Westbrook "likely" out for the rest of the Preseason.... (1 Viewer)

I don't drop him at all..

I project him to play about 12 weeks during the year, give or take, and the weeks that I have him he's an rb1.5 to rb2, or rb1 in ppr leagues.

None.

This is another brick in the campaign pathway to a shorter preseason.

Who is healthy now of the Philly backs ? At the rate they are dropping they might have to run the offense with an empty backfield by week 1

I want him 100% Week 1.

Let him sit.

I read he would be ready for the 4th game (they have 5), but if not, he surely won't play in the last preseason game.

That's fine by me.

Let's see more CBuck and perhaps more Perry.

Always hated Westbrook for fantasy.. A RB the requires a QB to make him useful isn't what I have in mind. IN PPR he is gold. In non PPR he is marginal.. I would drop him down a bit more.. Look at a few more WR's instead.

Yes, he looks like a go.

Moats

In Westbrook's absence, Reno Mahe continues to take first-team reps, though Ryan Moats, Bruce Perry and Correll Buckhalter are now available. Moats bristled yesterday when asked if he had lost ground, sitting out contact with a knee injury from July 26 to this past weekend.

could we all be sleeping on Mahe right now.... two injuries infront of him and working withn the first team. could he have some vaule down the road?

I spoke to a friend today who works for the organization (in a non-personnel capacity) and they are reasonably confident that Westbrook SHOULD be OK to start the season. That said, his history of foot injury and an inability to practice certainly raises his risk profile. As an Eagles homer, in an ideal world I would like to see Westbrook held out of all preseason game action, but returned to practice in a non-contact role. If he can't practice, no one is going to convince me his fantasy projections (and ranking) shouldn't be reduced, it would be illogical not to.

or maybe he wouldn't have gotten hurt - more practice, more prep, less games, less chance for injury in a meaningless exhibition. At least thats the way players seem to see it.

I like him even more now as his ADP is sure to unjustifiably drop.
I liked him too, but this can't be considered good news..the Eagles figure to be one of the best teams in the NFL in the 1st half of 2006, then things get REAL tough, as they face some of the best defenses week after week, during the final half of the season..I was hoping to have Westbrook at full strength for the first half ( at least) because he has a good chance at being one of the top 3-4 RB's in the league during that span.now,I'm not so sure..

his injured foot definitely makes guys like Hank Baskett and/or Reg Brown climb up the charts..they'll need to pass quite a bit if they can't use Westbrook at RB..there is no one on that roster to take his place, he's a critical spoke in that wheel..

What is the severity of the foot injury, is it a Lis Franc injury? I sat thru this sort of thing with Chris Brown a few years ago, first turf toe, then other foot problems..David Boston had the same problems if I'm not mistaken..both missed significant playing time..

Normally, I wouldn't care about a guy missing training camp ( all of it) , but this is Westbrook..he's quickly becoming the poster child for 'injury-prone' RB's..

Westy, Moats, Perry, CBuck....you can only carry so many RBs as handcuffs you know.

I hope this clears up soon. I dont even mind seeing Westy sit out a few weeks into the season to be 100%

It is neither a Lis Franc nor turf toe. I doubt he would miss any games if if was the regular season. They want him 100% for the season so they are wisely sitting him. I don't see the big deal?

 Unless you are saying they'd move the season start date up, he'd still have exactly as much time as he does now.
They would not start preseason 4 weeks before the regular season if there were only 2 preseason games.
So you're saying he wouldn't have gotten hurt if not for the preseason game? He wouldn't have hurt his foot in a scrimmage or practice?

Marginal in non-PPR?The same guy who was RB10 and RB18 in only 13 and 12 games respectively is marginal in non PPR? Yeah I hate those guys who only average 110 yards and .6 TDs per game as a starter.
