I know there is a buy low/sell high topic already, but this is hopefully an extension of that. If this is stupid, well, say that too so there isn't a week 3 one
.
For example, most people drafted Frank Gore in their first round. Despite a rough game (for all 49ers), most people aren't going to part with their first round pick after one week. Now, if New Orleans is able to score early and effectively take Gore out of the gameplan early, people might start to believe that his struggles are a trend. Two weeks of bad performances certainly allows for overreaction-squared.
There are also players who struggled week 1 that you are praying have a decent week so you can trade them for more than a can of soup. Even if you don't want to trade them, feel better than you used $X or your Xth pick to draft them.
So, what players do you want to do poorly/do well so you can trade them/trade for them/refrain from pulling out more hairs:
Mine -
C.J. Spiller, RB, Bills - My gut said stay away from this situation, yet I bought into the hype in more than one league. Two many RBs, poor QB play, and a rough schedule vs. the run. GB and NE should be able to score early most likely shutting down the run. Then for an encore they get the Jets in week 4 - very tough against the run. Green Bay has a decent run defense, so I'm hoping for a 60 yd, 1 TD day...and then he promptly goes on the trading block.
Jerome Harrison, RB, Browns - I think he has talent, but the fact that Hillis got carries and their only rushing TD is concerning. I'd really like to see him get 70% of the touches against a Kansas City defense that I'm not ready to consider elite. I want him to perform well so the coaching staff begins to stop using Hillis as much...to hold for the rest of the season
Malcom Floyd, WR, Chargers - Messy game in the mud. He has a stud QB. I fully expect/need him to perform well vs. Jacksonville...to hold for the rest of the season
Jamaal Charles, RB, Chiefs - Haley is frustrating. The only plausible explanation for Jones getting more carries than Charles in week 1 was they did build a 21-7 lead and San Diego was struggling to move the ball in the 1st half. I hope this was because he wants to save Charles' legs for the entire season. I'd love to see him blow up so that I feel good that Haley will give him the touches he really should be getting...to hold for the rest of the season
Felix Jones, RB, Cowboys - Tough road divisional game with almost half their starting OL missing. He does amazing things when he touches the ball. But, I don't like their RBB3C even if Choice is desperate to pad his stats by 1/2 yard. I hope he explodes week 2...and then promptly goes on the trading block.
Frank Gore, RB, 49ers - I pray he does poorly again in week 2 (but of course San Francisco wins). Their OL is young and will get better as the season progresses. I had no luck prying him in my leagues after week 1...really want to trade for him.
Calvin Johnson, WR, Lions - Hill will most likely start. He's put up nice numbers with subpar QB talent before. I really would like to see a 70+ yd, TD game vs. a tough Philly defense...to hold for the rest of the season
