all this emotion will be gone for G-men. They are just playing off emotion right now believe it. Giants are better but not this much better.

When you're not protecting him, and when his receivers are covered on the short routes (which were what was called obviously to instill confidence/tempo in Campbell) then what do you do?

Eli isn't looking deadly inaccurate. I do not agree with your "ducks" comment. We must be watching different games.

I think the protection has been more than adequate. Campbell is creating his own trouble thus far.

Not sure why anyone would draft Jacobs as an RB1, so not being in the top ten probably won't be disappointing any rational people.

Run the ball with the excellent RB you have. Throw those "Charlie Weis special" instant passes down the LOS. Watch how they react to it and take it from there.

He's thrown several 15-foot high fades to guys not open yet. That's an invite for a pick.

I think you're overestimating how open his receivers are. Now, he shouldn't hesitate and hold the ball like he has, but his first options are consistently blanketed. I'd like to see some adjustments. For example, Moss often eats the Giants alive, and they need to take a shot deep to him. But they need to call something other than routes near the LOS because those aren't working.

Agreed. Healthy dose of Portis and some PA/shots down field. NYG have no respect for Cambell or the WRs right now.

Ummm, thats exactly what I'm saying.

I am revising my forecast of the skins from horrid to pathetic. Yes it was predictable.
