Week 7 Waiver Wire pickups (1 Viewer)

I've got AJ on bye and Gates and Djax out. It is going to be an ugly week for me. Might have to drop VJax for someone after I just picked him up.

I'm really torn between Avant and Buster Douglas(Crayton gone). Really need a WR for bye-week fill-in. Probably going Douglas since I'm already starting Maclin and Celek...lol. Has anyone ever started 2 WRs and a tight-end from the same team? And it actually payed off?

Wayne, Harrison, Clark :)

Now may be the time to get Devin Aromashadu- only 2 receptions for 40 yds but IMHO he is still the best reciever on team- if he is working his way out of doghouse he could be big down stretch again.....

keep an eye on driver news....

Quite a few WRs who could potentially have a big impact that might be sitting on a lot of league's ww. Some for the next week or two, others longer term.

I'd probably put them in this order:

Branch

BMW

Alexander

Crayton

Avant

I think that looks like the right order to me for redraft. Alexander would move to the top in Dynasty.

Redraft I really think Crayton has to sit right behind Branch. The QB is Rivers vs. a washed up Hasselhoff and there's less competition for catches in SD for a while.

I think that depends on the injuries in SD. If Gates and Floyd are out for a number of weeks you may be right.

Second this one.

Had BMW originally but dropped him for Kenny Britt a few weeks ago. If I had a spot I'd grab him off our WW.

I don't see it but I'm open to an argument.

Douglas does have a great right hook.

Let's hope he doesn't run into LeGarette Blount during warmups.

choosing between danario alexander and BMW, who would you take?
I'm faced with this decision in a keeper league and I'm still not sure. I have about three hours to decide before I have to submit my claim. Damn, I hate this.
are you keeping the entire team? If so I'd take a chance on Danario over BMW---I like his prospects w/a stud young QB vs SEA--when Hass hangs it up who do they have?

I know this could be applicable to any team but the first thing I thought about Branch was, "Next week it's Welker... or Tate.. or..."
It's certainly applicable to Seattle. Next week it could be Butler, or Tate, or Stokely, or Carlson...It's been WRBC in both places thus far. Now that may be changing in SEA, as BMW's 15 targets this past week attest. But I don't trust Carroll so I'd still want to see it again. Of course, you can't trust Belichek, either. Still in PPR, I'd bet on the QB and take Branch.

Whitehurst wont be a Pro Bowl Player, but he will be better than an old Hass . . .

This is pure speculation, but the talk of Brady having lobbied for Branch's signing, as well as the reports of them directly discussing Branch coming back to NE, coupled with the big cut in GUARANTEED 2010 money that Yudkin reported Branch took to get the deal done - this points to Brady feeling an obligation to feed Branch for the rest of the season. I see a big role for Branch in that offense going forward, with a floor of #3 in targets behind Hernandez and Welker. In an offense that has averaged 33 pass attempts/game for the last decade, Branch is good for consistent WR2 numbers in PPR for the rest of the year.

Assuming he stays healthy - which is the critical assumption - he's the guy to grab here.

Branch renegotiated his contract. Instead of $6 million due in 2011, he pared it down to $2.2 million (plus incentives it could be worth a total of $4 million).

ETA - my bad - just noticed the 2011 part. weakens my argument somewhat.

haha.....brady and branch have a connection, but so do welker and brady, and brady and every open guy.

brady will most certainly look for branch, but to be fair about it, branch got that td because brady had a ton of time and branch shook loose in the end zone.

branch had a great day on little study time, but bear in mind that in his prime he was catching just short of 80 balls for about 1000 yards and 5 scores.

good, but not great.

I think he caught 6(??) balls in regulation, which again, is good but not great.

branch most likely restructured his 2011 money because that's what the market bears for him.

I doubt seattle was going to pay him that dough, and if he's on the street after a mediocre seattle season, I doubt he commands any kind of salary, if he can even sign a deal in 2011.

new england breathed new life into moss's career, and it's probably branch's best shot, although I think he honestly likes being here, too.

seattle was cleaning house.

Sweet jesus, hit the jackpot as the guys in my keeper league who are normally high on the uptake fell asleep on waivers this week. Got BMW, DX, and Crayton and was even able to grab Watson to backup Cooley. I think I'm going to have a late night cold one just to celebrate. :goodposting:

QB:

Tarvaris Jackson: I am not sure if and when Favre could be suspended, but this is one of the more explosive receiving units in the league, and Jackson could get his opportunity. If you have a deep bench, he is worth a stash, and he just could be that QB that leads fantasy teams on some late runs.

RB:

LeGarrette Blount: With Huggins down, perhaps Blount will resurface. He flashed some big-time ability, but was a healthy scratch last week. I have not heard any news surrounding that, and perhaps it had less to do with Blount's ability than the team's intention to get Huggins heavily involved. Either way, Blount should be squarely on your radars now.

Deji Karim: As long as MJD is healthy, Karim has little value, but Karim could have very serious value if MJD breaks down.

Danny Woodhead: If you are in a PPR, Woodhead should certainly be rostered. He is undersized, but he uses his size to his advantage, and Brady is keyed in on him.

Derrick Ward: Ward has shown he can still play, and if Foster finds himself in the trainer's room, you will be kicking yourself for leaving Ward on the Waiver Wire. Ward is an immediate fantasy starter in the event of a Foster injury. Foster owners especially would be wise to grab and stash Ward for that deep fantasy playoff run.

Javon Ringer: Speaking of handcuffs . . . Ringer is one of the more capable backups in the league.

Chris Ivory: The window to acquire Ivory may have just slammed shut. Thomas and Bush may be back soon, seriously putting a damper on Ivory's value going forward, and Ivory may return to some waiver wires in the not-so-distant future, but Ivory runs with speed and determination; he will still find his way on the field.

WR:

Denario Alexander/Mardy Gilyard: Alexander is the hot pickup at the moment, and rightly so. He showed Moss-like talent in his first NFL start, and Bradford wasted no time getting Alexander involved. Alexander has tremendous athletic ability and solid receiving ability. If he can remain healthy, he should continue to improve. Gilyard should not be forgotten. Receivers are dropping like flies in St. Louis, and given Alexander's injury history, he could follow suit. Gilyard is a tremendous talent as well. His day may be coming.

Brandon Tate: The waiver wire darling from a couple weeks ago is likely to be back on some waiver wires thanks to some impatient fantasy owners and some short benches. Tate did not have a reception this week, and it was the returning Branch who looked like the wideout to own in NE. Tate did have a nice reverse and was targeted several times. His value should increase in upcoming weeks as Brady tries to air it out. Welker and Woodhead are excellent in getting the underneath stuff, and Hernandez is keeping defenses honest, so the long game could open up nicely. Don't give up on Tate yet.

Buster Davis/Patrick Crayton: With Naanee and Floyd both injured, Gates hobbled and VJ still not back, Davis and Crayton may both get some extensive work. Davis shows glimpses of greatness at times, but Crayton probably has the better short-term value here.

Deon Butler: Mike Williams is finally showing why the coaches were raving about him. If Williams continues to be targeted and defenses adjust, Butler's value may actually improve. Butler is a good dynasty grab, and even short-term should have some decent value.

Chaz Schilens: Schilens had knee surgery in late August, and while there is little news about his return date, he is a receiver to monitor. Schilens could step in as the WR1 for the Raiders, and with Gradkowski at the helm, that could actually be a position of value.

TE:

Evan Moore: Moore has some real upside here, and with nagging injuries to the receiving corps, Moore may be utilized more.

Shawn Nelson: Nelson is back from his suspension, and he could work his way into some fantasy relevance soon.
