As we draw to a close and many are in the midst of the final stages of draft prep or actually drafting, even us sharks make mistakes or errors in judgement. What are some of the most common or agregious if you will that might help to be pointed out in one succinct post.
A few from my POV?
1. Injuries - If I had to guess at least 65% of those lingering injuries that seem to dominate training camp headlines seem to disappear by Week 2. Maybe you get a questionable or probable listing, but overall you are going to see that player play hurt. Steve Smith for instance last year, even with his hamstrings that cause him to miss 2 games, he was a Top 3 PPG WR.
2. The Sleeper! - Everyone is always anxious to draft that next 'guy'...the one who'll become the next Chad Johnson. Say, like Calvin Johnson...but should he be going in front of Donald Driver? While Calvin isn't a sleeper, one can be seduced by the allure of young untapped talent. And as such, the boring old dogs hang around...Isaac Bruce is another example as players like Devery Henderson find themselves being drafted in the same area. Do Marques Colston's happen? Sure, last year proved it, but I don't think it was called anything specifiaclly prior to last year, so I'm not sure it happened all that much.
3. Schedule evaluation - I know there are those who adhere to this, but IMO, the NFL season has become such a crap shoot with teams and units showing drastic improvement and regression from year to year that this exercise is fruitless.
