Week 15 Venting Thread (1 Viewer)

Swapped out K. Bell from Chicago for J Kuhn at the last possible moment this morning. In my PPR league that's a 30 point difference, and I'm currently down 56 pts with Rice and Antonio Brown to go. GRRRRRRRRR.

Did the Raiders even try to defend Megatron? How do your gee up 75 yards to him on the final drive, with the game on the line?

My venting is how, now that I'm out in my two leagues, players do what I needed of them in previous weeks. Most glaring is Eli Manning, the guy who single-handedly cost me the playoffs last year as my QB with all the turds he laid. Then this year he comes back to haunt me by playing well. Last week, all I needed him to do was not score a TD in one of the final two drives so Dallas wouldn't have to throw again. He screwed me and I lost by 3 points. A few weeks earlier against NO, I was up by 20 points heading into the 4Q with my opponent having Eli Monday night against NO. Eli throws 70+ yard TD to Cruz on first play, has big quarter and I lose by 2. Now the old Eli shows up. I would have won in the first round of the playoffs if I had not picked wrong in the two spots I had a decision, Celek over Olsen and Pierre Thomas over Ryan Grant. But this week the same two decisions would have won me the game.

Traded Reggie Bush and Santonio Holmes for Run DMC exactly one month ago at my league's trade deadline. Would have made it to my league's title game had I not made the deadline deal but NOBODY was second-guessing Hue Jackson at that point despite Run DMC's suspicious Twitter silence.

I will never draft or trade for another Raider. May that organization go down in flames. So happy they lost today.

Beat reporters need to stop taking coachspeak at face value especially when it is in their best interests to LIE.

Speaking of which, my other semi-final opponent started Reggie Bush against me today. Good times!

In 3 leagues this year. Either had a 1st round bye or won the WC game last week between the 3 leagues.

Gonna go 0-3 this week.

Need a miracle monster game from VJax and Mathews in 1 league. Need Antonio Brown and Novak to outscore Crabtree and Vernon by 10 in another. Need 59 points from Ray Rice in my 3rd league.

Man, that is THE story of my entire year...plus running into everyone's career game and quirly stuff. Maddening.

MY Vent:

Realizing that I'd have better luck playing the lottery then trying to guess which people show up on any given Sunday during the playoffs.

Welker: Great day there son

Helu: Nice of you to have your worst game in 4 weeks against the 22nd ranked Run Defense

Kasay: thanks for missing that 50 yard field goal.

CJ0K. I know it's not all your fault. You play for a crappy team that only run blocks well when the moon is full. Oh the irony of the Head Coach being a O line man and he cannot get them to block well. Run game is a priority my ###. I guess you think you're the best back in the league when the moons line up and every situation is perfect.

Bowe: ANOTHER garbage game against the 31st ranked pass D. Palko was kinder to your stats.

The thing that makes me frustrated is that if I started Donald Brown and Greg Little, things would be much better

Had Vick (73 pass to Celek to the 1 then McCoy TD), played against McCoy

Had Welker (20 yard TD reversed down at the 1)

Had Nicks (TD caled back on penalty)

Played against Romo (TD run) and Austin (TD catch announcer even said he was down at the 1)

TD heavy league

So instead of winning losing by 30

I just had my worst combined fantasy/real football day ever...

My dynasty team: 13-1, 13 game winning streak, 1st week of playoffs, 1st seed

Lost big

My keeper team league: 10-4, 7 game winning streak, 1st week of playoffs, 1st seed

Losing big (need 25 more points from rice to win--not likely)

Broncos: 6 game winning streak, biggest game of season to date

Lost big

so, my 3 important teams had won a combined 26 straight games... Yes, 26-0 in their last 26 games.

