Well, we've done it. Ringling Brothers has cancelled the circus (1 Viewer)

Great, now what're all those creepy ### clowns going to do? We may really need Batman.

I feel bad sometimes for animals in zoos too.
Zoos are (I believe) historically purposed to wildlife preservation and research.  I'm not certain if that is still how most zoos operate, but it's a far cry from the circus.  Not implying you suggested that, but I do think many people feel bad about animals in zoos (including myself) without knowing that zoos were traditionally established for the protection of certain wildlife species.

i took my son to a Ringling Bros show a couple of years ago. It was at the United Center. It was some bullcrap show that pitted boys against girls, complete with stereotypical pink versus blue costumes for the performers. I thought it was pretty dumb as a theme. Worst part was the music that was cranked to 11. We left after 20 minutes. I had a different experience as a kid with Gunter Gable Williams and whatnot. I wouldn't spend another dime on them because it's a so freakin lame now.

Really bummed about this. So tired of self appointed morality police deciding what i should or should not be doing/watching/entertained by. I get it, people may not like their product, so don't go.  But if I don't have a problem with it then don't take it way from me.

Discusted.
Wait, you don't really think people were upset just because they had elephants performing, do you?

I agree that most of the themes were extremely cheesy and I can't wait to get out of there.  But one year it was about Bello The Clown.   Guy was involved in almost all of the performances.  I was actually entertained.

They could have evolved into what cirque de soleiel is now and still been running strong.
Aren't   cirque du soleil tickets super spendy? Not sure below avg FBGs like me would have taken kids to see that.

Everything Disney related is way too expensive, imo.

I'm about a 3 or 4 hour drive away from Orlando and it's just not worth the price they charge for tickets to the park, food, etc. Then you have to wait for hours, literally, in some lines for a 3 minute ride. The hell with that.
Gotta use the E ticket man.  Only good ones in the book.

It's very important to teach children to respect animals.

As a yute I wet the bed and started fires. I was sent to a lot of psychologists and they weren't so concerned about me because I was loving towards animals and didn't exhibit the full McDonald triad.

Teaching your children to love and respect animals is good for society even if they burn things and pee the bed
