Thanks Wes, you the man, especially in a PPR. Not sure I would trade him for any WR in the game in PPR leagues. Maybe Mega, but I have him too

A real gym rat. Plays bigger than his size. Smart player. He's real scrappy.
Traded him in 3 dynasty leagues in the offseason. Already lost to him twice to teams I traded him to week 1 and week 3 singly handidly he beat me.Thanks Wes...I really appreciate it!
What now?I better the Hoodie would have taken a win over the Bills instead of throwing to him and Gronk on every play though LOL, hey Hoodie remember when you guys won your earliest first in your WR corps who was around, oh yea, a guy name Deion Branch right? zero catches for Branch 15 for 20 (lost count) for Welker and you guys lost, maybe the key to the Wr corp isn't Welker and it's Branch. wasn't Welker in Miami when the Patriots won their first Superbowls.....I'm just saying, lol I do like Welker he's a great role model for any kid that as a dream to be in the NFL, it's not the size of the dog that matters it s how big his balls are. That "lil person" dude his crazy lol but every exciting to watch I always chuckle when he smokes Dbs lol
Much higher in competitive leagues. 4th round, 3rd in PPR.'thatguy said:Has to be the most valuable player thus far relative to draft position. I don't remember the exact round I got him in, but know it was pretty late, probably 10th round or so. Anyone know what his ADP was?
I went back and looked. Got him in the 8th round. It's actually a pretty competitive 12 team league, $100 buy-in. The draft took place right after got carted off during the pre-season game, and I think this scared a lot of owners off.Much higher in competitive leagues. 4th round, 3rd in PPR.'thatguy said:Has to be the most valuable player thus far relative to draft position. Drafted him in every league but one (traded Colston and Lynch for him pre week 1), in one of my really competitive 10 team 2 keeper league I blew up my draft trading my 2nd and 4th round picks for ADP and traded Peterson for CJ2K +the first pick of the 6th round (clearly not paying off) but after sitting through 5 rounds and only getting 2 players there was Wes, 3rd pick in the 5th round - Beautiful.I went back and looked. Welker has certainly gotten off on the right foot this year.

I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that a pace of 165/2,442 is unsustainable. But over 100 receptions is easily doable, much like Welker did from 07-09. And last year he had 86 rec in 15 games coming off less than a year from an ACl tear. If he finishes with 120/1300 that's still a pace of 6 catches for 60 some odd yards for the next 13 games. PPR gold.Hate to be a naysayer, I just don't see this level of production sustainable all year for Welker. If he were like Calvin and grabbing touchdowns all day that just seems less wear and tear on the body than 31/458 through 3 games. Granted he is getting red zone love as well, but the cuts this guy makes needs to be taken into account. A freak yes, but Superman, no.
I don't think it makes you a naysayer to suggest Welker isn't going to sustain 160/2400/21 pace. But damn, it's a fun ride while he's on it.Hate to be a naysayer, I just don't see this level of production sustainable all year for Welker. Over 100 I can see, he is already 30% there! But 165 receptions as you suggest, as I said, he's not Superman. Knowing the Chick, he'll get run into the ground before then. Just be prepared later down the stretch is all I'm saying.I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that a pace of 165/2,442 is unsustainable. My league is not PPR and he went in the 8th, to me. And it is a competitive league.'irish eyes said:i laugh when i hear these people say where welker went in their "competitive" leagues....5th, 6th, 7th rounds. If people knew what the he@@ they were doing he never would have lasted that long in ppr leagues.
Brandon Marshall most recently, with his 21 catch game. 21 receptions, 200 yards, 2 TDs. 53 pts.50 (ppr) points... holy cow. I'd have to go back but don't recall any WR ever scoring that much.
Awww....someone got a zero from Branch last week. This is the Welker appreciation, not the 'throw to the other receivers' thread.I better the Hoodie would have taken a win over the Bills instead of throwing to him and Gronk on every play though LOL, hey Hoodie remember when you guys won your earliest first in your WR corps who was around, oh yea, a guy name Deion Branch right? zero catches for Branch 15 for 20 (lost count) for Welker and you guys lost, maybe the key to the Wr corp isn't Welker and it's Branch. wasn't Welker in Miami when the Patriots won their first Superbowls.....I'm just saying, lol I do like Welker he's a great role model for any kid that as a dream to be in the NFL, it's not the size of the dog that matters it s how big his balls are. This is absurd. You can't tell me 11 guys (or 9 or 7) all thought the same way on Welker and passed on him. That's pretty JV.Snagged him at 11.03 in my draft and boy of boy was it worth it. Everyone was passing him cause they figured he'd be injured for a big part of the season. Took a chance and I've gotten two wins almost strictly on his hands so far. Enjoying every minute of it and hope him and Brady keep up pace.
If he has another 3-4 years of his average production, I'd put him in over Hines Ward or that ilk of receiver. How long before people start talking about Wes being in the HOF?
Depending on how this season goes he may only need 1-2 more years of avg-below avg production to make it.3 years of 110+/1000+ is pretty hard to do for anyone. If he has another 3-4 years of his average production, I'd put him in over Hines Ward or that ilk of receiver. How long before people start talking about Wes being in the HOF?
As much as I love Welker, I think he has a long way to go before he garners serious HOF consideration. He'll need at least 4 more solid seasons to even get in Rod Smith/Jimmy Smith territory, and I think we can all agree both of those guys, while very good, are not headed to Canton. I think it'll take at least 6 more seasons of 90+-1000+-7+ before he becomes worthy of consideration over the likes of those two. And even at that point, the only area where he'll be likely to have a significant advantage will be in receptions. And let's not forget that he is greatly aided by the era in which he is playing (not to mention his QB/system)--neither of the Smiths played in such a passer friendly league (even toward the end of their respective careers, the league was still not where it is today in terms of passing numbers). So, in order for him to get in, I think he'll have to string together two or three crazy seasons to the tune of 120-1500-10 and follow those up with a few 90-1000-7 seasons to finish his career. Possible? Yes. Likely? I don't think. Let's revisit this in four years. How long before people start talking about Wes being in the HOF?