And in 1 bad terrible awful week, in by far the biggest respective games of the season for each, they go a combined 0-3. Sucky. :ptts:

I'm gonna vent for the loser of the other playoff game going up against this:

Brees

Lynch

Brown

Marshall

Nicks

Graham

Wells

Kasay

Seahawks D

I'm playing against that next week. :boxing:

Christ, I thought I was the only one having this week.Main league - 11-3 regular season, total points champion, got busted in the chops this week even though I scored big (opponent had an even bigger day with Roddy White and Drew Brees). What hurts here is that I've been in this league 23 years, made the playoffs 17(!) times, and my first round playoff numbers are staggeringly bad - I'm a spectacular 4-13 this week. Gah. :bag: Second league - 12-2 regular season, top seed, and lost big (F you, Eli).Third league - 10-4, total points champion, at least in this league I've got a shot.Remind me why I play this game?

The bad news is I lost in the semifinals, thus ending my season. The good news is that I don't have to follow CJ2K anymore, and his 13 for 25 yard statline every week. I never should've drafted this terd.

Ken Whisenhunt. When you get the ball on the 4 yd line via a gift fumble, why do you not try to run it with your goalline back at least once? Sigh

Gates w/ 3 pts, Hernandez on my bench with 19. Peterson w/ 6, Matthews on my bench with 22. Lost by 2. Damn I hate fantasy playoffs.

or you could at least not play in 10 leagues

Perfect end to a perfect year. League average is 81 ppg. This year I averaged 96 ppg and scored over 100 7 times (including today). Unfortunately once again I run into a higher scoring team and finish at 8-7. 7 losses....3 of those when I scored over 100; funny thing is the team that beat me was the 8 seed so he has earned his way into the title game. No cash for me - not even bragging rights...even worse I get one of the bottom 4 picks next year.

Percy Harvin and Mike Williams. How is that even possible when their teams were trailing by so much?

And there were a lot of TE duds this week too, with Gronk, Gates, and Tony G leading the way in futility.

Anyone else vent in this thread prematurely that may still pull out a win?

Somehow I can actually win my way into the Super Bowl if Wallace goes off for 15.2 points in the Monday nighter (non-PPR).

I'm not holding my breath but considering I was getting blown out at one point this is unexpectedly doable.

Oh also allow me to vent about a few stupid trades/decisions this season:

- Trading Reggie Bush for Manningham and then flipped him and Laurent Robinson (before he played a game) for Smith one game after Reggie blew up

- Trading Hernandez and Marshall for Fitzgerald 3 or 4 weeks ago

- DRAFTING HERNANDEZ IN THE 10TH WHILE GRONKOWSKI WENT IN THE 13TH :hot: :hot: :hot: :hot: :hot:

:hot: :hot: ravens D, boldin(never drafting you again), gronk. Mostly ravens D who cost me negative points. I am down 28 with big ben left to go. if they had played just halfway decent I would probably be down only 15 pts or so and could still pull off the win. Now, I have to hope hurt ben has his third best game of the year against a top def. Thanks ravens

Lost 156-152

Opponent had R White and Hernandez go off for their biggest weeks. If either only matches their previous high for the year I win. Even still all I had to do was win one of my two lineup coin flips - Spiller vs Lloyd and SEA Def vs TEN Def. Chose wrong on both.

My 9 bench players (vs 10 starters):

Fitzpatrick - 21

Spiller - 37

Tolbert - 13

Little - 24

Nelson - 12

Wayne - 12

Gresham - 4

SEA Def - 26

NE Def - 10

159 pts

Don't have it all out of my system....so I benched Hernandez and started Damian Williams despite the fact that Williams has done nothing the last few weeks - my reasoning....mu opponent had Brady so I didn't want to cancel out the points....but the real killer was I got beat by Reggie Bush and his damn 76 yard td run. Reggie Bush was the last peron I was worried about - thought he was done with a decent day and then I check the scores to see he is over 200 yards with a76 yard td......and Rice didn't get in the end zone even once?!?!? Argh...but now it is only 9 months until the perfect draft - surely I'll have it NEXT year.

