*** Week 1 Waiver Pickups *** (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I have waivers run Wednesday morning at 5:30am. So I have to get a jump start on this. I am sure most of you all are similar. I know I'll forget some here so please help out and post your thoughts as well.

Let me know if I can do anything else for you.

QB - Max Hall, Jimmy Clausen, Michael Vick, David Carr - in that order

RB - Peyton Hillis, Brandon Jackson, Toby Gerhart (due to AP's workload?) - in that order

WR - Santana Moss (?? not owned in shallow leagues), Aromashodu, "Skinny" Mike Wiliams (SEA), Austin Collie, Mark Clayton, in that order

What do you have? pick apart my ranking above as well, I am totally open to change.

ETA - Austin Collie

before anyone starts flaming me, Collie is available on my waiver wire because our league only allows 4 bench spots. he looks like a good pickup here.

He should have been on my list. I was reading this morning in another thread and someone was asking if he was forgotten too quick due to Garcon... It's a legit question. Of course Manning threw for over 400 yards.
Give me Albert Young over Gerhart behind AP. All the other RB/WRs are owned in most 12+ team leagues.
You think Young has more talent than Gerhart? I I am only suggesting this pickup since AP hasn't been hurt bad in a while and runs so hard he seems kind of due... So if it happened after week 12 or 13 you think Young would get the most benefit?

Brandon Jackson is the only other RB on Greenbay roster it says on twitter...

espn_nfcnblog Jackson is only other tailback on roster. Imagine some move is coming.
What's the name of the guy on practice squad who everyone was high on before his injury? Is he a candidate?

Jackson has to be the #1 pickup in all leagues. Grant could miss significant time. Who doesn't want a starting RB in a high powered offense?

not saying these guys are on everyone's WW.

QB:

Some injuries have opened some doors, and while there aren't huge opportunities here, Stafford and Kolb owners might be looking

Anderson: Seemed to do ok against a pretty bad defense but he won't be facing that many great defenses. Had a good rapport with Breaston indicating he is able to take what teams give him. I'd be interested to hear thoughts

Hasselbeck: Nothing really new here except emergence of BMW and lack of run game. Solid but unspectacular

Josh Freeman: I've always liked this kid for some reason, and I think a 2-td game coming off a broken thumb, which he said affected him. This thumb will get better and the rust from missing camp will wear off. Freeman could be best WW QB of this bunch. Also really liked that he called himself out for missing MW for another TD.

Vick: Can't argue with his performance. Also can't argue with Kolb's. Only question is how committed is Reid et al to Kolb, and if he can't go against the Lions and Vick performs well again, does that committment start to waiver?

Delhomme: if you are desperate

WR: Deepest group by far so I will stick to those most likely to be on WW

Breaston: There's a chance he's out there given how down people were on AZ passing coming into season. Obvious grab if so.

Mike Thomas: Will continue to see coverage as the no. 2 and should have plenty of good WR3 games. Wr2 upside.

Mark Clayton: Rams #1, probably was scooped when traded but if not pick up for lesser WRs

Eddie Royal: Good stash in shallow leagues to see if this week was a fluke. Given that the coaching staff has been talking about getting him more involved it probably wasn't.

Nate Washington: Always forgotten, always produces. No one else in TEN will step up.

Jordan Shipley: When TO came in a trade most thought that was it for Shipley. Not so. Welker-lite here.

Spurlock: I loved this kid at Ole Miss and he has tremendous speed. I didn't expect him to do much this year but this is a young team with little to lose.

RB:

Peyton Hillis: Seemed to split carries evenly with Harrison. Longshot but he could end up as a valuable GLV.

Brandon Jackson: Grant's sprain is being called serious and he is already listed as doubtful for week one. Don't see BJ as a full-time replacement though, where Hillis could be.

TE: Did not notice any big breakouts at this position. Hernandez could get more points going forward.

LB:

Dan Connor: Moved to MLB in Carolina and notched 9 solos and 3 assists.

Chad Greenway: Loaded up on solos against NO

DB:

Patrick Chung: 12 solos. Run don't walk.

I have the following claims out there (our waiver wire is determined by standings, so there really isn't a reason to wait)...

1. Add Brandon Jackson Drop Kareem Huggins

2. Add Mark Clayton Drop Devin Hester

3. Add Mike Thomas Drop Devin Hester (just in case)

I think I'll be lucky to get one of the wide receivers, and I probably won't get Jackson, because I have the most points in our league.

great calls.

If anyone needs a TE...

Cooley could be available in 10 team leagues and had some good chemistry with McNabb (6 for 80)

Jermaine Gresham had something like 6/60/1TD

Mercedes Lewis had only two catches... but both were TDs.

In DEEP leagues Evan Moore (CLE) had some big plays, but technically is #3 TE
