Do away with this for most plays. When you ice the game a away with a first down with 90 seconds left in the game you can celebrate the win. But a first down at the 14:27 mark of the first quarter on the first play of the game. Come on. Or when you are down 37 pts in the 4th quarter with 2 minutes to play. Jeesh....look at the scoreboard.

The Sunday games should be split evenly between the early and late slots. Having 9 games early and 3 games late is terrible planning and should never happen.

I don't mind the TD celebrations (provided the game is close).......it's the celebrating a first down in the first quarter that is terrible. Or making a tackle for a 3 yard gain on 1st and 10 or the celebration on a TD when it made the score 42 to 10. There is a time and place for a celebration.

NFL: Is more of an entertainment league than a sports league now.

NFL is pandering to gamblers. Which I hate.

Fantasy: PPR is stupid. Non-PPR was always the right way to go. A reception being worth the same as 10 yards never made any sense.

Players sign contracts, and they should honor those contracts! Tired of the holding out, pouting, demanding to be traded schtick. It’s stressful to team fans and FF shareholders.

Teams and players shake hands and sign paperwork and that should be the end of things until the contract ends. Otherwise contracts are meaningless.

Our original league (started in 1985) is actually a SF league but that flex spot can only be a QB or a K. Kickers score enough to be used in that slot. A 50 yd FG is 6 pts (same as a TD) and QB's only get 3 pts for a passing TD and don't get any points for yds until they get to 150 and then it's 1 pt every 50 yds. Makes for some interesting lineups.

The scoring doesn't matter as long as everyone knows what it is going into the draft. In fact, the more off the wall scoring the better because it makes the bevy of cheatsheets available almost useless to a point. Rewards people that actually research things.

Personally I love high scoring FF.

Scoring points is fun. Why do people hate fun?! This was the exact argument that got the holdouts to adopt PPR in that original league after 5 years of begging.

There is such a thing as exploiting ADP / rankings.

There remains the skill of identifying targets who are due for a breakout, or who you have ranked much higher than consensus. There’s also something to be said for fading players who you are lower on them consensus.

Any way you slice it, there is still a competitive advantage to be gained by doing your homework versus just drafting off of a cheat sheet or premium service.

Ironically, the idea that such a competitive advantage has been eliminated is in of itself a total boomer take.

Sure there is a skill in that but the advantage that skill gives you now with the gluttony of quality info at everyone's fingertips is miniscule compared to schedule/injury luck. So while it has a benefit it is a negligible benefit.

I don't mind TNF. I do agree that it's not as good (as game) since sometimes players are coming off of 2-3 days rest. Which is the only reason I dislike it. It's kind of horrible to ask unrested players to suit up for another game so soon. Perhaps some schedule overhaul is needed. Like maybe on teams coming off a bye week or played in last Thursdays game can play Thursday.

Too many games; don't need 17 (18 soon). 16 at most and I'm okay with 14.

Don't they already play 20? 3 pre-season and 17 regular? and before it was 4 preseason and 16? I don't really mind the nfl/pa milking it for all its worth. but the thread was boomer takes so...yea.

Yes, it is mainly to show marquee games to most of the nation, and to a smaller effect to games played on the west coast as there is a policy that most games can't start before noon local time of where the game is played.

I’ve been wondering if a team will go money ball here, and whether having a stable of elite running backs and a great TE along with cheap WR could be better than a couple veteran receivers.
Green Bay is as close as I can think of off hand. Although Dillon isn’t elite by any stretch.

I also hate overdone celebrations for a sack or a FD, or the entire defense running to mug for the camera because they picked off a ball down 24-10. So stupid…

I miss the predictability of extra points after touchdowns without all the strategy that goes into deciding whether to go for a two-point conversion.