That is the WORST kind of beat down in FF playoffs when you are watching your "potential" guy you didn't start catch pass after pass from your opponent's QB and you're sitting there thinking "WHY didn't I start him? I could be eating up his QB points!"

i dont pity ANYONE who uses the cancel out theory. THIS is exactly why you start your player that you think will score more points!!!dominated all year and now its over because studs didnt show up and the other guys garbage went off...

Peterson, Chris Johnson, Gates, Bowe.... Ugh. Major duds yesterday, and even more annoying is Gerhart getting a couple of rec TDs... Why doesn't AP get receptions????

Trailing by 29 points going into tonight with Akers and Antonio Brown... I need to pray to the fantasy gods that I can somehow put up 30 points tonight

That garbage TD by Torrey Smith last night might be enough to prevent me from making it to the championship game. My opponent still has Alex Smith so I need a huge night from the Steelers Defense.

I'll vent for one of guys in my league that had ADP and Gerhart. Decided on starting ADP and benched Gerhart, while playing MoMo, figuring he'd get his share of that weak Oakland rush defense. Well MoMo got him a zero, and Gerhart would have gotten him 20+ pts, and the win. That's a crappy way to lose, by your own handcuff.

Worse thing is I knew better, but still got cute with the last minute lineup change away from Hernandez so I only have myself to blame. Really, in retrospect - just about EVERY time I try to get cute with my lineup I pay for it. One of these years I will learn - next year will be year 20....maybe that is the year I learn.

I did the same thing. Benched Hernandez for Benson. Got cute as you say. I just had to play K. Smith somehow. Started Gronk and benched Hernandez, ugh! But I still can win depending on Crabtree. But it sucks to see if you had just left well enough alone instead of doing a nervous nelly last minute switch, you'd have the game won already and wouldn't have to even watch MNF. If I survive, no more cutesy lineup changes. I swear.

I don't get this? "Started Gronk and benched Hernandez, ugh!", who wouldn't have done that.

So frustrated after Monday night game I feel like quitting Fantasy Football after 21 years in same league. Here is what happened to me in the first round of the playoffs: I lose my game by 1 point. Had to choose between Romo and Stafford at QB. Went with Romo because of better match up. He basically plays half a game due to being up so much, Staffor throws TD with 30 seconds left to score 7 pts. more than Romo. In my league, we start 2 RB and a flex. My top RB's are AP, McFadden, and Fred Jackosn. All hurt. At least I got AP back this week, so I started him and Sproles. Took out CJ Spiller. Cost me 22 pts. Sproles scored a TD that got reversed and every replay failed to show where the ball was when he went down. Announcers even say it can't be reversed because it's impossible to tell. Got reversed anyway, cost me 6 points. I started 4 WR's, 1 of which was my flex. Dez Bryant, Jordy Nelson (worst game of year), Hakeem Nicks, and Larry Fitzgerald. Nicks dropped 2 tds, got tackled just before catching a td, and when he finally actually caught a td, it got called back for holding. I almost benched Fitzgerald due to tough match up, would have started Spiller, Lance Moore, Demarius Thomas, or Aaron Hernandez as my flex had I done so. All scored more than Fitz and would have won my game. At TE, I started Witten who's last catch of the night was nullified because Dallas accepted an illegal contact penalty, costing me 1 point. I had to choose between Akers and Novak as my kicker. Novak scored 10, Akers 8. Started Akers. Late in the game he kicked a field goal but the Steelers got called for illegal leaping, took fg off board, scored td, cost me 2 points. For defense, I had to choose between Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Had Steelers in my lineup all week, changed at last second because Footballs Guys cheat sheet had Baltimore #4 and Pitt. #16. Baltimore scored 0 points, Pitt. 3. I know this has been a long post, but I just can't believe this kind of stuff keeps happening to me. Is this the sort of thing that happens to others too? Should I shake it off and just get over it or accept that I'm cursed and quit the game? I can do no better than 3rd place now and the difference in 1st and 3rd place money is about $400. Really could have used it about now. Thanks for reading and replying.

