Week 7 Waiver Wire pickups (1 Viewer)

Unfortunately, I had a half-marathon today and missed the games. So I have nothing to contribute. Anyone else have any good pickups?

TE

O. Daniels. Think he is getting back to 100%.

H. Miller.
Coming off his best two games, and encouraging reports after Friday reports (when he has been pushing it the hardest). We knew in preseason he wasn't quite there yet, but he's close to back to normal now.

I'm thinking McCoy may look to Ben Watson even more than expected with Cribbs and MoMass apparently concussed...

Great pickup for Gates/Finley owners who may have snagged Pettigrew (now on bye) or just in general.

My thoughts based on who's available in my main league:

TE:

Heath Miller - 2 for 50 and TD. This is the safest TE bet.

Ben Watson - 6 for 88 and TD with new CLE QB. Lots of Cleveland WR injuries so last man standing.

Owen Daniels - 5 for 79. Owen finally looks like himself again. We all know his upside...

Tony Moeaki - He got hurt by a rare good week from Bowe. Moeaki will return to a good game next week when Cassel returns to earth (won't be playing HOU defense again).

WR:

Patrick Crayton - 6 for 117. Will be Rivers' #1 target for a while, nuff said.

Deion Branch - 9 for 98 and TD. They ARE going to use him since they paid a lot.

Mike Williams (SEA) - 10 for 123. The Deion Branch effect?

Danario Alexander - 4 for 71 and TD. Could be Sam Bradford's new dude.

Derrick Mason - 8 for 100.

Buster Davis - 3 for 39 and TD. Another benefactor from Floyd and Gates absence. Some say he's the best WR talent after VJax on SD.

Legedu Nanee - Gotta keep on the radar based on the Floyd injury status. Missed week 6 with hammy injury. Again, someone in SD is going to be getting it from Rivers.

Gotta like Danny Woodhead, too. He'll get a lot of yards and catches.

I don't get that when a fluky player has a big week, he's automatically a waiver wire pickup. Guys like Ivory etc baffle me.

How do you know it will be for a while? Has it already been said that Floyd will miss a while?
Gates High ankle sprainFloyd had a Hammy issue Of course the severity is unknown
Is a high ankle sprain confirmed? I haven't heard anything.
who knows what it is, but he couldnt keep playing and was in a walking boot and couldnt put any pressure on the ankle at all.

That's fair. I'm a Gates owner (just traded for him after losing Finley, sigh). So for me, Crayton could offer a level of insurance. I'm assuming the worst for Gates since I sorta have to. Regarding Floyd, I'm also assuming a few weeks at least (again, I had McFadden and Moreno so I'm used to these as well). For a WR with a hammy injury, I think we're usually talking 1-2 weeks minimum. So just guesses, but the upside with Rivers as your QB is enough for me to like Crayton #1 at WR off the waiver wire.

Don't say it's a high ankle sprain until you know that, please. Heart attack.

Guys says "High Ankle Sprain" and then "Who knows what it is". Don't name a specific injury unless you know what it is. This is how boards fall apart. Stop with the speculation.

I get why Ivory would be ww pickup. Some people have RBs who are injured, and Ivory has what is called opportunity right now with the Saints who signed him as an undrafted free agent. He is especially valuable to owners of Pierre Thomas or Reggie Bush.

:lmao: In a lot of competitive FFB leagues, you can't wait around for a guy to produce for three straight weeks. You've got to roll the dice over and over again on flashes to get ahead of your opponents.

What's Ivory's life expectancy with Pierre healing and Bush even getting nearer? Tough to use waiver on a guy like this when he might only be a good play for one more week.

Who would be a better pickup: Crayton or Avant?-Gates and Djax owner
Crayton. IMO there are more variables in the Avant situation, for example, will Vick target him like Kolb did? I think Rivers will find Crayton as long as Floyd/Gates miss time.

sometimes, just sometimes, it's not a fluke.
Indeed. Learned my lesson last year when I passed on Miles Austin's 'fluke' game. I say take a stab at these type of guys.

I don't see Bush's return as having an impact on Ivory seeing how they play different roles. Who knows when PT will come back. It sounds like Peyton was being a little coy in his original reports about the severity of PT'sinjury, so who knows if what they're saying about him healing up is the truth.

1 week is a fluke2 weeks is a patternThe problem for everyone is the sharks know this and aren't letting you wait around for that 2nd week of production. Strike first and be a shark. If you miss like I did this week with Brandon Tate then fix it quickly with another player. Seek out your needs and go for the lottery ticket when they blow up, it could be worth it.

I don't know who to pick up yet, but this will be one crazy week on the waiver wires.

Look at who's on bye in Week 7:

QB -- P.Manning, Schaub, S.Hill/Stafford, Sanchez.

RB -- Foster, Best, Addai/D.Brown, Tomlinson/Greene.

WR -- Wayne/Collie/Garcon, A.Johnson/J.Jones/Walter, C.Johnson/Burleson, Holmes/B.Edwards/Cotchery.

TE -- Clark, Keller, Scheffler/Pettigrew, Daniels.

K -- Rackers, Folk, Hanson, Vinatieri.

Now look at who will or "might" miss Week 7 games with an injury:

Mark Clayton (IR), Finley (IR), Grant (IR), R.Bush, P.Thomas, D.Jackson, Gates (?), Floyd (?), Heap (?), McFadden (?) and I'm probably forgetting others.

Considering I have several of the above-mentioned guys on my FF teams, I'll be lucky to start respectable lineups next weekend, so I really hope to hit on one or two of these WW pick-ups.

ETA -- I forgot about Cooley being concussed, so his Week 7 status might be shaky.

Is this serious? Torain was a super-fluky pickup for me while Portis was still playing and just dealing with a wrist injury. In competitive leagues, you have to take a shot at a RB with an opportunity like a potential lottery ticket. Who's to say Pierre Thomas' injury isn't more serious, or that Payton won't continue to use Ivory if he looks great? This is the core of fantasy football.

Ugh, tell me about it. Those 5 along with the Jets D, I'm going to have to cut McGahee or Javon Ringer just to have a starting lineup. Tampa Mike gets his first start next week.
