Weekly Waiver Wire Pick Ups (1 Viewer)

I am setting up a new 10 - 12 team league. I am not a fan of the worst team first rule for pick ups during weekly waivers. I would really much perfer to do a weekly auction for player acquitions. I think it's better than rewarding the weak. Auctions that work the best are blind bid auctions. This is how I envison mine working

Each owner begins the season with 50 fictional bid dollars.

Each owner is allowed 1 bid per week per player.

Bidding stops on Tuedsdays at 9:00 PM weekly.

If a player doesn't receive a bid, he can be selected on a first come first serve basis (after the 9:00 PM deadline passes) for the rest of the week

I run into a snag with the blind bidding process. Is there a site out there that I could use to handle my blind auction. I think it's a pretty neat idea.

Other than finding a site that could handle such a thing, I could set up a mailbox and the league owners would have to send emails to the site on a weekly basis with their bids. I would also have to find a neutral party (someone who is not in my FF league) to handle the weekly blind bid email. Finding a reliable person could be a problem. Does anyone have a solution to this problem. I would really like to do this in season auctuion.

Thanks and sorry for any spelling errors

MFL.com (MyFantasyLeague.com) takes care of all the concerns/questions you have in your post

Oh snap I see RTS offers the Bidding service. I should have checked it out before I posted. I am a lifetime Sportsline guy. I think I might be making a change.

Sportsline can do this under Setup > League Rules > Add/Drop Policy.

yep, sportsline just added the feature this year. how it works remains to be seen.
This is how CBS Sportsline says it works in their help section:"What is FAAB (Free Agent Acquisition Budget)?

Answer:

FAAB stands for Free Agent Acquisition Budget. Every add/drop is granted via a blind bidding system that is processed automatically. Each time an owner has an add/drop processed they will be placed at the bottom of the FAAB order. If there is a tie for a player, the FAAB order is used; the owner that is higher in the list will receive the player and be moved to the bottom.

You can also select the Commissioner FAAB approval process. Free agents are still picked up via a blind bidding system, but it is processed by the commissioner not automatically. The Commissioner will go to the Transactions Request page to process the winning bids.

If you select to use either of the two available FAAB options, each owner will go to the Transactions add-drop page and select the players to be added and dropped then a bid is entered. The team with the highest bid for that player will be awarded the player and the bid value subtracted from their budget.

Example:

Team #1 as listed in the FAAB order inputs a request for three players:

Player "a" bid of $15

Player "b" bid of $10

Player "c" bid of $10

Team # 8 as listed in the FAAB order inputs a request for three players:

Player "b" bid of $5

Player "a" bid of $25

Player "c" bid of $10

The system would look at Team #1 and look at the first player on his bid list (in this case, Player A). The system would then search through every bid submitted for Player A. The team with the highest bid for Player A would win that player. In this two team example, team 8 would be awarded Player A.

Since Team # 1 did not aquire the first player on his list (Player A), the FAAB system next references Team #1's second listed player (Player B). In the example above, Team #1 wins Player B.

The system now references the first requested player for the next team in the FAAB order. "

Hope that helps...

CBS does not allow for first-come-first-serve (or any other type) free agent moves when using the bidding process other than placing a bid. Per other replies in this post I will be checking out MFL to see if they can do this. Also, I do not have a clear answer on wheter CBS allows for conditional bids and there can be no free agent moves at all if using their FAAB.

BTW we have been using CBS for 3 years now running our own bidding process through the message board. It has been annoying, but works well for the most part. We use a similar process to the original poster where bidding goes through THU 9pm and first-come-first-serve pick ups begin THU 10pm, the hour off allows me to process all bids and place the players.
