If you promise to keep them away from the gorillas, you can go to the zoo.Guess I'll have to take the kids to Sea World now.
I usually keep a pretty good eye on them.If you promise to keep them away from the gorillas, you can go to the zoo.
People didn't go. That's why they're closing. Literally, the owner cited poor attendance.Really bummed about this. So tired of self appointed morality police deciding what i should or should not be doing/watching/entertained by. I get it, people may not like their product, so don't go. But if I don't have a problem with it then don't take it way from me.
Discusted.

Actually, he said the attendance dropped after they were forced by protestors to remove the elephants.People didn't go. That's why they're closing. Literally, the owner cited poor attendance.
Yes. But it's been sagging for years before that.Actually, he said the attendance dropped after they were forced by protestors to remove the elephants.
@the moops excellent addition to the conversation....![]()
Have you been to the circus in the past 10 years?Actually, he said the attendance dropped after they were forced by protestors to remove the elephants.
Yes. With both my kids, 2x.Have you been to the circus in the past 10 years?
As have I, 3 or 4 times. You probably noticed how bad attendance was.Yes. With both my kids, 2x.
Disney on ice was just as sparce IMO. A few things in would say is that if you look at the schedule, there is 6-8 performances per weekend at most venues. Doubt even middle -tier rock bands could sell out that many consecutive dates. Plus right now, RB is running 2 touring shows, I enjoyed the circus, but I'm not buying tickets for a family of 4 if I've seen it already in the last few months. As have I, 3 or 4 times. You probably noticed how bad attendance was.
Strange. My 4 and 6 year old didn't bring up how "outdated" it was. I should've told them.Consumers have other, better options these days. If outdated forms of entertainment can't evolve then they should fade into history. 146 years is a great run.
Yay free market capitalism!
At one point in their history they catered to a wider demographic than flapgreen's two kids.Strange. My 4 and 6 year old didn't bring up how "outdated" it was. I should've told them.
After much evaluation and deliberation, my family and I have made the difficult business decision that Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® will hold its final performances in May of this year. Ringling Bros. ticket sales have been declining, but following the transition of the elephants off the road, we saw an even more dramatic drop. This, coupled with high operating costs, made the circus an unsustainable business for the company.
Everything Disney related is way too expensive, imo.Does anyone else think the entertainment options are too expensive these days? The Disney on Ice shows, concerts, broadway style plays, cirque shows, etc they're all approaching or more than $100/ticket for a decent seat. For instance, was going to buy the wife and daughter Hippodrome tix to see Beautiful and orchestra row W seats were $174 each. WTF?
Don't think its too bad. We do the disney on ice show every year. Only do a couple of things like that a year.Does anyone else think the entertainment options are too expensive these days? I think that's the case with anything directly tied to Ticketmaster and any large arena. Add in the secondary "scalper" market and it's insane. I've all but given up going to music concerts for any large act.Does anyone else think the entertainment options are too expensive these days? Not sure what more a circus could do. It's a circus. At one point in their history they catered to a wider demographic than flapgreen's two kids.
Very good point. The secondary market has pretty much ruined most things. I haven't been to a concert in a large venue in many years. However, I don't think it's affected things like the Circus and Disney on Ice.I think that's the case with anything directly tied to Ticketmaster and any large arena. Same. We only do a couple kids events a year. Disney on Ice last year was fantastic.Don't think its too bad. We do the disney on ice show every year. Only do a couple of things like that a year.
What really pisses me off is when I want to get the kids cotton candy but they package it with a balloon or a hat or something and charge $15 for it.
