Wes Welker (1 Viewer)

I don't think Wes was bitter about the way he left, but I think there is extra motivation every time a player moves from one team to another and then plays his old team that next season. The only thing I think might change that in his mind is that getting psyched up to beat an 0-6 team when you're 6-0 just seems a little mean and cruel. It's like beating up a ######ed kid or something.

Yes, I'm a Miami homer. I'm just in a rather rational place as far as my team goes now. We're just not very good, and everybody knows it.

If your wondering wether or not to start him, by all means start him.

The Miami secondary is seriously hurting and the defensive line cannot get pressure on the QB which means Brady should have another 3-4 TD day. On top of all that, Miami just released Darius leaving us with no depth at Safety. All we have left is Worrell and Jason Allen, doesn't look pretty. Also, with the news of Morris/Maroney possibly not playing, I see Brady throwing 30-40 times.

Start Welker

I would say the Pats will lean on him heavily in tougher games. In games where the Pats match up well against the opposing D I don't expect anything special. They will have lots of other options. In tougher games, they will rely him beating the nickel or 3rd CB.

Just my 0.02

I think it was on good terms...but hell, a 2nd and a 7th for him? Miami would have been crazy to not take that.

I'd play Welker and smile.

my thoughts exactly

I don't think he left on good terms - I'll do some digging.

With that said I think Welker is a must start vs his old team. Their RB's and banged up and the Miami secondary is non existant.

Did Wes leave on good terms? Was he happy when he left? Will there be a little extra motivation this week?
Ive posted a link to the story if anyone wants to read it, but as far as motivation, Id say he'll have a big game either way. He went home (sort of, he's from Oklahoma but went to school in TX) and played huge. He's going back to his old team with the running game hurting. Id expect a big game out of Welker.

Regardless of on what terms he left, he's a must start this week. Especially with TE Watson out.

He was my #1 sleeper this year and couldn't wait for the draft to grab him this year. Talk about a perfect fit. Brady loves to throw that intermediate stuff underneath anyhow, whether it's a back, TE, or WR. Welker will be open all day long. He'll get his share and probably score.

MIA homer here. I love Welker. Every time I went to the games last year he stood out. He's just an extremely hard working NFL player who just made play after play. I was sad to see him go. I would start him this week as a #2 WR without hesitation. the little guy will be running all over his old team. :lmao:
