Week 5 Waiver Wire GEMS (2 Viewers)

Good chance James White was dropped in your PPR leagues, thinking he is a good speculative add to see what happens with Brady back. Check out his stats from the end of last season...I know a lot of people are back on Lewis but I don't know that he's a lock to return this season.

I feel bad for Washington. I always like to see an opportunity for a young kid go great for them, especially a longshot type like Washington who was barely even drafted. Nobody want's to see Washington fail, or worse get injured during his opportunity, but expectations got well out of hand. I was just trying to help people interested in FFB with my posts, not meant to anger anyone.

I drafted Bilal Powell late in the draft and then dropped him.  I think he's worth picking back up again.
Been holding Powell (to spite the Forte owner and because I thought his contract meant he'd get playtime and didn't think Forte would hold up with the insane amount of work they were giving him) looks like my stubbornness might finally pay off.

My problem is I don't know who to drop.  I have plenty of WRs but hate to drop one and let another team get him.  I'll probably just drop Winston or Flacco since I hate having two QBs on my roster.

Good idea. If in doubt or to break a talent tie ... drop the QB. Easiest position to fill in most formats.

I'll make this easy for you.  Look at Winston's playoff schedule.
I have Flacco & Winston in a 2 QB league. I'm trading Winston, but if I had to drop one it would be Flacco. The dude has just been bad. Winston at least will sling it down the field. He's going to get some INTs but he's trying to get something. Flacco is a 6 YPA 1 TD kind of guy.

I'd be trading FOR Winston if I didn't already have him...

Well, he's pretty much already hit the tough part of his schedule and then there's NO twice in weeks 14 and 16.

Why would you be buying? I won't get into circumstances as to why I'm making a move since nobody cares and this isn't the place.
Check out his schedule. We've already seen him throw for 400+ against a Rams defense that destroyed Palmer yesterday and held Seattle to two field goals the week before. And he's got a defense that can't stop anyone, meaning they will be playing from behind a lot this year.

Someone in my league dropped Winston after his terrible week 2 and I was thrilled to pick him up. I think he's an every-week starter once he gets through the bye.

Based on what Atlanta did to Carolina, that matchup isn't what most of us expected it to be. Perhaps I should hold on him. I'm in a league that starts 2 QBs & 2 TEs, all TDs 6. Was going to move Winston, Ware, Jordan Reed for Brady, Tye, Derrick Henry (basically dumping the latter 2). I was hoping he wouldn't cancel the offer so tomorrow morning I could take it. TEs are hard to find, and I'm having a hard time passing up Brady.

Part of the problem with Winston is I haven't seen any of the TB games. I can see the stats and read what people write. But I like to see the guys play first hand. Maybe that's why I'm not as high on him.

I know this isn't the place for it but I would guess you lose more points at TE by giving up Reed than you gain at QB by going from Winston > Brady. Anyway good luck with whatever you decide!

He is a borderline QB1 and is almost done with the hard part of his lineup.  He might be done with it if Carolina is as bad as they looked yesterday.

He is the perfect buy low guy now.

But what good is Winston now?  He plays the Panthers and then a bye week.  I figure I can drop him and pick him back up in a couple weeks.  Most teams are already carrying two QBs so I doubt they're going to be racing to pick Winston up.

Perhaps. I know that he's struggling and since week 1 he hasn't done much. The schedule does get easier, but he wouldn't be the first 2nd year QB to have a sophomore slump. I need to watch him in action. The idea of angry Brady is enticing.

After this past weekend are you really scared of the panthers D?

Do a lot of guys in your league drop QBs for their bye week?  In mine a low end QB1 would be scooped up immediately.

It depends on who their QB is.  I don't like to hold two QBs ever but kind of have to with Winton's early schedule.  Once the Bucs get past their bye I'm fine with just Winston.

He put up 405yds and 3 TDs in wk 3.  Is that struggling?

Yesterday was good but that was against Denver.  What QB has done well against them?

Is there a consensus who would get the bulk of the work in houston if miller were to go down?  because if so that guy needs to be stashed.  Booker from Denver if not already rostered.  I think james white becomes relevant again with brady back.  I dont know of many instant gratification WW adds this week.  Eddie Royal might be a legit WR3 for ROS.  Brian Quick is intriquing.  His long TD was flukey for sure, but he errupted on to the scene in 2014 before slowng down for 3 games and then getting hurt.  but i cant imagine too many are hurting for WR help

White was dropped in my league.  Interesting possibilities.

In leagues where there isn't much QB talent on the waiver wire you need to start considering Hoyer.  Two decent statistical games and some talk that the always hated Cutler isn't guaranteed the starting job.

what to do with Inman.... looked like the light went on a bit yesterday, but it was against the saints who make a lot of guys look good

But defense aside, in terms of placement and where to be, thats the best I've seen Inman look.
Looked like the Saints were putting a rookie on Inman in coverage a ton yesterday, so I'd temper expectations a bit based off just the one outing.

Agreed but I'm liking see the faith be rewarded by rivers continuing to go to Him. Only really off play was that tipped ball that that hit him in the hands but was a rough play

Washington  (oak) was dropped in my league.  Worth picking up?
I was thinking about picking up Richard just because it's a return yardage league (1 = 40), but they seem content to run all three out every week.

I have a bunch of lottery tickets sitting on our wire:

  • Booker
  • Dixon (also West, I'll let other people bid on him)
  • Smallwood
  • Draughn
  • Lewis (doesn't look promising but who knows)
Will probably grab Booker. I think Dixon is the chalk play but I don't feel like he'll be a difference maker. I guess he'll take the passing down role form Allen short term. Long term he has to win the rushing role from West. CJA has a lockdown on the 3 down role, but if he gets dinged....and it seems like he often does...then you know the Denver RB is a golden ticket. Smallwood doesn't seem dynamic enough to overtake Matthews but might have some value in a time share. Draughn was unimpressive last year but I guess like any of these, volume if the incumbent gets hurt.

I got dixon already.  I still think he takes that job.  Don't believe in west

Inman had a few nice games last year iirc - obviously when other Charger receivers weren't available.

BUT they aren't playing the Saints every week - absent another Charger injury I think Inman is only a matchup play - still I have him on my bench, ready for either reason

Who the better add for this coming week?

Woods vs la

or

coates vs nyj

He did look good, but man oh man was Rivers unhappy with that drop of his right at the end. Suspect someone else will be Phil's go to guy next week.

Inman was very matchup specific IMO, by which I mean not just the Saints but the very specific rookie UDFA CB they were constantly targeting.

Martellus Bennett is available in my work league (I have Pitta). The waiver wire report on this site is listing him as my top add for this week. Anyone think he'll continue the production with Brady's return?

Yes.  Any receiver Brissett can find, Brady can find better.

Eifert and Ertz both coming off injuries may be upgrades to your TE

Kerley getting a lot of targets from a team that will be behind often.

Drop D Parker for Q Enunwa? 12 man ppr. Decker looks to be out for a while and Parker has been borderline boom or bust. I could see Tannehill improving later in the season under Gase but who knows how long that will be. Enunwa would be more for depth if I picked him up.
