Week 15 Sleepers (1 Viewer)

In most leagues I play in, Week 15 and 16 are the main playoff leagues. In one of my main money leagues, we start in Week 14, but I'm fortunate enough to pull off a great winning streak over the last few weeks to secure a bye this week.

That said, I'm skipping ahead one week to look at great sleepers now before this week starts. This will enable me to get a jump on a great spot starter that could mean all the difference in the world over these next few weeks.

Looking at schedules, I see the following teams with some great Wk 15 and 16 matchups:

TB -- ATL, SF

Fantastic playoff schedule looms, and everyone who grabbed TB's D for this run, as suggested in a recent sleeper D thread, should be rewarded. On the offensive side of the ball, Ike Hilliard and Alex Smith might be some great spot starts if your other options are up against some tougher Ds.

CIN -- SF, CLE

Great matchups here, but doubtful that most leagues have guys like Chris Henry or Kenny Watson on the wire.

ARI -- NO, ATL

Bryant Johnson was probably snagged in the last week in your leagues, but if Boldin and Fitz continue to be limited by injuries, Sean Morey and Steve Breaston suddenly become intriguing pickups. Leonard Pope should be looked at closely if you have a second-tier TE with a tough matchup

GB -- STL, CHI

Driver, Jennings and Jones should all be rostered, as should Donald Lee. Not sure I see Koren Robinson as a worthy pickup at this point, even in leagues that reward for kick return yardage.

IND -- OAK, HOU

Oakland actually has an aggressive secondary, and Houston has shown they can play up to an opponent, but both these teams struggle mightily to get pressure on the QB, and for a guy like Mannning, the time he has in the pocket spells big trouble for these Ds. With Harrison out, Anthony Gonzalez becomes attractive. Even Kenton Keith might be valuable if IND decides to limit Addai's snaps leading into the NFL playoffs.

CLE -- BUF, CIN

Jurevicius might still be available in some leagues, and he's been fairly consistent and could be a great flex start against a BUF D that is ranked 29th overall against the pass and has looked very shaky at times (esp recently vs NE and JAX), and a CIN D that ranks 26th and surrenders boatloads of TDs.

SF -- CIN, TB

Arnaz Battle has really been steady lately, and in Week 15 against Cincy, Darrell Jackson and Ashley Lelie might be sneaky, if not fairly risky, plays. Vernon Davis is likely rostered, but I would start him without hesitation over this stretch if for some reason he is available on your wire.

TEN -- KC, NYJ

Justin Gage may have the a downside risk that he's inconsistent, but playing against a KC team that is middle of the road, and a lower-tiered NYJ team that have trouble getting to the quarterback. Bo Scaife, Roydell Williams and Eric Moulds might also be intriguing in deeper leagues or those that start 3 WRs, if your other options are shaky thanks to matchups.

TOP PICKS

Battle, Gage, and Jurevicius look to be guys I would seriously consider taking a gamble on, with Hilliard and Gonzalez in next tier of viable FF playoff sleepers.

Thoughts, additions, ctitiques? Let's hear whatcha got.

Cinci D has an especially good matchup week 15 (@SF). Then, you can couple them with either Detroit (KC) or Arizona (ATL) who have excellent home matchups in week 16.

Good post with some good analysis....

Not for nothing but do you really want to be taking chances with any of these guys in your league semi-finals?

Unless an injury occurs to someone on your team this weekend, I'd rather just stick with what got me to the semis in the first place.

There always is someone in one of my leagues that "thinks themselves" out of the playoffs every year.

Like I said...good post but unless one of my guys gets injured this week I wouldn't mess with the mojo....

That's all well and good for YOUR situation, but I don't think Tom is talking about over-thinking it.Regardless, the fact is many on here will either 1) need to pick someone up due to injury or weakness at the position and/or, 2) want to block a competitor that needs the position.

Ummmm....didn't I say that "Unless an injury occurs......"?I did give him props but just don't see that if your team is good enough to make it into the semis how you'd have a warm fuzzy picking up someone off the scrap-heap and playing him in the playoffs.

Just lost both Boldin and Roy Boy this past weekend.

I'm stuck picking up Furrey and Gage...........gulp.

Shine Gage, Shine.

Any QB sleepers?
Kellen Clemens this week...MAYBE Boller. Assuming he comes back from injury, Garcia has a soft schedule from here on out.
Im worried that Clemens is going to be throwing to Brad Smith and Wallace Wright... Coles might be a GTD again this week, and Cotchery's out. I actually think Redman is the best sleeper at QB this week as long as he starts - remember he was the guy that brought Petrino's offense to life during his first one year stint at UL:
In 1998, under the guidance of Petrino and new Louisville head coach John L. Smith, Redman started 10 of 11 regular-season games as a junior and established Conference USA and UofL season records for attempts (473), completions (309), yards (4,042) and touchdowns (29) despite missing a game because of a knee injury. His 404.2 yards-per-game average was the fifth highest in I-A history. On Nov. 14, 1998, Redman torched East Carolina by completing 44 of 56 passes (with six touchdown passes) for 592 yards -- the 10th-best single-game yardage total of all time. The Cardinals had a huge turnaround from the season before, going 7-4 in the regular season and participating in a bowl game for the first time since 1993.
The Falcons threw 58 passes last week, and the Saints secondary gives up big plays with regularity. Rosenfels would probably be my second choice, but Tampa is a stifling D. Next week Redman would get TB, so we'll see....

I grabbed BAL for week 15 vs MIA. I'm considering ARI for week 16 vs ATL.At QB, I've got Bulger and Schaub. With Bulger one hit away, would you grab Grossman, Clemens, Redman, Rosenfels or Jackson as a back up and dump Schaub?I'm off this week, so I don't need a QB this week.

I was about to come in here and post exactly this. I picked up T Jackson myself, but gave Redman serious consideration. Went Jackson since I KNOW he'll start throughout if healthy (our rosters lock at gametime tonite), whereas who knows what Petrino will do, we might see Leftwich by halftime for all I know.