It all started in week 10 when I traded away Michael Bush for Dwayne Bowe to the DMC owner... Worst mistake of the season. Not only does McFadden not return from injury, but Bush was a beast after the trade happened.

Weeks 14 & 15 point totals (2 week matchups)

Bowe: 10

Bush: 27

Lost my money league playoff matchup by 13 points....

My friend, you are not alone. My entire year was just full of things like you mentioned. All year: Seemingly every week I play against the player that has his one good game of the year..and the announcers go out of their way to mention it "Player X has just set the best day of his career" :) Then, of course, the guy goes back to being nothing all year. My guys hurt on the one week I needed them for a bye and of course all came back as soon as I was eliminated (and are playing well...looking at YOU felix Jones). If I benched a guy, he blew up. If I started him, he put up a clunker. Guys like Jordy nelson, Finley, Beanie, etc: The cost me a game when I have them in my lineup and they blister me the one week I play against them in another league.Moral of the story: I learned enough about FF this season to understand, IMO, it is NOT the same game it was when I started playing many years ago. To me, anyways, it seems like any degree of skill that used to be in it is completely out the window these days and it is now 95% pure luck week to week. My teams of pro bowlers bow out early and my most successful teams are the teams full of average guys. I won a playoff game with Matt Moore and Kevin walter and Kyle rudolph and beat a team with Eli, Nicks, and Gronk. That should be illegal in all 50 states. So, you are definitely not alone. Just time to rethink if FF is the same game.

Lost by .15 pts because I swapped out Marshall for Demarious Thomas at the last minute. Marshall finished with 12.4 vs Thomas 11.60.

That's the difference.

Also switched out Seattle D for Detroit 5 minutes before line-ups due and lost by 15.

I have no one to blame but myself. I had the teams to win it all and out managed myself.

First year in 7 years I won't win a title and it really sucks.

Last minute swaps are the worst.

I've learned that over the years.

I've learned that the Tuesday morning lineup I set (for the following Sunday) is almost always the best one.

Years ago, I weaned myself off the Sunday morning swaps that were killing me. Now, I'm coming to realize that it's often my last lineup swap that tanks me.

Sunday morning swaps should be for injuries only, at least for me. See you all next year...

Needed 12.8 points and 13.1 points from Antonio Brown in 2 leagues to advance....PPR league.

Has 5/59 for 10.9, and he makes the catch to put me over the top with about 2 minutes to go......called back by a penalty. That penalty call may cost me $500. Thanks refs.

SO I start my second-tier money league ($50 entry) by benching Greg Little because Clemens is starting and inserting James Jones.

Then, LeSean McCoy decides to go crazy and puts me behind by about 15 going into the Sunday night game. Ray Rice and Novak combine to put me up by a little more than 11 with Monday night pending.

I hold a 4.5 point lead with 9 minutes left in the game and Akers kicks another short field goal, giving him 3 points and trimming my lead to 1.5. A VERY questionable penalty on Pittsburgh defense takes the points off the board and gives the Niners first and goal at the 5.

Two plays later, a Frank Gore TD and Akers extra point put me behind by 3 and I go on to lose by 3.2 points. TAKE THE POINTS HARBAUGH!

Oh well....there's always next season, right?

SO I start my second-tier money league ($50 entry) by benching Greg Little because Clemens is starting and inserting James Jones.
Wow. Wow! Just wow.Wow!I've seen some crazy decisions in my day, especially all these folks benching and starting guys because of intent to cancel or not cancel players. I've seen guys benched for weather and sore elbows. I've seen guys bench cuz a sandwich said so.But benching an underperforming Browns receiver because a third-string QB is starting for the Rams in another stadium in another state..?That bakes the cake.

It does suck, but I can't say I pity you. 7 straight years with a title is a pretty nice little run.
