Week 6 Survivor Discussion (1 Viewer)

Instinctive

Footballguy
Many of us are still playing in Survivor pools either here or elsewhere, so let's get some discussion going:

Week 6 games:

Carolina at Atlanta

Indianapolis at Cincinnati

San Francisco at Detroit

St. Louis at Green Bay

Buffalo at N.Y. Giants

Jacksonville at Pittsburgh

Philadelphia at Washington

Houston at Baltimore

Cleveland at Oakland

Dallas at New England

New Orleans at Tampa Bay

Minnesota at Chicago

Miami at N.Y. Jets

I personally like the green games - avoiding divisional games when I can, taking home teams when I can. That means Detroit this week, I think, although I'm considering them, Pittsburgh, New England, Cincinnati.

Looks like a nice place to take the Bengals. The Ravens look nice too, coming off the bye at home, but HOU is dangerous. Then again, no AJ means perhaps this is an easy spot to take the Ravens.

I should mention that I'd like the Jets/Packers had I not used them already.

1. Green Bay

2. Cincy

3. Detroit

4. Pittsburgh

5. New York Jets

6. New England

Baltimore?????

That's my current ranking of teams to pick, what do you all think?

I'm likely going with Pittsburgh this week. I think it is crucial to look ahead to weeks 8 and 9, where there are very few favorable matchups. If I recall, I think Baltimore has one of the few good matchups in week 8, so I plan to save them for that.

I like the Cincinnati play myself - they're playing well, at home to Indy. Only issue is that Indy has looked decent the past two weeks as well. That leaves me thinking Detroit at home. SFO's weakness is the pass and they're strong against the run...Detroit can't consistently run anyway - their best runs are basically passes to Best, just plays to get him space to use his explosiveness.

Going with Oakland vs. Cleveland, but only because I already used Green Bay (STONE. COLD. LOCK!)....

Raiders first game in the Black Hole after Al's death. If they lose this game, I don't deserve to be in the pool anyway.

Any worries about a letdown from the emotional HOU win? Or that Cleveland is coming off a bye week? Have GB to use, but, obviously, they have other weeks they can be valuable.Down to one entry, so want to cover all the angles. Originally was targeting ATL, but with Jones out, how they are playing, and the nagging feeling CAR is going to pull a road upset sooner or later after being close a few times, just not solid on that one.

I like Pitt here @home against JAX and it's not very close for me.

My man reasoning is that after this they are @Cardinals, NE, BAL, @Bengals, BYE. They really don't have a ton of games left like the one this week IMO and the way they have played recently I can see any of the two away games being upsets and their two home games are very tough..

Jets are another nice option as they have not been playing well and would be a sketchy pick the rest of the season after they have a reeling Miami team at home.

NO chance of a letdown. They will be honoring Mr. Davis before the game. The boys will play their guts out.If they lose, it will be because Cleveland played a good game. Not because the Raiders were flat.

I think you underestimate the chance of this...I dislike picking against teams coming off a bye.Pit is a game I like. Been picking against Jax when I can. I am still a bit afraid of picking Cincy, I used GB, I'm a bit afraid of NE (DAL coming off bye, pass defense bad) and I used the Jets...

It comes down to PIT vs DET for me. San Fran is much better than Jax, IMO. The question is, does it matter?

Leaning towards OAK and as much of an anti-Cleveland view and pro-Oakland. Cleveland's performance to date:Wk 1 - lost to CIN at home

Wk 2 - beat Collins-led IND on the road

Wk 3 - late win at home MIA

Wk 4 - torched on the road by TEN

Outside of TEN, OAK is clearly superior, imho, to these teams. Pre-game ceremony honoring Al Davis should have team and crowd pumped, so, with good start, this could turn into a blowout quickly. I do concur with the "coming off bye" view, but, to me, the Brownies are stepping into a potential hornet's nest.

Thoughts?

Like the Jets and the Steelers as well.

Cincy is a gutsy, going for the gold pick. But I am nervous about the Colts, I feel like they are going to beat someone better than them soon.

Going to see if I can avoid NFC East teams all year.

Going against my normal strategy this week and taking the Bengals.

I really like the Bengals this week because they have one of the best defenses in the league, I don't think Painter is as good as he's looked (kinda lucky with a WR screen going for 60+ yards in week 4 and having a complete blown coverage last week lead to another 60+ yard score), the Colts are likely to be missing Jerraud Powers so AJ Green should run wild, and the Colts run D is terrible so Benson should be able to grind out yards allowing the Bengals to dominate the time of possession. My main worry is Freeney/Mathis doing some forced fumble sacks that lead to defensive TDs for the Colts; outside of that I think the Bengals are in good shape to do well in this game.

Normally I avoid picking teams with rookie QBs, and I strongly prefer to take teams that are -300 on the ML or better, but I simply struggle to envision the Colts winning this game. I still haven't used the Packers yet, so this may be a dumb move on my part but we'll see.

What a dead week this was... NOBODY in my pool lost. :wall:

There are still a dozen people with the Jets tomorrow night though, so we can still pray for a miracle from the Fins.

Nobody took the Saints. :(
331 left in our pool. Lost 8 with the Saints and 3 1 teamers. Still hope, as the Jets were the #1 pick of the week, so could wipe out another 73. If f'n Marshall could hang onto anything..sheesh!Happy I got to use Oakland this week. Sorry, RN, tough loss of Campbell when Boller is next in line. Good luck finding something better out there.
