Week 1 Mike Sims-Walker (1 Viewer)

I'm on the fence with him due to this. I typically don't worry about CB's but Denver (from what I understand) is one team that puts Bailey on the opposing teams #1 WR. Anyone else benching him or considering it because of this?

If the game was in Denver, then sit MSW because Garrard is terrible on the road. Butsince it's in Jax and Bailey is a year older, roll with MSW. This will likely be the year when Bailey's game begins to decline, especially without Elvis rushing the passer.

I'm going with Knox over MSW, because the Detroit secondary isn't as tough as Champ, the Martz system passes a ton and I think the game will be a shoot-out.

Unless they've changed the way they do things, Bailey plays on the offenses right side, he doesn't follow the #1 around like Revis. The Broncos had a very good pass defense last year, in part because teams ran so much because the run defense sucked so bad, so I don't think hes a good play, but you could probably do worse.

My opinion from watching a lot of Bronco games is that Champ doesn't fall into this type of bench-my-players category anymore. He's still very effective, and I think he's still the top tackling corner in the game. But receivers will get their looks, and this defense has too many holes to shut anyone down.

was glad to see this thread and the responses within....I had thought Bailey did the Revis thing and blanket best WR. I do know from last year that the passing game is a start at home and a sit on the road.

But still have this gut feeling that MSW isn't a good start this week....and I may be a homer, but I see my bench WR Mike Wallace catching a bomb this week so I may go with him?

As with any other lineup decision it always depends on who your other options are. I have a choice between MSW and another slightly lower rated WR this week. I am still roling with MSW. Champ Bailey doesn't scare me that much.

my rule of thumb generally is to play week one the players you drafted first. Probably will hold true in this case

Sit MSW, but not because of Champ. Neither team is very good, I think this game has 17-14 written all over it, not a lot of fantasy points to go around.

I think Wallace will be the better WR over the course of the year, so I would definitely start Wallace this week over MSW.

I think it may be the exact opposite. The Broncos still can't stop the run so the Jags should be able to get tons of yards on the ground, and the Broncos O looked very good in the preseason and the Jags secondary is pretty terrible. I could see a 35-31 game with Jacksonville running all over the place and the Broncos passing all over the place.... Still probably won't work out well for MSW though.

Would you be happy with 6 for 64 and 1 TD? That's about what I've seen projected. I'd be OK with that.

Has Garrard been terrible on the road his whole career? I know he was last year, but if it was more than a one year thing I am going to get rid of Sims-Walker if I can.

Not that it's spectacular, but he went 3/49 and a TD against Revis last season. Garrard likes Sims-Walker in the red zone, so I have no issues playing him this week.

IMO, Revis and Asomugha are the only CB's worth benching a WR for. Nobody else is even close to their talent level at this time.
I think Bailey is close to their talent level, but he doesn't follow the #1 WR around (which Asomugha now does) and with the terrible run defense of the Broncos he is forced to help out in the run game way too much. If the Broncos had the front seven of the Jets, he would look MUCH better.

The Jets didnt stick Revis on MSW until the 2nd half of that game last year. After walker had already scored

What??? Maybe 4 years ago but 2010...Champ doesn't effect any of my decisions. None.

Maybe it's that coupled with the fact I would be playing him over Knox. Knox is more of a wait and see guy to me but I was under the impression all along that Bailey was still very good and that he followed the opposing teams #1 WR. I like MSW's talent though and think even with Garrard he can luck into a 5-60 and a possible score kind if game but wasn't sure if Bailey would be on him all game or not.

I'm off Simms-Walker this week.Still playing the Bailey factor; however, as I just picked up Thomas and am rolling with him!! 16 man dynasty league ........

Now where does MSW typically line up?

I don't understand this. If Bailey doesn't cover the number one wr all over the field, why would you sit the Jax wr1 for the Jax wr2? Or am I missing something?

I can't decide

Its between MSW or Knox for me. My opponent is playing Cutler so I am leaning towards Knox as a type of insurance plan. The Bears are facing the Lions who were among the worst in the league defensively. DEN finished 3rd overall in pass defense.

right now, Im leaning Knox

We're in the same boat! I'm only running with MSW (right now) since he's the definite #1 and I don't know who that guy is in Chicago right now.

Looks like I'm the third person here with this precise decision. I've gone back and forth. One thing that has me leaning toward Sims-Walker are his splits from last year. Something like 6 of his 8 home starts were solid--at least double digits in my scoring system. He fared much worse on the road (Garrard's splits were equally lopsided of course). Tough call.

I was going with Knox, but switched to MSW. Chicago is more of a question mark and when healthy, MSW was great last year.

FWIW- I chose Owens vs. NE over MSW. I think MSW might find the endzone this week but I don't expect Jax to have too many scoring opportunities so I'm taking the safe pick with Owens.

You guys have me thinking twice now. I originally was rolling with MSW all week but switched it to Knox last night.

I was a MSW owner last year and the dude was money at home.

And he is #1 WR for sure

Ive been reading Knox is #1 but nothing concrete. I am just going off of DET's terrible secondary. Their SS, Delmas, is listed as Questionable so thats why I was leaning knox last night

they released a report that said WR Jarrett was injured, right? IF MJD has any issues, JAX will have to throw and really only one WR will get targeted - MSW

right?

that = good chances of good Fantasy Numbers IMO

Alright, you guys convinced me to go back to MSW. Knox is just too big of a question mark at this point. Even though he has a juicy matchup, just too many questions surrounding CHI offense.

So I started him in two leagues. :loco:

One league I'd lose even if he went for 100 yds and a score....the other league I should win anyway, but its closer than it should be going into Monday night.

I'm not sure what to do in the league I'm losing as I was counting on him to be a WR2/3 with Johnny Knox. Dez Bryant may get some starts earlier than I anticipated.

Totally over-rated...a small string of solid games last season. He was probably the most over-drafted player in fantasy this season. Never understood the love for this season.
